I woke up buzzing I had not felt so good in a long time. Around the breakfast table, I spoke to everyone and let them know that I was going out to see who I could find I was going on the offensive. I was not willing to wait for them to come to us and catch us out. We were going to turn it around on them I wouldn't take a gun because I was going out on my Vespa and had nowhere to put one I took a couple of knives and my bat I strapped it onto the rack on the back of the Vespa everyone else was going to keep guard. I set off tooled up my phone was fully charged. I drove up and down roads looking for the car I had seen in the distance on the day of their visit. I had been out a couple of hours with no luck as of yet I don't know if it was luck. Because if I got caught I could end up dead. I decided to see if I could get close to the supermarket and sneak a look around being on my Vespa meant I could get around the abandoned cars easily deads were getting more and more common the closer
I got up around eight-thirty and got myself ready for a battle of wills. I had made my mind up to try and get James to join us. The others were not going to agree I knew that from yesterday. I was not over killing three people yesterday I couldn't get their faces out of my head. I could still see and smell the blood of the guy whose throat I accidentally cut. I don't think they will ever leave me but I can hope. I was getting to grips with the fact of the murders I had committed and justified them with the thoughts of it being them or us. I went downstairs I got sat down at the table with the others Earl was still in the barn. I spoke first."Morning I have been thinking about our guest all night and."I was cut off mid-sentence by red."We all spoke this morning before you got up. We have come to the agreement that what you say goes."I was silent for a few seconds and Gaz opened his mouth."Yeah, we will go with what you say. If he steps out of l
The last few days have been quiet but eventful. We had got thirty solar panels set up in a semi-circular form and Red had a plan the panels were wired up to batteries but we were giving them time to charge. We had been going around other farms and emptying the oil tanks for the heating and hot water. The bad things that had been happening were we had started to see more and more zombies wandering around closer to the farm all going in the same direction away from town. It was making life harder to scavenge supplies. We saw an attack and it was gruesome to see we tried to help but we were too far away. The man's screens were awful. He was ripped apart alive by four zombies his insides were out before he died he was still conscious after we had killed the zombies. We killed him out of mercy. We destroyed his brain to be on the safe side. James was best off staying at the farm when we went out. We had seen a few zombies around the farm of all sorts. James had not reacted well to seeing
"who's there." I tried to shout but the words came out in a whisper."it's me Earl take it easy I have some food.""Thanks, buddy but I can't eat. I can't see and I feel worse than ever.""Ok mate I will tell Red when I go back I thought you might want some Company. Everyone is worried sick about you and we will all be coming in to be with you."I couldn't help it I just started to cry I have never been so scared. Hearing that people were worried about me was something that I have never felt before. I was being a baby but didn't care who saw. Just a few hours ago I was able to see and felt good. Now my worst fear had happened I was blind. I sniffled."You can beat this. You have to we all want you to and if you do we have hope. Please.""I'm not giving up yet but what can I do now apart from wait.""Good now just relax OK."I had no idea on time. Me and Earl had been talking and it was good. The door opened.&n
I took a few more days before I was completely back on my feet. I had got to know the others a little better. It turns out that Brian isn't only a black belt in karate but a personal trainer. The kids were Alice three years old. She was Alan and Rita's daughter. There was Ellie and Albert a five-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl. Their mum and dad were Rebecca and Brian.Me and April were spending a lot of time together. Frank was her son and I have to admit that I was getting attached to the kids and James. Rebecca Brian and Alan were pulling their weight. Rita was proving to be a bit of a lazy bitch. When I get the chance I will be having a word with her about her attitude.I was sat outside after eating breakfast having my morning fag leaning against the wall looking over the fields I had my back to the door and didn't hear it open. A soft arm slid around my neck and waist."morning good looking," I say."Morning do you think that we can stop seekin
For the last couple of weeks now me and April had got really close. Yes, I care for her a lot. I'm not going to say I love her, but we have a great time together. She is going to put me in an early grave if we don't start to sleep on a night. Don't get me wrong I love the sex I didn't even know that some of the things we had been doing were possible. Stop it I'm saying too much. Anyway, James has been spending more and more time outside with the animals. I'm starting to think he is up to something. I doubt it is anything bad I do worry about talking to the animals like he does. He has named them all I am not looking forward to when we butcher a couple of them. So far we have been able to keep our meat fresh and we have frozen veg and caned veg thanks to Red and Earl. They got the power working and we have freezers galore. We managed to get get them all stocked from raiding houses. After emptying a house we mark it with a cross on the door so everyone knows that it's been cleared. Be
It wasn't a nice morning. Alan burst into my bedroom I was naked with April we were both partly covered."Fuck me, Al, you ever knock.""Sorry yes, but we have a big problem."I was out of bed and in my clothes at a ridiculous speed. I think I got both legs in my jeans at the same time without being sat down. Al was explaining to me as I was getting dressed that Rita had taken the Suzuki in the night and left the gate open.I looked out of the window. There were zombies outside in the yard Brian and Gaz were out killing them and I was on my way.Rushing at things isn't a good idea. I can't say I have ever heard anyone say and it went really well because I rushed ahead without thinking.I wasn't fully kitted out I had hoody jeans and boots on but that was it. I grabbed my bat on my way and burst through the door like a stampeding bull. Unfortunately, I ran close to Gaz and he thought that I was a zombie. He turned quickly and stopped short of
Over the last day, we kept looking for Rita. Alan and Brian more than the rest of us. I have to admit that I wasn't too bothered either way about finding Rita. I didn't want her dead but I didn't want her here. Being a lazy selfish pain in the arse wasn't good for morale. It turned out that Alan and Brian had set off early this morning. I could understand why they were putting so much effort in but the rest of us were having to pick up the slack.Red pulled me to one side."Sid I'm afraid I have some bad news. One of the kittens has died. It was infected. I had to euthanize It last night. Can you help me to tell James? I have to admit that I am scared of his reaction. The rest are all healthy. He can have them back today."" Don't worry I'm sure that he will be OK. Especially when you tell him that the others are coming back to him."Just then Earl's phone rang. He answered and looked. Well, I don't know It was pleased then horrified. He said OK and hung
I was, not myself. It was obvious to me that I was responsible for the death of Alan and Brian and the injuries to red and Earl. Everyone was saying that I couldn't have done anything to stop what happened. I felt like that was bull shit. I should have made sure that the search had been mare intensive. I might not have cared for Rita but Alan did. It's not just the people I care about that matter. If April, for instance, had gone. I would have made everyone search. If Janet had gone I might not have sent everyone out the same. Who am I to choose who is worth time and effort. I left the house early this morning. I had to be alone. I had all my gear on and went down to the bottom of the drive I had a hammer chisel and line of string on two metal pins. I walked hoping that would let everyone know that I hadn't gone far and would be back. Earl was in bad shape and Rad looked like he would be OK but out of the work detail for quite some time. I was going to patch up some dry stone wall d
