(16 years old)

Danny was still holding the stupid guy in a headlock when he saw Lennon walk through the crowd, taking in what was happening there.

Lennon cleared his throat, tapping the guy who was pulling his hair, for some reason, the guy thought it was okay to touch his hair. He was already feeling the pain in his scalp, but there was no way he was letting the guy he had in a headlock go. He was a huge asshole.

“hey!, That wrong!”, Lennon told the guy he had tapped.

The guy scoffed, “ ask him to let my friend go!”, He shouted.

Danny laughed in pain, over his dead body. The one under him tried to push him off, but he pulled the arm tightly, hearing the snapping of bone. The guy cried out in pain.

Great Danny, you just dislocated his arm, he chided himself. It wasn’t his intentions, but it could happen sometimes when he pulled too much. He was trained in defensive techniques and could handle just about anyone that messes with him.

If there was one thing his father had taught him to do, it was never to let anyone walk over him just because of how he looked. People usually tried to get under his skin because of his long hair and because of the fact that he looked feminine. They would say stupid things about him and he would always cry over it.

It was hard growing up in a family of football players, seeing everyone so muscular and strong and him looking petite and fragile. So his father had earlier on taken him to judo classes after they discovered that he would sometimes come home with bruises caused by bullies and not wanting to talk to anyone.

Now, people made the mistake of thinking he was soft hearted and fragile that they tried to bully him, well, one of such persons now had a broken arm.

“ you broke my arm, you psycho!”, the guy shouted in tears.

“ I dislocated your arm not broke, idiot!”, Danny retorted.

“ what’s the difference…”, the guy shouted, as his friend helped him to stand up and started dragging him off.

“ Well, if you listened in biology class, you would know the difference dummy…”, Danny fired back.

“ you are a crazy bitch…!”, the guy told him.

Danny chuckled, taking a step forward, maybe the dislocated arm was not enough, might as well give him a black eyes, but Lennon stopped him, stepping in front of him and placing a hand on his chest, “ stand back dude…”, Len said.

Danny sighed moving back, he could see Quinton picking up his stuffs on the floor.

“ Take him to the nurse’s office…”, Lennon told the guy who was pulling his hair earlier.

The guy nodded, looking scared and pulling his friend away, the idiot who should have gone in peace was still threatening to call his father and make sure to sue him or something. If he liked, he should call his entire family here, Danny would break his arm again, if he dare called him names again.

“ you are something else, you broke his arm, c’mon dude!”, Lennon shouted at him.

Danny scoffed, does it mean that no one paid attention in class during biology lessons, how come they didn’t know the difference between a dislocation and a fracture.

He sighed, grabbing his bag from Quinton and walking towards the cafeteria.

He had been angry when he had entered his class that morning and taken his seat at the back of the class, where he sat. Well, some stupid kid thought it was funny to throw paper cranes on him.

He had simply warned the guy who laughed it off. Danny had always minded his business in class, he wasn’t there to make friends, he had a ton at home, they were enough. So he wasn’t expecting them to be friendly with him, just respect him.

Class had gone on normally but them, he noticed that someone was pulling his hair. He turned to see another fool laughing at him.

Danny had simply looked away and headed to his next class when his first class was done. Well, the two guys had followed him to his next class, he was just noticing after weeks of starting that school session that he shared the same class with the idiots.

He wondered why no one had educated them on the topic, ' do not mess with Danny Notre- Dame'. He sighed as he felt a paper hit his face. He ignored it at first but then it became distracting before it was making him not focus in class, their jokes were interfering with his class.

Well, the guy had made the mistake of calling him a pretty girl right at his face in the hallway when he was heading to lunch. The one that had broken the camel’s back was when he told him that he looked fuck able and should be beneath a man right now.

Danny had simply lost it and showed the guy why you never messed with Danny Notre- Dame. He actually went easy on the guy though.

“ Danny!” , Lennon called after him as he entered the cafeteria. He was acting like it was normal to dislocate someone’s arm. Well the guy had asked for it in the first place.

“ What?!” , he shouted back at Lennon. A lot of persons looked their way and Danny sighed.

“ what is it Lennon…”, he repeated.

