Her True Self

Jake ignored the look on Amanda's face as they walked into his apartment. He was immediately reminded of the last person he stayed with him in the apartment. Ivy's laughter resonated throughout the entire apartment. He looked around and all he could see was her face. He felt the sting in his heart and closed his eyes. He hated himself for always allowing girls to play him for a fool. Every girl that he fell for always ended up hurting him. And now he was standing in a room with the same woman who had come so close as to destroying his life.

He opened his eyes to find Amanda staring at him. Her head was tilted to the side and her eyes were filled with worry. She took the stand of a little girl and Jake couldn't figure out what pained him the more.

"What is it?" He asked.

"Are you okay?" She replied as a lawyer.

"I'm fine. Let me show you to your room." He said and turned in his heels to move out.
