"Can you get another bucket of fertilizer for me, Raymond?" Rowena asked as she was putting some in one plant.

Raymond and the rest of his family were now in the farmlands. A portion of this land was in their care and a few greeneries were planted with some fertilizer on the ground just above the roots.

Some plants were root crops, but some had vines. Raymond's family had to put some fertilizer down as nourishment for their plants. After all, the land they used was once a wasteland. It was only a miracle that they were able to use it with others from their village.

The farmlands were also part of the village. Even though it was a village, it was also a wide settlement with almost 10,000 inhabitants. But surprisingly, why would it still be called a village?

It was confusing at first, but it was still a village as the people chose to remain a village, nothing more. The reason the habitants raised this number was that some of them were slaves, but servants in appearance.

Raymond's family was near the bottom which meant that they were near the slaves' worth.

"Father, have you ever thought of leaving the village? I know that you stepped out of the village because of some huge scale hunting. But have you had an idea of leaving for good crossed in your mind?"

It was only a question of pure curiosity, as Raymond had always been curious about why they were still inside the village.

He didn't know what to expect outside. After all, the coverage of his memories was just until his 17th year of age. Nonetheless, he was still not curious about what it was like outside the world since he had to achieve greatness inside before attempting to reach higher outside the village.

"Leaving the village means leaving the village for good. I don't know if there is an opportunity for us out there. It is also dangerous to venture outside of the village because monsters are everywhere."

"Was that all, father? There isn't any rule that a villager can't leave the village?" Raymond asked.

"So far, there isn't much. But really, just being safe, we won't have any life out there. It is just hard out there."

Raymond then nodded after hearing it. It was informative, after all. Even though he had some inkling of what was outside, he still didn't have any subjective views of his family.

"Then, sister Rebecca, I think I didn't ask you about this, but what do you want to do for living in the future?"

Rebecca was taken aback by his question. She had become preoccupied in recent days. It might be because of the event that happened between her and Fulgran that also makes her blame herself.

And as Raymond noticed it, he only sighed and approached her to caress her head.

"You are still blaming yourself? We can endure this life. You are more important to us. Also, I miss the old you." Raymond made a remark.

Rebecca became silent, and out of nowhere, she sniffed, and tears slowly formed in her eyes.

Raymond was so flustered by it that he almost panicked as he tried to soothe Rebecca's emotions.

"I am sorry! Please don't cry!"

Just as he said, "Don't cry," Rebecca had already cried. When Lilia noticed it, he blamed Raymond for it, but her cuteness was still overflowing.

"Bad big bro. You made big sister cry."

"Eh? I didn't! I was trying to ease herself since she had been preoccupied these days."

Rebecca sobbed as she wiped away the tears on her cheeks. She forced herself to smile and said, "I am sorry if I have been this these last few days. I am truly sorry."

"Here you are again, Rebecca, always blaming yourself for it. Don't you believe us? We are not blaming you for it. We are a family, so what is one's problem is a problem of the family." Rowena cut her off.

"That is right, sis. So don't be too hard on yourself. Your beauty would fade away if you continue doing that." Raymond said.

"Even still... I was the reason our family was suffering," she said in a saddening tone. You have to do it yourself because Mother can't buy anything in the market. Father was restricted from hunting and was stuck here in farming. Lilia is always being teased, and you have been carrying many burdens because of what I did."

Raymond clenched his fist as he listened to every word Rebecca uttered. From others' perspectives, they were right, but for Raymond, they were all wrong, because, in the first place, this wasn't his sister's fault.

"Can you please stop doing that, Rebecca? It is not like we would like you to follow that verminous Fulgran. You know, everything about you is much more important than anything. Call me being not practical, but I love you, sis."

Lilia looked at Raymond with flustered eyes, and she also climbed on his words.

"I as well, big sis! Don't be too hard on yourself. We can do this!"

Rowena let out a sigh and said, "No parent would let their children suffer from something they don't like. And if they let their children do it, they were not worthy to be called parents."

Rudy, who had been quiet since the emotional talk, finally spoke.

"Rebecca, didn't I tell you that this would pass? Don't worry about any of it, will you? For us and for you. For the sake of the family."

Rowena smiled after Rudy's heartfelt words, and as they got too emotional, Lilia initiated hugging each other.

"I love you guys. Please don't cry." There were also tears in Lilia's eyes, as well as Rowena's and Raymond's.

"Tsk. Such crybabies. Come one!" Rudy hissed, but then pulled everyone into his embrace.

"I am the foundation of our family. I will fix things and eventually, we will survive this unfair treatment by the family of the squad commander."

"Yes... We will survive this." Raymond stated confidently, as he wrapped his arms around his family.

'We will...'

'I had enough of this... After the general lays his eyes on me, I will send my retaliation to that bastard. Humiliating him isn't enough.' Raymond thought.
