"I think you should go to sleep," was the only thing she could say after so many minutes. She didn't even bother to look into his eyes because she knew what she will find in them. Nothing but mischief and so she kept her head low but she could hear the snickering that came from him. She could tell that he was sensing her weakness and her desire to be left alone. The sun came earlier than Amanda had expected. She wasn't able to sleep throughout the night. Her eyes only closed for what seemed like two minutes before the sun rose in all it's glory. Luckily for her, she wasn't feeling tired or grumpy. As a matter of fact, she was very happy that the sun was out. It meant that the demons in her head could finally be silenced. The sun drove them away and left her with a solitude that calmed her nerves. It was to be expected. After all, demons don't survive well in the sun. She went straight to the bathroom and the look on her face could tell anyone that she had been tossing and turning all night. Her new lifestyle was a bit alien to her. Breakfast was nice. They ate in a comfortable silence. The two stole glances at each other as time would permit them to do so. It was a wonderful display, if anyone had cared to look. It wasn't long before Jake cleared out his plate and watched as his wife took the plate away to wash it. He smiled contentedly as he watched her do so and immediately, he heard his phone buzz. Meaningless conversation about what life was and what life wasn't filled the room and every conversation annoyed Jake the more. He wanted nothing more than to talk about his wife. Chapter fiveCalifornia was a town that never ceased to amaze Jane. One minute it's pouring rain, the next, the sun is threatening to peel your skin off. Today's weather was a combination of both. She honked at the car in front of her. Jane had always hated the way people took the road to be their home. Driving so slow as if they didn't have a where to be. She finally maneuvered the crazy road users and got to the hospital in one piece. "Hello, I'm looking for a patient that was admitted here in the morning. Her name is Lindsey." Jane said to a sad-eyed woman in her mid thirties.
