Chapter 9: Unexpected identity

Sancho feels threatened by what he said and orders his security guards to stop him from riding out of the exterior of his estate.

"Get him now!"

"He can't get away with this!"

He is disturbed by the threats. Derek who fears what's going to happen to him thinks of telling them who he is as well as showing them his new ID card which was made for him when he signed the documents of transfer of ownership of his family's assets.

On a second thought, he determines not to tell them. He wants them to know at the most critical point after they have finished abusing him.

But is that not foolishness?

A voice asks inside his, his own personal thoughts.

He is wondering what would be the need of suffering all tortures, then at the end, his true identity is made known.

"Well, along the line it would be revealed to them who I am but I would never tell them."

He makes this determination inside him as the police officers Sancho called while he was approaching the gate to see who was making trouble out of his residence arrives.

His guards hands him over to the cops who handcuff him and take him to their car, leaving behind his bike.

As he enters their car, he takes encouragement from the fact that he was here with his phone and it couldn't be taken away from him.

With it, he could communicate with Aurelius, he is very happy that the distance from his granddad's estate to the police station and Sancho's penthouse wasn't up to a thirty minutes drive.

This alone keeps his mind at rest. The police are even surprised that someone arrested who should be pleading enjoys this sense of calm.

Being trained to be vigilant, they suspect something is wrong and decides to begin their questioning even before they reach their station.

"Where are you from young man and what's your name?"

"I'm Derek Dawson from Michiana."

"Then what did you come here for, all the way from Michiana. That's about two hours drive?"

The police are polite to him in their speech which makes him wonder why Sancho and his personal security would treat him so badly. This amazes him.

The cops decide to treat him this way prior to his calm demeanor and peaceful state of mind even after his arrest. They suspect he must be some important personality or has one to back him up.

"I'm here to take my wife home. I was informed by a friend back at Michiana of what his friend who is my friend as well and was there present that Sancho had taken my wife off with him to live with him in his personal house."

The police are shocked. "This isn't what Sancho told us." They exclaim.

"What did he tell you?" Derek seeks to know.

"That there was a certain man who attacked him on a lonely road sometimes ago, he was back making trouble at his gate."

Derek gasps at such a blatant lie.

"How would that be the case, at first why would I even do that when I know he has a tight security and the police would heed to his call at anytime he places a call on them?"

He lays out his questions for the police to investigate between both statements and find out which one is true.

"May we know your identity apart from your name and where you are from which we have gotten?" They ask.

He remembers determining right inside of him not to tell anyone about his personal identity. He wanted them to know all by themselves.

"Can we make this to be at the station, I've already called my granddad and my lawyer."

They shriek hearing him talk of a lawyer. Only the wealthy class talk of this, someone belonging to his class prior to how he is dressed is barely struggling for way to survive, talkless of hiring a personal lawyer which is one of the costliest things in contemporary times.

They want to ask him more questions but one of them refrain, calling on them to heed to his request.

"I need you to invite Sancho to answer some questions at the station as well." He speaks with so much authority, in a style devoid of fear or anxiety. Their curiosity to know more about him heightens.

Having heard what Sancho did from Derek and realizing that the two statements are contrasting, they have to invite him to the police station also to clarify himself in front of Derek.

He is compelled to come alone as Derek wishes, not with Tahlia. Derek does this because he knows what he had planned.

They arrive at the station, Derek before Sancho to see one of the world's richest from the country waiting with a senior lawyer to look into Derek's case.

"This is my grandson, why is he being arrested?"

The police are shocked to the depths. They stare at each other dumbfounded and unable to move.

The shock heightens when Sancho arrives to see the owner of his club, whom he knows waiting at the same office he was going to be questioned.

"Good afternoon, sir." He geniflects to greet, bowing his head low with so much respect but one thing disturbs him.

What Dawson was doing here, then he links the name. Derek Dawson and Mr Dawson! Were they related? He is forced to think. He had thought that Derek was just bearing one of the popular names in town.

At once, he is pushed to go introduce himself once again to him.

"I'm Erickson Sancho, one of your strikers at the club, sir."

Dawson didn't even wait for him to finish all he had in mind to say when he interrupted.

"I know you already, no need to introduce yourself. I hope you know me well as the owner of the club you are playing for?"

He asks.

Sancho's body is shaking as he nods his head in acceptance of what Dawson says. The same way, his body shakes, his heart is shaking as well.

"Well, fine and good. That's the new owner of Chelsea FC, my grandson, Derek Dawson. The one you called to be arrested."

"And injured!" Derek adds.

By this cold tone of Derek, Sancho realizes that he is finished.
