Three years ago, Mrs Paxton used to treat him like her own son.
She would go to the extreme of preparing some traditional decoction for him if he had the slightest fever or cold.
Is this her true nature? How could she be so cruel to him? Does this mean that she is also in support of the wedding?
"Come to your senses, Pauper! Do you really think that my only daughter will marry an ex-convict?! Wake up, or do you want Matthew to slap you back into reality?! Do you want to ruin the life of my beautiful daughter? "
Mrs. Paxton had lost all the remaining cool she was keeping.
"Linda! Linda!" A masculine voice was heard.
Everyone looked to see a middle-aged man dressed in a pair of Thompson suits and shiny shoes. He looked very well tailored and classy. Mr Paxton.
"I've been looking for you. Where did you go? The groom is being presented. The bride, our lovely daughter, will be presented soon. You should be in the church." Mr Paxton said before he looked.
When he saw Slade, he recognized Slade at once.
"You're out?" Mr. Paxton sounded disappointed as he asked the question.
Slade had wanted to greet the man, but hearing what the man had just said about the wedding and how excited he was, then it means that the whole family was in support of it. Slade heart became bitter.
All these people used to love him. What changed?
"What are you doing here -" Before Mr. Paxton could complete the question. He noticed the ring in Slade's finger.
When he saw Slade's ring, he was shocked, and his eyes almost popped out of his head. He moved closer to his wife and whispered into her ears.
Slade was wondering what the matter could be.
"That can't be!" Mrs. Paxton gasped and exclaimed as she looked at the ring again.
She walked to Slade and grabbed his hand roughly. She held his palm up to inspect the ring closely. She was in utter disbelief as she shook her head ruthlessly.
"How is this possible? How did he get this ring?! This ring belongs to the most powerful family in the whole country! How dare you stole this!" Mrs. Paxton accused him.
She didn't see how Slade in any way could lay his wretched hands on something so valuable.
"Don't patronize him, honey." Mr Paxton scoffed. "How can a lowly ex-convict like him steal something like this? This ring is the only ring of its kind in the whole of Pinnacle County! I heard not even the only daughter of Jendall Kurtis has access to this ring! How can a lowly person like Slade get close to the old man, let alone steal from him? His head would have been barbecued by now." Mr Paxton chuckled.
"I think he faked it! He went to a black market and had someone make a fake ring that looked like the JK signature ring!" Mr Paxton accused.
"Oh! This sly bastard!" Mrs. Paxton exclaimed. "He must have done this in order to impress us and change the mind of Mariana! He wanted to fool us. He probably believed that if we saw the ring, we would believe him and respect him! He deserved to be locked in jail again!!!" Mrs. Paxton exclaimed.
"Poor, boy. You had barely gotten out of prison. Isn't it too early to go back?" There was a big smirk in Mr. Paxton's face as he said this.
"I'll call the police right away." Matthew unstrapped his walkie-talkie at once and put it to his mouth.
"Don't! Don't call the police!" Mrs. Paxton exclaimed. "I want a perfect wedding for my only daughter. Calling the ploci will only raise concerns." She seemed to be changing her mind.
"Beat him up. Beat this bastard until he is unable to move an arm! Then we can send him to the office by ourselves." She flashed a shark-like grin.
Matthew approached Slade with a murderous intent. Death flashed in his eyes.
When Matthew got to Slade, he reached his arm out to grab Slade by the chest and pull him away. He fisted a handful of Slade's faded cloth in his palm and was trying to pull Slade away.
"Come here!" Matthew tried to pull Slade, but he could hardly do it.
Matthew, for a moment, thought that perhaps because his feet were not firm on the ground, that was why he was unable to achieve his goal. He was very much stronger than Slade, so why was he having difficulty pulling Slade?
He tried again with more strength to pull Slade away, but Slade didn't even waver, let alone budge. It was just like seven strong body builders, trying to pull a rope that is caught in between the jaws of a male adult lion.
Suddenly, Slade held the hand of Matthew, which was still on his cloth, and took it off gently.
"I'm not here to cause trouble, please." Slade's tone was soft and very accommodating.
Matthew didn't want to believe that he was unable to pull Slade away, but what Slade was saying quickly took his mind off the matter.
"I just want to meet with Mariana and clarify something with her. This is all I wish for. I promise that I won't cause trouble." Slade didn't want to cause drama here also.
He believed that none of this was her true intention. She must have been coerced!
Sometimes, parents would use their daughters as a bargaining leverage to get a slot in a business world. Perhaps this is what is happening in the case of Mariana.
"Are you dumb or stupid?" Matthew snapped at Slade. "I have been very lenient with you. I can't afford to spill your blood on the driveway of this beautiful area. It will only affect the wedding."
