Chapter 35

There were murmurs going around as Slade referred to the neighborhood as his. The elderly folks looked impressed. They didn't know him per se since they've only known Mamita for the past few years.

Before any of the three men could say a word, one of the elderly folks, an old woman wearing a loose gown, had quickly stepped forward.

"Maria, is this your son?" The woman asked Mamita, inspecting Slade from his head to toe.

Slade's attention shifted from the current situation to the woman. He wasn't really bothered by the way the woman was looking at him. Instead, what she had just said picked something in him.

His mother? Mamita, his mother? Although Mamita was older than him and was his nanny, she wasn't at that age to give birth when he was born!

To think that she was being referred to as his mother hurt Slade so bad. Does she now look so old that his Mary Poppings now looked like someone who could mother him?
