They Collide

Amanda woke up to a beer bottle on her stomach. The sun had found a way into the parlour which was beginning to smell like alcohol. Amanda managed to lift her hand as she looked across the room, she saw Bethany and Jane lying on the sofa opposite hers. Standing up, she hit Bethany on the hit to wake her up.

"Girl, what the hell?"

"You are a bad older sister. How could you get hammered with your little sisters in the house?"

Bethany rubbed her eyes with her hand and she could finally see the sight of Amanda staring back at her made her want to throw up. "Will you stop looking at me like that? You got hammered too!"

"And that's because you didn't stop me at all," Amanda said as she crossed over to the kitchen. Bethany watched her as she fixed a cup of coffee for both of them.

"I'm going to check on my siblings."

"Oh now you want to be a good big sister," Amanda taunted her as she opened the cabinet that she knew they stored the drugs, removed an aspirin and swallowed it.

"They are fine," Bethany said as she came back downstairs. "They are still sleeping."

"Did you check if they were still breathing?" Amanda laughed as Bethany threw an apple at her. She passed a cup of coffee over to her. The taste of the black coffee was exactly what Bethany needed to clear the horrible taste from her mouth. She loved drinking but the aftertaste of all alcoholic drinks always disgusted her. Jane woke up just in time to get a cup of coffee as well. After the trio had both sipped their drinks, Jane thanked them.

"Thank you Bethany but I have to be leaving now. I have a class this afternoon and I just hope that I will be able to meet up with it on time."

"The problem is not meeting up with the class. It's actually understanding anything that will be taught in that class," Amanda said as she took another sip of her coffee while ignoring the looks she was getting from Bethany and Jane.

"Ignore her, she gets like that when she has a hangover," Bethany said as escorted Jane out of the house. She came back to see Amanda pouring another glass of coffee for herself.

"What the hell is wrong with you? Why would you say a thing like that?"

"I'm sorry. I didn't know that it's now a bad thing to speak the truth." Amanda said sarcastically.

"Amanda, you are really a case, you know that?" Bethany said as she went back to drinking her coffee.

"I know right? Hey, when will we be going to meet that friend of yours?"

"What in the world are you talking about?"

"The guy you said can repair my dress. We are still meeting him today, right?"

"Of course. I just need to prepare these guys for school. After dropping them off, we can go." Bethany said as she finished her last cup of coffee and headed upstairs to wake her siblings up while Amanda headed up to her room and used her shower to clean herself up.

They met at the door with Bethany's siblings dressed for school. Bethany threw a wicked glare at Amanda who seemed less concerned that she didn't help with any of the chores.

"Don't look at me like that. At least I ordered an Uber," Amanda said as she focused her eyes on the road.

"Yeah, but you could have at least helped me make breakfast?"

"Why are you complaining so much? They still ate, didn't they? Then it all worked out fine. Oh look, the driver is here." Bethany stood by and watched as her siblings and Amanda ran to the car and she lost all hope of her friend ever being nice to another human being.

Amanda was happy that they were finally done with dropping Bethany's siblings at school. At least now she could focus on herself. She gave the driver the address to the tailoring shop that Bethany had told her about. She could hear her phone buzz and as soon as she picked it up, she dropped it back down but still, the phone continued ringing.

"You know, if you won't pick it up you can at least silence it?" Bethany said when she was getting tired of listening to the sound of her phone ringing.

"It's my parents. They are probably calling to find out where I am," Amanda scoffed. "Like they actually expect me to believe that they care about me."

"You know, sometimes Amanda you could be so annoying. Of course, your parents care about you. I wonder what would make you think that they don't?"

"Well, for starters, they took my car key and then made it absolutely impossible for me to get my inheritance." Amanda held her mouth as she cursed herself for letting the truth slip out.

"What do you mean by that?" Bethany asked looking intently at Amanda who didn't say a thing. "Amanda, I am talking to you." Amanda had turned her face away from Bethany because she didn't want her to see the tears that were starting to form in her eyes. Bethany turned her towards her by the shoulder but by then, the car had come to a halt and Amanda rushed out of it

Bethany sighed as she paid the driver and left the cab.

"Amanda, we are not done talking about this."

"Okay, but could you direct me to the shop will you stay here and talk about it with my shadow?"

Bethany sighed. "It's right there," she said as she pointed to a faded colour building and Amanda's eyes followed her.

"Thank you," Amanda said as she walked away. She opened the door and the smell of old clothes engulfed her.

"You can't throw up here," Jake said after he had seen the distorted face of a beautiful girl standing in his company shop. He desperately wanted to see her face when she wasn't disgusted by something.

"And who are you to tell me what to do?" Amanda said with anger and Jake's face distorted alongside hers.