When he noticed that Slade would not go, he started to get physical with Slade.
Slade didn't want to hurt an innocent person. The security guard was just doing to his job. If he fails to do as told by Linda, he probably would be sacked and even ostracized for it!
The security man was trying so hard to throw slaps and punches at Slade, but somehow, Slade didn't have a hard time either stopping or dodging the attacks. This was getting to the point of frustration for the concerned.
"What's going on here?" A sudden feminine voice was heard.
Both Slade and Matthew stopped struggling. They both turned to see a very beautiful lady.
She had blonde hair. Her face was perfect, and her skin felt like a mirror. She was quite tall with ethereal curves. She was dressed in a cute gown, and every perfect shape of her body was spoken for.
When Slade saw this lady, his eyes widened. It was the girl he saved from the river.
He was surprised, really surprised to see her there.
Although time passed by quickly after he left the girl and the old man by the river, he didn't think he would see her so soon. The lady now looked a lot better, happier. Slade could sigh in relief. But when he realised where she was, he couldn't help but wonder again. Does she perhaps live here? Because she didn't look (dress) like someone who was here for the wedding."Good day, miss." Matthew's face turned warm when he saw the beautiful lady. There was a fat smile on his face. When the lady looked up and saw Slade, she was surprised. She recognized him instantly."This fool here has come to cause trouble," Matthew explained to the lady. "You're just in time; this thief might have stolen or copied your father's ring. We're about to take him to the police station."Father! The Paxtons were stunned as they looked at the girl in front of them. She's the only daughter of Jendall Kurtis. The heiress of the Kurtis mighty family!Although Candyce was the only daughter of her father, she was
Slade felt a blow to his chest at this instant. When he walked in on Mariana and she had turned to look at him, he had thought that she would feel remorseful at least, but looking at the way the things were going... Was she calling security on him? Really? Was she not even taken aback to see him? Couldn't she at least pretend that she cared that he just got out of prison? He realised that if he let her continue to scream on top of her voice, something else might happen, and he might not end up sorting out his bothers and worries. He shut his eyes for a moment and took charge of the atmosphere in the room. Concentrating helped him control everything that was around him. With the manipulation of the energy frequencies, he was easily able to break into the mind of Mariana.Doing this, he could suppress the mind of Mariana and make her lose her thinking ability for a moment. What he was doing right now was similar to what he did to Candyce when she had fallen into the river. With the aura
Suddenly, Mariana felt something dripping from her nostril. She didn't notice at first because she was enjoying tormenting Slade. When she realised, her eyes widened. There was blood pouring from both of her nostrils. She shuddered, cupping her palms to her nose to stop the blood from ruining her gown. There was a tornado of headache in her head. Her head hurt so bad that she almost thought that her skull would crack open."What's happening to me? My head hurts!" Mariana exclaimed.Slade was filled with extreme anger and sadness. It seemed like the more she opened her mouth to speak, the more malevolent and eviller she sounded. Was this the same girl he had dated almost all his life and almost gave his life away for?Was this really the same Mariana he loved so much? Was this the same Mariana who promised never to leave his side?Slade couldn't wrap his head around this. This was just too preposterous and unbelievable to be true! So it happened that she was no any different from her p
Slade didn't bother to want to leave. If he wanted to, he could shove Vixton out of the way and watch him break all his limbs. He could do all this without even breaking a sweat. But right now, he had something else in mind.People like Mariana and Vixton should be made to beg to keep their lives!"I'm in my right senses! It's really you! It's the murderer." Vixton smirked as he continuously accused Slade. "What the hell are you doing here today?"Vixton shook his head for a second."No, that's not the right question. How did you get out of prison? When were you released? Are you alive?" Vixton cackled as though he wished Slade dead. "What gave you the guts to show up on my wedding day?" Vixton's voice was gaining bass, and it seemed like he was beginning to lose his cool"Look around you!" Vixton ordered Slade. As he said this, he also looked around. "Where do you think you are? This is the West Jade Ave! Do you even have any clue what this means? This means that you're in the costli
They arrived at the villa. They didn't have to walk a long distance because the Villa was quite close to the church. Slade could now understand why Candyce had randomly walked to the scene at the cathedral. The villa stood out in the area. It looked really opulent, and its exterior design was very rear. It looked like a design that must have been contracted to one of the best architects in the whole world.Slade didn't want to focus on the building itself. There was an urgent business he had to attend to her. The pressing matter was much more important than the lush gardens that surrounded the building or the crystal private pool that overlooked the ocean view.Candyce was already at the front, pushing the alarm bell of the door. As soon as the doorbell tinged, the door opened from inside. It would seem as though the person behind the door had been expecting someone's presence.Walking through the door was none other than Jendall Kurtis. He was wearing a simple attire, and his face lo
