Preparations [1]

Raymond had already finished his daily routine. When he got home, he noticed how his mother seemed dejected. He then asked what the reason was, and when he learned the answer, he could only clench his teeth.

"At the market, no one would sell their products to me. I don't know what the reason is, but I feel like something was going on behind my back."

However, Raymond already knew it, and he also felt that Rowena already knew it too, but she just wanted to deny the fact.

"Mom, I will be the one buying the ingredients today. Since I don't usually go there, maybe they won't know that I am your son." Raymond suggested that made his mother silent.

Then, afterward, she sighed and said, "Alright. Here's the list. I am sorry for bothering you over this matter, Raymond. You have already worked too much, and you haven't even rested for the day."

"It is okay, Mom. I'll be going."

Raymond went to the marketplace, and fortunately, he had no complications with buying the ingredients. After that, he went back home and let his mother cook the dishes for the night.

Raymond knew that things were being orchestrated by that family of Fulgran's. Even though he didn't know the name of the family, as this matter in his memories was fixed without his knowledge, he still knew some possible actions they might do.

Inside his room, Raymond was contemplating.

"I already knew that they would cut off our source of food. In the market, they secretly gave Mother a black name so that the vendors would not sell her their items."

"However, it is not such a huge problem since I can handle buying it on my own. They must have been waiting for a few days to make us figure out what was happening and then torment us. But isn't this an obvious act? It is not quick revenge, but instead, they wanted to make us suffer."

"It is not a bad move, but I had already planned for it. And if they learn that we still have ways of putting something on our table, they will cut off another stem from our foundation. But what is it?"

"Things that I know that they might do include cutting off our source of fertilizer. It would be bad if that happened instantly, but it will take time for them to cut off our source of fertilizer since the process of allocating fertilizer is complex. They would root out the people who were managing every branch of the system first."

"Then, what is most possible is that they will restrict my father from hunting, making him focus on farming... Tsk. I still haven't finished practicing, and I can't let other officials see my worth. I need that specific person to show his interest in me."

However, Raymond's main problem was looking for that person. In his memories, he only got a lucky chance to meet with that person after the awakening ceremony, but since it would take almost a year before the ceremony and he needed an urgent solution, he needed to find him.

"That is only the problem... I don't have the power to search for that person as he came from the upper district of the village." Raymond mumbled.

But later on, he got an idea of what he could do to find that person.

"I know his name, but if I don't know how to get directly into him, I should create my own way."

Then, he was left with no other choice but to slowly expose his talents. If he could have the chance to make an acquaintance with a kind and higher person than himself, he would have a great card to fight with this.

Even though such a predicament involves his family, Raymond wasn't nervous about it. He was still calm as he knew how to fight them.

He could easily raise his worth in the village. Furthermore, he could be a genius and raise his family's importance to the village. But the only problem was that if he did it abruptly, he wouldn't be able to control on which side he should stay since the first person to look at him would be the winner.

Raymond was still from a lower family, and if he rejected an offer from a random upper family, it would also mean offending them. Even if he wasn't sure if it would really offend them, it was better to be safe.

"So... at the upcoming event, just at the perfect time, I will attract some little attention."

Recruitment is important for people, and the network you recommend would also benefit you. So, what is in Raymond's mind is that he will secretly climb a ladder by choosing a senior from the hunting group who will, later on, introduce him to a higher person. That is most likely, but variables may change.

"Then... I should prepare for Father's return to the farm. Since I am not really part of the hunting group, they won't be able to restrict me from joining them in practice."

***

The next morning, what Raymond had speculated had already happened. His father was restricted from joining the hunting group, and now Raymond had to practice on his own without his father.

But even still, the flow of his prediction was going smoothly. It wasn't still uncontrollable, and he still had more time to prepare. While those vermin continued to play with their lives, Raymond would slowly create the weapon to slay them.

"Wow... look at them becoming serious..." Raymond mumbled as he sat on his bench, looking at the practice of some newly awakened teenagers.

Raymond's eyes ventured into the area and searched for a particular person. The person he was looking for was apparently the most liked leader of a group, and he was also familiar with him since he was part of his memory.

He was the hunting practice teacher, Sir Hones.

"There you are..." Raymond muttered as soon as he saw Sir Hones.

Without wasting more time, when they took a break, Raymond started executing his plan to meet this person, but before he could, a senior of his called him for some help.

He was near to calling Sir Hones, but he couldn't decline the senior's request.

"Okay, I will just approach him later..." Raymond decided and helped the senior lift some of the monsters' carcasses.

"Wait... Why is this so heavy!" Raymond complained as he lifted the carcasses and had his balance unstable for a few seconds.

"I am sorry my junior, but mine is heavy too. Just keep on doing that. I will help you later after this."

Raymond nodded and tried to move with the heavyweight he was lifting, but unexpectedly, someone helped him lift the carcasses.

"Hey, kid, are you okay?"

Raymond didn't expect it. Just when he decided to let him off, that would also be the time when he would approach him by himself.

'Sir Hones...'
