2022-11-23 16:14:54Matt sat down at the counter as the mysterious man offered him the seat, he didn’t touch the beer that was poured for him however, and just sat and waited for the mysterious man to begging speaking, which he thankfully did a few seconds later
“So… Any particular reason why you are looking to raise your level, Matt?”
Matt showed a smile, this was the general consensus, that people that worked as either adventures or just killed living things in general, were looking to raise their level, it wasn’t far off the mark for Matt however, not that he was going to directly admit that, so instead he asked
“Have you ever seen a specter?”
The mysterious man shook his head, Matt’s smile widened slightly as he continued speaking
“Well, let’s just say that it would…. Motivate oneself to do certain kinds of things, getting stronger is one of them”
The mysterious man nodded before he introduced himself
“My name is Kelvin, I represent a certain noble whose interests lie in… Shall we say, cleaning up the slums”
Matt thought for a few moments before he asked
“So you are looking for someone that is not directly connected to said noble and is motivated to level up?”
‘... And easily disposable if this blows up in their faces too, I guess?’
Kelvin lit up and nodded as he spoke
“That’s exactly it, I am glad you are quick on the uptake, Matt”
Matt showed a fake smile as the two of them hashed out the details of this unofficial job, then he and Kelvin left the slums, with Kelvin paying for Matt’s ability to leave before he bid goodbye to Matt as he entered an unmarked carriage that quickly drove off
‘Now comes the hard part…’
Matt made his way back towards the bar, along the way he stopped to get some bread at the local bakery then he arrived at the entrance of the bar, it was already evening and there were a ruckus going on inside the bar, Matt showed a frown and opened the door, the inside of the bar was a mess, what entered Matt’s frankly horrible and immediately made his mind go red with rage, Lily was pressed and held down on the floor by a group of thugs that were ripping at her clothes, what happened next Matt could not exactly remember, only when he came to he was embracing Lily in his arms, she was okay, though a little shaken, she spoke in a quiet voice
“Don’t leave me again…”
Matt nodded on reflex, he then looked up from Lily at the corpses that had frankly been tron to shreds with a blank stare for a few moments before he finally realized that he considered Lily to be ‘his’ and that’s where his rage came from, it was from the fact that these people dared to touch what was ‘his’ not an outright disgust for their actions, when Matt realized this he became as disgusted with himself as he had been with the people that were attempting to assault Lily a few moments ago, though that feeling quickly disappeared as if it was forcefully suppressed by something, meanwhile Matt’s eyes glowed with a dark shade of green, though only for a moment before they turned back as he patted Lily on the back a few times and asked
“Do you want to take today off?”
Lily looked up at him for a bit before she shook her head and spoke“No… let’s open later, we need the coin…”
Lily nodded to herself before she clapped herself on the cheeks twice and spoke resolutely
“Let’s get this mess cleaned up, then we open”
Matt nodded and showed a smile before he gave Lily a kiss on the forehead which confused her slightly before he spoke
“Yes, let’s do that, I’ll take out the trash”
Lily stared at Matt for a few moments before she also nodded and showed a smile, then she stood up and clapped her checks twice again to once again readjust her mood, though Matt noticed that her legs were shaking slightly before she turned to him and spoke
“Come, Matt, let’s get to it!”
Matt nodded and stood up before he got to work…-
Matt opened his eyes, at once he realized he was dreaming, in front of him, were the still burning orange star, you know, the one with the giant skeleton wrapped around it, Matt sighed before he asked while looking at the skeleton
“Why am I here again..?”
A few moments passed before the same aged male voice that had explained to him about his skills spoke to him
“...Are you unsatisfied with your current life?”
“Oh boy… Well, I…”
Matt thought back to his old life on Earth, he had no lover, sure he had family, but they weren’t particularly tightly nit together, they were just people that happened to be related, as for his father and mother, he loved them and he wanted to see them again, that was for sure, still there was one thing he hated with his old life, he absolutely detested it, it was the lack of a goal in life, at least here he had a tangible goal, something to work towards, so he answered the giant skeleton
“No… I like it a lot here… Perhaps that makes me broken in the first place…”
“Dose that matter? Being broken?”
“Hmm… Nah, not really, no”
“I see… Heh… Heh… you sure are amusing, Matt!”
Matt showed a smile, then he asked the question
“Why did you bring me to this world?”
A few moments of silence passed before a strong dark green light shone in the empty eyes of the giant winged beast skeleton as laughter echoed out for a bit into the empty space around the orange star, Matt tilted his head and asked
“Should I not have asked?”
“No, it’s the opposite, Matt, it’s that you finally asked!”
At once the giant winged skeleton began moving as it spread its wings that were wrapped around the star out and stretched its limbs before the voice continued
“I brought you to this Alpha world to become my successor!”
“Your successor?”
“Yes, I said it previously, but your soul Matt, it’s like wet clay, it’s easy to mold into something else, I will mold you into one of the strongest beings in the universe, a mighty skeleton dragon!”Matt looked at the giant skeleton dragon and gazed down at him with its dark green eyes as a smile crept onto his face, he spoke
“That sounds… Interesting, I’ll do it!”
The skeleton dragon nodded its head before it spoke
“Good, to withstand the molding process your soul must be moldable, which is why I chose you in the first place, 2nd you need a sufficiently strong body, which is why I sent you to the Alpha world, let’s see… You would need to reach level 5 before I could begin the initial molding, from there it will become more and more complete as you level up until you reach level 10”
Matt nodded before he spoke
“So the first step is reaching level 5… Got it”“Yes… Also, I won’t say anything about you choosing a mate… Just put some thought into how you want your family tree to look”
“...My family tree? Why is that?”
The skeletal dragon laughed for a bit before he spoke
“Your lifetime is going to be measured in the deaths of stars, play your cards right, and you’ll outlive this universe”
Matt thought for a few moments before he nodded to himself, decking not to think more about that frankly absurd amount of time and simply said
“...I see, that certainly sounds like a long time”
“It is, child… It is… Oh, looks like our time is up…”
With that Matt’s mind seemed to drift off, leaving the skeletal dragon alone as he wrapped himself back around the star and fell into a light slumber… Dreaming of a certain adopted hatchling’s future…

Matt’s eyes opened, instantly he was met with a pair of emerald green eyes gazed into his from close proximity, then a cat like smile showed on her face, Matt’s eyes soon cooperated with his waking mind as he asked
“Where’s the fire?”
Lily tilted her head slightly before her cat like widened slightly and she asked
“In your heart?”
Matt blinked a few times before his still waking mind came to an answer
“No..?”
Lily’s cat like smile turned slightly lewd before she asked while glancing downwards
“In your pants? Someone certainly seems to be awake~”
Mat instantly felt danger which quickly woke his mind up, his eyes sharpened before he was about to push Lily’s face away when he remembered what the old skeleton dragon had said about his family tree, so instead he reached up and caught Lily in his embrace before he pulled her down on the bed and instantly swapped position with her