Slade hardly had to resort to exuding aura to intimidate. He didn't like to do it because he believed that people should not be manipulated in order to instill fear or demand respect from them. But in this situation, he had to employ and exude compelling aura in order to get Candyce and the doctor to listen to him!He couldn't let their ego and foolishness cost the life of someone whom he had given his word to! Even if he wouldn't heal Jendall for their sake, he would do it because Jendall trusted and believed in him! Wasn't that one of the core beliefs in divine healing? If Jendall had not trusted him, the old man wouldn't have given him his treasured ring or even invited him to his villa! Also, because of the words that Slade had given to Jendall, he had to heal the man.The aura that had gushed out of Slade's body as he walked forward worked for a while. He didn't want the two to become brainless robots or statues that couldn't decide for themselves. He had to withdraw some aura to
CHAPTER 16."Switch off the air conditioner." Slade ordered out of the blue. Candyce had no reason to argue yet. She found the remote control of the AC and switched it off from the spot. "The pool of sweet has to dry naturally. It might look unnecessary, but it's important in the process." Slade added. "Who are you?" Doctor Huggins couldn't hold himself back anymore. At first, he had wanted to admire Slade from distance and not get too close because he was already looking for someone to blame the death of Jendall on if things didn't go well. But after seeing the technique that Slade had just employed in treating the old man, curiosity got the best of him, and he was now a mere shadow of his desires. Slade turned to look at the doctor. He saw the look of utmost awe crawling up the face of the man. He could still remember how this man was glaring at him earlier. He could remember how the man hardly paid any attention to him earlier. What changed now?"You look like someone who didn
Candyce swoon over her father, hugging him with every fiber in her body. She had thought that she had lost him. She had thought that her father had ended up as a specimen of a failed medical procedure. She couldn't believe that he was finally back to life. The flood that poured from her eyes soaked the portion of the cloth of her father where her face was buried in."You healed my father! You truly healed my father!" She suddenly felt remorseful towards Slade. She recalled that she had said a lot of harsh and unfair words to Slade. She wished to redeem herself at this moment. Her emotions got the best of her, and she has returned to her senses."I'm so sorry for all the evil words I said to you. I didn't mean for them to come out that way. I thought you were trying to extort us and pretend to be who you are not. Please forgive me." Although she was apologizing to him, she didn't leave her father yet.She was such a daddy's girl. The way she was holding her father, it would seem as tho
Slade landed dramatically at the shore of the lagoon at the end of the Heaven Coast Forest. He looked towards the forest as his eyes squinted. His Vyion Eye was still active so he wouldn't have a tough time finding the lady. The classified vision highlighted the path that led in the direction of the lady. Soon enough, he found himself walking down a narrow path that led towards a fountain. He could hear the body of water crashing ruthlessly against the rock. When he approached the fountain, he found the lady standing butt-naked, her back was positioned towards his direction. She was dripping. It seemed like she had just finished having a bath. She was whistling, and her voice was melodious and very enchanting. The harmony of her whistles provoked goosebumps and made head swell to the intricacies of the unknown witchery. Suddenly, she stopped whistling. She felt a presence behind her and turned around to look at the person. When she turned around, there were two large cats standi
Slade could swear with everything that he held dearly that he didn't open the door. The truth was that, he had tried to do what the old man had instructed him to do, yet he didn't get the door to open. Instead, he had continously been thrown away from the door whenever he made an attempt to open the door. Right now, when he pushed the door open slightly, he realized that the door was open. "Did I open the door? Really?" He started to doubt his own sanity. "When I tried to open the door with the scar, I was thrown away. How can I open the door when I was thrown away? Getting thrown away, doesn't that mean that something is wrong?""But then, could getting thrown away be the side effect of successfully opening the door?" Slade tried to understand the most logical possibility of event here. It didn't make any actual sense. "If that's the case, then why did I get thrown away each time I tried to open the door? Did the door open three times or more?"Slade realised that if he remained
The lady was lying on the ground, between the cluster of shrubs as she panted heavily. She was stark naked and covered in sweat. Her hair was disheveled and some part of her body was smeared with dust and green. She sighed continously. A wave of peaceful air flowed all about her, giving her this comforting feeling that she had never felt in a long time. The lips of her honeypot was coated with her juice and her legs were trembling. She heard the footsteps receding from her and tried to sit up. Sitting up, she saw the monster man who had just destroyed her warmth. He had finished ramming her as though he was a tractor plowing through a tough forest. Yet he was walking away strongly as though he had just taken a nap. "What kind of a man is this?" She muttered to herself, as her rage turned into admiration. Then her face changed again. "Hey! Where are you going?" She called when a sudden realisation hit her. If he is headed in the direction of the Lotus lagoon, doesn't it mean tha
