Suddenly, Mariana felt something dripping from her nostril. She didn't notice at first because she was enjoying tormenting Slade.
When she realised, her eyes widened. There was blood pouring from both of her nostrils.
She shuddered, cupping her palms to her nose to stop the blood from ruining her gown.
There was a tornado of headache in her head. Her head hurt so bad that she almost thought that her skull would crack open.
"What's happening to me? My head hurts!" Mariana exclaimed.
Slade was filled with extreme anger and sadness. It seemed like the more she opened her mouth to speak, the more malevolent and eviller she sounded.
Was this the same girl he had dated almost all his life and almost gave his life away for?
Was this really the same Mariana he loved so much?
Was this the same Mariana who promised never to leave his side?
Slade couldn't wrap his head around this. This was just too preposterous and unbelievable to be true! So it happened that she was no any different from her parents.
She obviously was not forced to choose Vixton. She has willingly and proudly chosen Vixton over Slade.
Slade was still very uneasy. The flow of energy in his body was fluctuating, raging, and rippling.
She was not worth it, right?
Slade took a deep breath, forcing himself to stay calm.
As soon as he started to let the foul emotions go, he realised that the nosebleed of Mariana stopped.
It was at this moment that he realised that her nosebleed and headache must have been associated with his loss of temper and deep anguish. She must also have been suffering for the fact that he was in this bad state of mind.
This was the first day of Slade coming out of prison! He didn't really get in contact with a lot of people while he was in prison. The fact that he even chose to be friends with Niel Rim-Adon made matters worse, and the inmates avoided him, too!
Getting out of prison meant that he was exposed to the world and would come in contact with so many people. Coming in contact with people while he was in distress helped him discover more perks about the powers and abilities he gained in prison.
Although he had perfected all the skills and abilities in prison, yet he has not tested all of them yet. He was impressed and surprised to discover this new aspect of his powers. But he didn't let this get into his head. There were still a lot more powerful things he could do!
Mariana cleaned the residual of the blood in her nose. The scarf that she had picked from the side of the chair was already soaked.
As soon as she wiped her nose, she lifted her gaze at Slade. Her eyes still held enough hatred and disgust towards Slade!
She could not suspect that the nosebleed and headache were related to Slade.
But she still hated him for being there.
"Leave! Leave right now!" She yelled at Slade, “You fucking harbinger of badluck! Get the fuck out of my sight before this place catches fire like your father's mansion!”
Slade had given her so many moments to redeem herself. He had intentionally been silent for a couple of times, thinking perhaps she would realise how senseless and evil she sounded.
Yet, every time, she blew the opportunity to see her mistakes!
She just decided to turn blind eyes to her wrongdoings.
She didn't see anything wrong in the way she was treating him! She believed he deserved it!
Mariana continued to glare at him viciously.
"You won't leave, huh?" She struggled to pick something out of her bag.
She brought out some hundred-dollar bills and started to throw them at Slade.
She was hurling the bills like stone at his face.
"You must still be here because you are broke! You don't have anywhere to go?! Take some money! Pick them up! You will need them! Pick them and go! So that you won't starve and sleep on the street!" She continued to throw money at him.
Slade felt extremely disheartened at this point. His head became blank.
Could anyone on earth outdo her in being so evil and malicious?!
"Take some more! Take this money for going to prison. Take them all. Pick the money up and leave!" She ordered.
"Mariana." Slade said softly, but the aura that exuded from him shut her lung!
She couldn't even say a word even though she wanted to.
"You will look back at today and wish you could take back your words." Slade warned. "But it'll be too late at that time. Because regret will be the least of your worries." He promised, then turned to leave.
Immediately he turned and started to walk away, Mariana found her voice again.
"Bullshit!" She spat at his back. "Marrying someone like you would have been my biggest nightmare!" She curled in disgust.
"How did he even survive in prison?" She muttered in a low tone, "I made sure he would die there."
When Slade walked out of the waiting room, he saw Candyce standing directly by the door. He didn't say any word to her. He had almost forgotten that she was waiting here for him because of the deep anguish and wild rage.
When Candyce noticed that his face was flushed in anger, she didn't bother to interrogate him or anything as such. She was quite perceptive, just judging by the look on his face.
She followed him from behind as Slade led the way out of that area of the Cathedral.
"Where are you going right now? Do you want to attend the wedding?" She asked.
Perhaps I will. Slade thought.
He needed to see by his eyes when Mariana was truly in his past.
Slade shut his eyes for a while as he walked on. Then he took in a deep breath.
He couldn't let foul feelings that sprouted from the meeting with her further dictate how he would feel for the rest of the day.
"I promised your father that I would come and check his health status and treat him. Take me to your villa." He asked of her.
Candyce didn't say a word. She just moved her head softly, then concentrated.
At the entrance of the church, a man was seen walking towards Slade and Candyce.
When Slade saw the man, he ignored and wanted to keep pn working. Slade couldn't do this. The man had walked to his front and was now standing in his way.
The man was dressed in a well-tailored three pieces suits.
The suit not only looked high-end, but it looked like a limited-edition designed for a specific purpose.
The shoes did quite a justice to the tone of the attire and the luxury of the entire idea.
He was wearing a diamond wristwatch.
Vixton Langley.
"Are my eyes playing tricks on me?"
Vixton muttered as soon as he stopped right in front of Slade.

