Chapter nineLooking out from the windshield, Cassidy could recognise the little boy. She jumped out of the car and got a startling response from her mother."Get back into the car. Can't you see it's pouring rain out here?"But Cassidy didn't listen instead she raced towards her mother."I know that boy. He is the same boy that I had that fight with.""Are you sure?" Amanda didn't want to believe that she would have to stay in a room with such a vile man and discuss her daughter's punishment."I'm pretty much sure I would know who I beat up."Looking around, she grabbed an umbrella from the car and with her bag in hand, she headed to the principal office. Before she opened the door, she sent a silent prayer to Heaven asking God to not allow her daughter to be correct. God must have obviously laughed at her request instead of taking it seriously because when she opened the door, the vile man was sitting with the little boy on his leg."Mrs. Wyatt, thank you for joining us." Mrs. Reyno
Chapter EightEveryday has been a reminder to Amanda that life is not picture perfect. She didn't expect it to be perfect, she just wanted it to better. She would settle for anything but worse and still, life wasn't giving that to her.She got out her phone and placed a call. The call was picked on the third ring."Hello, Mrs. Wendy? Yeah, this is Amanda Wyatt. I won't be coming into work early today. My daughter's school called and I have to attend a meeting. Mrs. Wendy are you there?"Amanda said after she didn't hear her utter a word."Well, Amanda you should have waited for a response before you started blabbing on about your problems. But why is your voice like that?"Amanda didn't want to believe that her boss could actually notice her breaking from her voice."What is it like, ma'am?'"It's hoarse. Have you been crying?"Could it be possible that her boss actually cared about her?"It's just some family issues ma'am.""Well, take care of it before you come to work. I do not nee

Chapter SevenJane woke up feeling better than she did when she fell asleep. She did not want to put too much attention to the fact that her husband left her feeling fluttered. But still her thoughts couldn't help but wonder.Does he not care about me at all? Am I not attractive to this man? Why would he leave me just like that? Was it all about the money? Of course it was, that is all he seems to care about these days. He just keeps taking and taking. He never gives and he expects that he could just trick me into giving him money like that? Wow, I really did marry a fool. The more she thought about it, the more upset she got. She thought she knew the man she married but each day he showed her sides of himself that she never thought he possessed. She knew that one day she would leave him, she just hoped that Cassidy would be okay with it. Levi wasn't looking very excited upon seeing his wife come down the stairs. He ignored her greetings and focused on his paper, trying to prevent h
It was going as planned and Jake couldn't imagine his luck. He pulled Amanda to her and hugged her. They stayed like that for what felt like days till Amanda finally decided to let go."Does this mean that you have forgiven me?" She asked with bright eyes."Yes, that is exactly what it means. Can we go to bed now?" Jake was worn out and in desperate need to close his eyes for a few. At that point, nothing else mattered. Not even a petty argument with a certain blonde woman whose face was coloured red because of how happy she must have felt to win could deter him. Amanda did not understand why Jake forgave her so easily but who was she to argue with him? At least he did. That was what mattered. She wasn't totally selfish but she also didn't care about what was going through his head at that moment. She left herself at the mercy of others. Giving them a free pass to judge her and say all that they could about her. Even if it meant bringing her down along the way. She pulled herself cl

"I think you should go to sleep," was the only thing she could say after so many minutes. She didn't even bother to look into his eyes because she knew what she will find in them. Nothing but mischief and so she kept her head low but she could hear the snickering that came from him. She could tell that he was sensing her weakness and her desire to be left alone. But did she really crave for solutide? If her mother had asked her, she would reply with a huge no! It was only with the vile woman that she could be truthful. She didn't crave for it, she didn't want to be alone. She wanted something much more chaotic. Thank God her mother wasn't around to draw it out of her."You really want me to go to bed?" Jake asked with nothing but evil intent in his voice. It was the first time that he saw Amanda in such a sober mood and somehow, it didn't completely make him happy though it did fill him with so much pride. Still, he would have happily picked yelling and shouting with her over talking
The sun came earlier than Amanda had expected. She wasn't able to sleep throughout the night. Her eyes only closed for what seemed like two minutes before the sun rose in all it's glory. Luckily for her, she wasn't feeling tired or grumpy. As a matter of fact, she was very happy that the sun was out. It meant that the demons in her head could finally be silenced. The sun drove them away and left her with a solitude that calmed her nerves. It was to be expected. After all, demons don't survive well in the sun. She went straight to the bathroom and the look on her face could tell anyone that she had been tossing and turning all night. Her new lifestyle was a bit alien to her. She didn't know if Jake was experiencing the same difficulty but she wished that he was. She would hate it if she was the only one in such a huge predicament. With a stifling groan, she poured water on her face and watched through the mirror as the water ran down. Jake stood up from his king size bed with a smile
