Chapter 10: Unexpected identity II

Sancho falls to the ground hearing this, at the verge of giving up consciousness if not for the police paramedic team who rush to give him the medical attention he needs.

They on themselves are shocked out of their wit to realize that Derek is more than what they thought.

"We didn't know who you were, we wouldn't have even come to arrest you." They cry out in unison, raising their hands up and waving in remorse.

Anyone can tell it from their face that this is not what they were expecting.

Derek is surprised to see them acting this way, they had rushed and taken the handcuff off his hand. Right now, they were aimed at making Derek forgive them because if he chose to take the whole case further, it would end badly for them as they could be sacked from work.

Sancho even after getting proper medical attention still feels weak prior to the fact that he knows what's likely to happen to him as Derek was his new boss.

He would want to apologize to him but he keeps his face away, a signal to show that he doesn't want anyone among them to get close to him.

In the next twenty minutes, a knock is heard on the door of the office which was meant to be used for the investigation.

"Come in," the leader of the officers, Chief of Police, COP Steve Jack orders.

The door opens and to their surprise, Tahlia walks in. Her first gaze lands on Mr Dawson, excitement moving in line with panic shoots through her.

Until she kneels and greets Dawson, she doesn't realize, at the same time this isn't what she intended doing. He raises her face from Mr Dawson to her own husband, Derek Dawson, the virtue of the same name hits hard on her.

"Could they be family?" She asks herself. But why is Derek so poor if both men were from the same family being that they are bearing the same name. She wonders.

She summons up courage and goes over to Dawson, shaking all over. If possible, she is going to beg him to forgive both Sancho and her for what they did to Derek.

"Is this your grandson or son please……sir?" She adds to make her question seem more polite and respectful.

"Hey you, what are you doing with my granddad? What are you doing now, Tahlia?" He barks at her. She gets scared and attempts to hold Derek on the wrist, while still on the floor, to apologize to him.

"Did he just say Dawson is his granddad and from what I heard from him sometime ago, he was the firstborn and the heir whenever something came up for inheritance." She speaks silently to herself, the only obvious sign being her lips moving."

"Why do you look so nervous?" Derek mocks. It was time for him to mock them, soon they would each be getting what they deserve.

The senior lawyer that was even brought to defend him ends up not doing anything. It was thought that something would happen between both, pertaining to change in the contrasting statement, then there would be a need for a defense.

"You are a staff in my company?" Derek asks the weakened Sancho with pride. From the corner of the office where he is leaning on just like Tahlia, he nods his head heavily.

Being a staff was his only source of income, if something happened to his career, he doesn't know what would become of him and his birth family, they would die of hunger. He begins to cry prior to this.

Derek's eyes move from Sancho to Thalia, having no pity for him.

"I'm not moved by a crocodile's tears."

Sancho tries to defend but no one would listen to him, so he keeps quiet, sobbing as he buries his face in between his legs.

"And you Tahlia, you were searching for a wealthy man, what am I?" He mutters proudly, walking over to her and pushing off her head round, in a dominant style.

"Who is she?" Dawson asks, staring at her with disgust on his face. Derek didn't tell her before now that he is married or who she was to him.

"She's my wife!"

"What!" He twitches his face. Tahlia's heart skips at the comment, the expression on his face. Now she has realized the great man Derek is, she doesn't want to lose him.

She pants heavily, eager to hear what next would be said about her.

"I hated her right from the first time she walked in here, she is arrogant and disrespectful!"

This comment alone sends her heart rumbling and her hormones shattering her emotions. She is no longer herself right now.

Tahlia realizes that not only would Sancho be the only one to get punished, but she, as well. Her mind flashes back to the last threat Derek made before climbing on his bike.

It shakes her terribly.

"Do you think what you are going through now would make me pity you?" Derek remarks. It's as if he never knew her before now. She is surprised that the man who was dying to be with her, to gain her attention was treating her right now like a slave, someone he didn't know.

"You have already programmed how I'm going to punish both of you, but I promise you that it will be what neither of you ever expected."

His sinister smirk accompanies a chuckle which sends a dangerous aura through the entire room.

Danger looms in the air. No one knows what's going to happen the next minute.