Slade knew that the last thing he wanted to do in this moment is to get distracted. He couldn't afford it. But staring at this gorgeous lady standing in front of him, he couldn't help but let his jaws drop all over the floor. He didn't even know what to believe in a situation like this. Was she really a lady or a creature! For all he knew, she might be something else disgusing as a lady. Even at that, Slade didn't think it would be so easy for him to disregard the fact that her choice of character was out of this world. Candyce was indeed beautiful and gorgeous. But the likes of these lady standing in front of him, would make Candyce jealous if they were in the same room. "I must admit it. You're quite beautiful." Slade didn't know when those words flew out of his mouth. The manner at which he was acting right now, one would think that perhaps he had lost his mind. Some might think that he was under a spell and was being bewitched by the lady. But Slade could tell that much that
"Don't you think it's stupid to come here all alone?" A sudden feminine voice said behind Slade. Slade stopped in his tracks. A mile ahead of him was the Lotus lagoon that leads to the island where Niel Rim-Adon had told him to go. Slade had been told by the old man that something huge await him there. Ever since Slade arrived at this forest, he has not been attacked by any creature. Save for the two nuisance who came driving to their death, which had distracted him, there was no other difficulty. Slade was closer to his destination. He could get this done quickly and return to his daily life of vengeance. He has only been able to pull one revenge off. There are still five more families to go! Also, he still has to reclaim the lost company of his family which was stolen by the six families. And he wanted to do so the way the six families had stolen it. He stopped thinking about other things that do not contribute to his situation at the moment. He turned around to look behind hi
The leader of the henchmen realised that he was flowing in the sky, yet he didn't know how that has come to be. A second ago, there was a stray young man standing in front of his car. He had tried to run the guy over when all of a sudden, he felt something hit his car. If he was driving through the forest, he would have thought that he had hit a huge tree in his way. But he was driving on a plain and tarred road that divided the forests. He didn't know what to do or think in a situation like this. "Ahhhhh!!!" He let out a piercing scream as the car started descending. The speed of its descent was very much quicker than when it was going into the air. The force was swift and very impounding. Crash!!! The car dove face down into the tarred road with its bonnet. The windscreen shattered, and the shards of glasses flew towards the face of the leader, spraying into the eyes of the fellow. "My eyes. Blood!!" He screamed as he felt the shards sticking into his eyes. He could feel pain
"Tell me Tyq. What brought you to my villa? Curiosity or chance?""I did." A feminine voice called from behind the henchmen. Candyce and Mamita walked into the scene. Candyce was leading the way. "Baby." Lord JK said as soon as he saw his daughter. When Tyq heard Lord JK calling Candyce "baby", he was almost horrified. The only thing he could think of was Candyce being the wife of Lord JK. He had a conflict in his mind which he was struggling with in that moment, but he couldn't really tell if it was the best thing to get occupied with or focus on the present matter at hand. "When did you return?" Lord JK added as Candyce walked to him and hugged him. "Not long ago. We saw him lying on the street and decided to bring him home." Candyce answered, now standing next to her father. Tyq bounced back into reality in that moment. It wasn't the game of guesses anymore. This matter was getting very real and legit. He couldn't continue to disbelief for long. Not even if he wanted to. "Y
The lad didn't stop for a moment as he kept on running after he had pushed the door open. He ran in the wrong hallway and kept on increasing his speed as though his whole life depended on it. Well, for a fact, that was the idea. He felt like his whole life was dwindling in his eyes. He got to the end of the hallway and found that there was nothing in his way but a tall and thick wall. There was no way he was going to break through the wall and smash it into pieces. "What the hell! Why is there no door at the end of this hallway?" He was really confused and worried. He knew for a fact that there was no going back in the direction he had come from. There was a reason he had ran away from that room. What if he was right? What if this people were tricking him to believe that they wouldn't end up harming him? What if they were only looking for a way to make terrible things happen to him but are disguising it as though it was something rather special. "Where is he? Where did he go?" De
Stephen was pacing the foyer to and fro. His head was hot and aching! He was in distress. His entire body was almost in a lock down. At this point, it felt like a part of his body had shut down. Suddenly, he felt an adrenaline surge course through his body. He walked directly to the table and kicked it. The glass table shattered into shards. He walked to another corner of the foyer and broke a few other things. He smashed the TV and continued to cause a havoc until he came to a pause. No matter how much damages he was causing, he realised that his rage didn't subside. It only felt like he was causing himself some financial mischief. Of which he didn't really care about. When he came to a pause, a new idea popped up in his mind. The idea was strange but fresh. His eyes lit up. It would seem like the common phrase that fly around people's lips, 'There's a light at the end of the tunnel'This new thought that he had seemed like the light he has been waiting for at the end of this lon