Lennon sighed, looking at Quinton who shrugged, “ did you have to go that far… “ he asked.

Danny lifted a brow at him, “ you don’t even know what he said to me, so you don’t get to judge…”, he replied, heading over to the counter. He picked up a plate and proceeded to get his food. He knew Lennon was behind him but said nothing. They got their food and he didn’t need to find a table because Liam was already there, eating at a table with Zara.

He walked over to them and placed his food on the table, a bit harshly.

“ Okay, who pissed you off” , Zara asked her cousin, Danny.

Liam snorted, “ is there a time he’s not pissed off…”, he muttered.

Liam wasn’t far from the truth though.

“ Well, this time, it’s worse…”, Len said taking a seat beside him and digging into his food. Danny rolled his eyes at them as he started to eat his food.

“ tell me he didn’t fight with someone…coach is already angry, fighting could suspend you Danny…”, Liam said.

“ …it’s worse Liam”, Len said.

Danny hissed, “ can you stop for a second Lennon!”, he snapped at the guy.

Lennon stared at him, holding his gaze for more than five seconds before going back to his food and muttering in between bites, “ he broke someone’s arm…”, he told Liam.

Zara coughed a bit loudly, while Liam dropped his spoon. They both stared at him in shock, like they didn’t know he was capable of doing that.

He never took bully lightly. Gone were the days when he would cry back home with a bruise or run away and leave Lennon or Liam or the others to fight his battles for him. He hated it when Lennon got in trouble because of him, this occurred more times than he could count.

“ the guy was talking down on me and calling me names…”, he defended himself.

“ you would have simply walked away and not let the whole world know that you took judo classes”, Lennon told him.

Danny Chuckled, get your facts straight Lennon, he mused.

“ It’s actually not the whole world Len, it’s just a handful of students and it’s not just judo classes, you forgot that I took taekwondo classes too and the reason is to defend myself in perilous times like this”, he retorted, glad at the stunned expression Lennon and the others were giving him.

Quinton shook his head, drinking his juice while Lennon changed his position, moving to sit beside Liam.

“ i'm good with the change as long as you shut up and eat and not disturb me…”, he muttered as he continued to eat.

He was almost done with his food,  when he heard the announcement coming from the speakers. He paused, looking at Lennon who had his head in his hands.

“ Danny Notre-Dame, you are wanted at the principal’s office now…”, the voice from the speakers announced.

Danny groaned, more annoyed that he was yet to finish his food. So the douchebag had the effrontery to report him to the principal’s office, he thought.

“I’ll catch you guys later!”, he said standing up and picking his plate up. He was halfway out of the cafeteria when he noticed that Lennon was walking behind him. He rolled his eyes, that was the thing with Lennon, he would grumble and complain but would always be beside him at the end, that was why he loved the guy to pieces.

“ They called your father”, Lennon muttered.

Danny winced, that was very bad. He had expected the guy to be a big boy and handle his shit by himself, not involve his parents. Well, the guy was not, so much for a wide mouth.

Jacob was on his way back home when he got the message. He sighed, opening his phone and calling Chase immediately. The man picked up after a few rings."What happened?”, he asked, moving from his seat to the back of the coaster bus so he could hear Chase very clearly considering the noises from his teammates in the van. They had played a game with the New Jersey Titans and had won, though the winning margin was very close. He had not taken a flight since he wanted to bond with his teammates and had decided to ride back with them.Chase, however, had traveled by air for the game and left after the first half so he could attend a meeting in New York. At least he came to see the game despite his busy schedule. When Chase retired from playing ball, it broke him. They have been playing together for years on the same field, so to not see Chase on the field again, running, was a huge blow. They had discussed it months before Chase made the final decision, but it still had not been easy. Don’t you ever get tired of being late, always," his mother told his father. His father scoffed. Lennon could feel the vibration of his chest because his head was on top of the man’s chest. "Let him sleep a little. If you are in a hurry, just take the car and go; we’ll find our way later." His father said. There was a brief pause in the room, tempting Lennon to open his eyes to see what the hell was happening, but as he was about to do so, his mother sighed, planting a kiss on his hair. When had she gotten so close to him on the bed? He heard another kiss before his mother spoke again."At least, make sure you’re a bit early and don’t bother him about it