Vixton smirked as he continuously accused Slade. "What the hell are you doing here today?"Vixton shook his head for a second."No, that's not the right question. How did you get out of prison? They arrived at the villa. They didn't have to walk a long distance because the Villa was quite close to the church. It looked like a design that must have been contracted to one of the best architects in the whole world.Slade didn't want to focus on the building itself. There was an urgent business he had to attend to her. The pressing matter was much more important than the lush gardens that surrounded the building or the crystal private pool that overlooked the ocean view.Candyce was already at the front, pushing the alarm bell of the door. As soon as the doorbell tinged, the door opened from inside. It would seem as though the person behind the door had been expecting someone's presence.Walking through the door was none other than Jendall Kurtis. He was wearing a simple attire, and his face lo

Slade hardly had to resort to exuding aura to intimidate. He didn't like to do it because he believed that people should not be manipulated in order to instill fear or demand respect from them. CHAPTER 16."Switch off the air conditioner." Slade ordered out of the blue. Candyce had no reason to argue yet. She found the remote control of the AC and switched it off from the spot. "The pool of sweet has to dry naturally. It might look unnecessary, but it's important in the process." Slade added. "Who are you?" Doctor Huggins couldn't hold himself back anymore. At first, he had wanted to admire Slade from distance and not get too close because he was already looking for someone to blame the death of Jendall on if things didn't go well. But after seeing the technique that Slade had just employed in treating the old man, curiosity got the best of him, and he was now a mere shadow of his desires. Slade turned to look at the doctor. He saw the look of utmost awe crawling up the face of the man. He could still remember how this man was glaring at him earlier. He could remember how the man hardly paid any attention to him earlier. What changed now?"You look like someone who didn

"It will be an honor for me to be of help to my savior. I'll definitely get you whatever you want." Lord Jendall promised.Slade sighed. He was relieved to hear this. The rest of the materials are enough to help him to build a new arm for Mamita. He hadn't for once forgotten to imagine the pain that Mamita must have been through. Also, the stress that came with doing everything with just one arm! It must have been hell for her.And to think that the poor woman ended up like this because of him and his family. Slade really couldn't forgive himself. His heart became bitter again."But there is something that I can not promise." Up to this moment, Slade should have gotten used to this new side of Linda, but he was still struggling a little bit. It wasn't as though he was expecting anything from her, but seeing her go from doting on him to yelling and wanting to kill him was just something that he still found very strange. There was no reason for him to stay where he was not welcomed. In fact, staying here would bring out no good in the first place. "Don't be too harsh on him, mother." Vixton turned to Linda as she got to them. Linda's eyes were extremely red with rage. If eyes could kill, Slade would have been buried eight feet deep into the abyss of the earth. "Could he be the Spectre?" She wondered, her face growing chills. "No. The Spectre is supposed to be a myth. He's not real. He can't be real." She was shaking her head violently. "Then if he's not the Sceptre, and most definitely not my father, who else could be this powerful man living in Pinnacle County?"The more she thought about it, the more confused she was. She was trying to find a common ground for her logic and reality but nothing seemed to be working for her!"Someone who can't only clone himself but can easily vanish when he's at his most vulnerable state. Elise stood there feeling relieved as she watched Slade fall hard to the group after pulling the sword out. She was much more impressed with herself than she was with what has just happened. A second ago, she was caught in the claws of her trauma, and then another second later, she was driving a sword into the chest of Slade. She couldn't tell for real how she was able to bury her fears so quickly, switching it with the hunger to see this guy dead! Perhaps her will to cause havoc was stronger than the fog of fear that encircled her earlier. "I warned you before all of this started but you decided not to listen." Elise said, standing over Slade. "How could you be so obstinate? Did you think that you could fool me with making a clone of yourself?" She sounded quite offended. There was no trace of emphaty towards Slade on her face. It felt like she was enjoying and savoring every second of this moment. "Do you know what was more foolish?" She pushed the tip of her heel into the sid