    34. Lennon's POV

Lennon had not meant to slam the breaks; it had been an unconscious action in reaction to what he had just discovered at that time: that the guy he had stumbled on in the hallway, the one with silver hair, who happens to be the QB of the Tigers and plays just like him, was the same guy he had bumped into about ten years ago in a hallway in a stadium here in Newark. He scoffed. Life and fate were funny; they had a way of reuniting even the best of enemies. He could still remember the silver-haired boy, even though he had tried to forget him at some point after that incident. There was something eerily familiar about the boy, even now, that he couldn’t seem to place his hands on. It was as if he should know what it was, yet he didn't, and that didn’t sit well with him.In all his life, this was probably the first time he felt threatened in football. Pardon his arrogance, but he had not met a high school student who could play like him or as good as him. As early as three years old,

Danny could not remember the last time he felt this good; it sure had been a long time. After slamming the idiot in the car, his excitement level had risen to a level that was temporary, he knew. Of course, he is aware of the long stares that the guy gave him during the game. At a point, the way the guy would bite his lips became so funny that he didn’t even know how to flirt.Lennon climbed into the car, chuckling. He was half expecting the guy to scold him or lecture him on how he needed to be more careful in the future, blah, blah, blah, but Lennon had simply shook his head and started the car.Lennon typed in the GPS of the hotel they were going to stay at and started the car."I can’t wait to sleep." Danny muttered beside him, resting his head on his seat.He heard Lennon scoff, but ignored him and still rested his head on the window. They were still maneuvering their way out of the school’s parking lot when Lennon slammed the car's brakes, bringing the car to a sudden halt

"We need to talk, young man," she told him.He groaned, taking in her appearance; she looked like she was going out that night because those were not the clothes she wore earlier to the game."Can't I just rest, mom?" he muttered."No, sit!” , she ordered. He took a seat on the couch with a sigh."What the hell was that on the field today? Since when did you start playing wide receiver?", she asked, her voice a bit on the high side.Yeah, he forgot; his mother didn’t know that he could play in that position."It was a backup plan with the team, in case the playbook didn’t work, mom, and it won us the game... I can run, I can catch, I can throw, hell, I play ball! “, he muttered."There was a wide receiver playing already... Don’t talk to me like I don’t know football; I’ve been watching the game for years," she snapped at him."And if you noticed, I ran faster than him when I took the position," he told her. He didn’t know why he was telling her all this; it’s not like she to

But somehow, seeing them all looking at him and expecting him to talk was frightening. This was the first time they were all waiting for him to say something, and truly, it was both frightening and amazing.Silver grinned, "Make me play the wide receiver’s position." He answered, staring at his teammates who were yet to say something. They obviously didn’t like the idea.A guy wanted to say something, but Pete held up his hands, stopping the guy from talking."And why should we do that?" Pete asked, staring at him with sharp eyes.Silver sighed; he didn’t know how to explain it. She probably was here to start nagging him about how badly he had played, how he was a disappointment to his father, and how he was ruining his father’s legacy.Silver excused himself from the locker room and found his mother standing at the end of the corridor before the turn. He sighed, walking over to where she was.She apparently heard him approaching because she turned to him.Oh, oh, someone is pissed. The look on her face said it all; he had seen it countless times whenever he wasn’t playing well on the field. It wasn’t like she was concerned about whether their team won or not; she was solely interested in whether he threw balls like his father."Your father would be disappointed in the way you played earlier," she told him immediately, as he got t

He saw Danny move closer to the other guy, hook their arms together, and rest his head on the other guy’s shoulder.A pang of jealousy hit his chest upon seeing them together. Maybe they were together, like a couple, and had come to see the game as a fun activity that they did.He scoffed. Who comes to see a football match as a couple activity? He sighed. He was closer to the front line, but now he just couldn’t bear seeing them together in front of him. It was as if they were washing their relationship in front of his face, especially when Danny had stared at him earlier.Silver sighed. Food would have to wait for now, he thought, leaving the queue towards the school entrance. He jogged all the way to the locker rooms, entering quietly. He was half expecting the place to be empty since he had come a little bit early. He was among the two first people to come for the game. He nodded at the other guy who was li