Just like he always did, he wanted to push her to very edge of her rage and watch her use all her strength to take him down!"Why do you look so offended?" Slade laughed softly. "Did I lie?" He added. "How can a pretty lady like you be the dog of Vixton? Did he send you here to kill me just like the assassin he sent earlier?" Slade pushed further. Slade had thought about it for a moment. When the lady first approached him, he was forced to think that it might be the lady from the forest, the dragon. But then he recalled that he hasn't released her from her dragon form yet. So, there was no way in hell where she would have escaped the Heaven Coast Forest and come here.

"It's okay if you don't want us to be together for now. I understand totally. You don't have to force yourself or go against your beliefs." She placed her left palm on his cheek. "See, I'm not mad at you, not at all. Like I said, I understood why my father didn't remarry. That was why I said let's take a break. It's not like we are breaking up for good." She assured. "By the time you're done with everything that you have to do, I'll still be here waiting for you, even if it takes four decades or a century." She added, water forming in her eyes again. She suddenly laughed. "I was joking when I said a century. You better not take it serious." She scolded. Slade smiled, falling deeper and deeper in love with her. He could never have thought that this lady in front of him was the eighteen years old suicidal girl he had saved from a lagoon several months ago. Chapter 179
Slade and Candyce were having a hearty laugh as they stood in the midst of the fluffy flowers that bent to the rhythm of the gentle breeze. When they had taken a flight, Slade had brought them to this location. It is an open garden of beautiful flowers. Each flower was about half the height of an average human. The both of them seemed to have something in common as the laugh continued for another few seconds. After this, Slade stopped laughing but Candyce wanted to carry it on for a while. Soon enough, the both of them found a common ground and the laugh died out. When it died out, each of them was looking in an opposite direction. Turning their back to each other. Slade could enjoy the beautiful view of this geographic area. It was one of the places that he hasn't really paid attention to. This would be a perfect location for him to come to whenever he was in need of solitude. He could even bring himself up to per with his skills if he were to practice here. "She told me everyt

Candyce was still struggling to regulate her breathing pace. What had happened outside the restaurant earlier took a toll on her mental health. She wasn't the type to get into a fight with people no matter how subtle. She was trying to fan herself with the back of her hands even though the restaurant was chilly with the aid of air conditioners. "It was my fault. I planned to make today a great day, but then I ruined it." Slade apologized, taking responsibility for what had just happened. "It's your fault, truly." Candyce admitted, trying to catch her breath. Slade wasn't surprised by her remark. Where was the lie? Of course everything that happened outside the restaurant was all because of him. In fact, only few privileged people in Pinnacle County knew who Candyce was. They didn't know her in person. So, there was no chance in the universe where someone would have been able to recognise her here! This again bulged down to the fact that if it wasn't for Slade, this wouldn't have

Slade got the door of the car for Candyce and she stepped out. When she stepped out of the car and looked at Slade, she chuckled, blushing. Slade smiled. They both walked hand-in-hands in the direction of the eight-star restaurant. They were both exchanging gazes as they approached the door of the restaurant.Suddenly, someone walked into their path. Candyce was the first to lift her gaze. When she saw the person standing in their way, her eyes squinted. "You..." She tripped off, unable to recall the name of the person. Hearing what Candyce had said, Slade quickly looked up to see who it was. "Mariana?" Slade didn't know when he mentioned her name out loud. The first question should be what was she doing here, but Slade didn't care. Why should he worry about her whereabouts? They both have no reasons to be responsible to each other. "Let's go in." Slade decided to ignore Mariana. He pulled Candyce to the side a little bit to create enough space for himself and her in order to w
Chapter 176
"I have to go now." Slade suddenly changed the topic. He really did care about the look on the face of the dragon. The story of the life of her specie was something that brings her to a swamp of sadness, burying her deeply into the mire. She was immersed in that moment. "What about him?" The dragon asked, putting down the man on her back with her tail. "Keep him with you for a while. I want him to be in a deep sleep for a while. When I return, I might choose to restore him and then listen to what he has to say." Slade explained. "Why can't you listen to what he has to say right now? Why can't you wake him up right now?" She asked. "I have a date to attend. It's long overdue. I cannot put it aside anymore." Slade brushed off the topic. After this, he turned around and started to walk away. "Are you going to ask me what I told her before you got to me?" The dragon called.Slade stopped in his tracks for a moment. "It doesn't matter. I'll just admit to everything myself." He nodd
