Disappointment

When I returned to the warehouse I noticed that it was completely full of ships, there was only a corridor no longer than three meters to walk. It was a little uncomfortable, and it was worse when Lucia arrived, surprisingly.

"Hey, Nick, looks like you're going to be pretty cramped."

"Uh... Yeah, it looks like it, well, did I come for the same thing as last night?"

"No, I just wanted to know what ship I could steal if I want to leave at any time."

"Wait what?"

"Any time you can investigate and if I'm found out the best thing to do is run away, although you'll need a professional."

"Ah...I see, none of those ships will do you any good, they all have unique keys, and they're not easy to open without a key."

"Ah...ok, some other time then."

"Wait, I want to know who the ungeizefer's of this academy are."

"They. Well, it's dangerous for you, just take care of yourself."

"Please tell me. I demand it from you as your confidant in this."

"Nick, okay, let's say the general is one of them. He has ungeizefer DNA, and half the lieutenants are too, so it's best you don't piss them off. They only want to recruit the best pilots to destroy the earth, they are still weak in weaponry here and there are very few of them. This academy was founded by an ungeizefer, so you know its origins. Several invasion ships could arrive in a few years."

I cried internally when I heard that. My father and brothers were in danger from the beginning, and in a nutshell I was in the den of those creatures. We never stood a chance against them.

It was depressing, I was so saddened that I said goodbye to Lucia with a few words.

"Thank you, I'm going to rest."

"Wait, I also have to tell you something else. Jhon stepped down as leader of the second year cadets. There will be elections, if you want you can help Scott to keep an eye on him. He came on to me several times, and I'm not sure he'll keep quiet."

"I'll think about it... Bye, close the door tightly on your way out."

"Wait, I'll walk you out, you look very depressed, don't go do something crazy, going to do something to the general or someone will get you in trouble. If you want to know more about this subject there is a book in the library, pretend to take another one and take it with you."

"I just want to rest, I don't feel like doing any of that today and I just want to think."

"I understand, don't worry, just think things through better. We can't make a mistake, we could get killed and remember what those creatures did years ago.... Goodbye!"

After hearing Lucia's revealing words about the ungeizefer and their connection to the academy, I was overwhelmed with worry. Knowing that my family was in danger and that I had been living in a place controlled by those creatures was disheartening. I said goodbye to Lucia with a few words and decided to retire to rest, I needed to process all the information I had just received.

[...]

I could not sleep, my mind was in chaos, I wanted to avenge my family, I no longer felt like running away, I was being driven by rage and hatred. I kept remembering the explosion and the disturbing feelings that it causes me, I didn't have a plan to avenge myself. If I tried anything I tried it would be a disaster and I would probably get locked up, I had to be smarter and not make mistakes.

I only thought of something specific, on a trip that the general had sabotaged the ship so that they could not return and look like what they wanted to do to us, but it had to be very well planned. However, I needed to study more the ships he used.

Determined to carry out my sabotage plan, I immersed myself even more in the study of the ships that the lieutenants and generals used, they used the larger ones to go to various places. My hours of rest were replaced by some research and analysis. I studied the schematics of the ships and their security systems and located vulnerable points that could be exploited. I had some books on those ships.

The hold would have been my improvised laboratory, but the continuous movement there could be by bringing in new ships made me a little tense, anyone could come and go with a simple permission.

I tried to continue, but sleep overcame me and I could not continue. I closed my eyes, thinking about my revenge and the chaos this could bring back to the academy. Although I thought about exposing the ungeizefer that was in this place, it could be dangerous for the students here. It was best that no one was aware of what was going on here for now.

I thought about Miguel and what he would probably do if he was in a situation like this. I still couldn't process that he had died, it seemed far-fetched and nonsensical, he was so smart.

[...]

I woke up hours later to the sound of those ships, it seemed like they were taking some of them out of here and taking them somewhere else. I didn't really mind having them here though, it just bothered me so much movement in this hold, it was very annoying. Every movement echoed in the cramped space, disturbing my peace and increasing my irritation.

I woke up hours later to the sound of those ships, it seems that they were taking some of them out of here and taking them to another place. Although I didn't really mind having them here, I was just annoyed by so much movement in this hold, it was very annoying. Every movement echoed in the cramped space, disturbing my peace and increasing my irritation.

I saw that the people in charge of handling the ships were the first level cadets, they were carrying them on a kind of cart outside. I just hoped they wouldn't put it in the hold anymore.

Before 7 o'clock in the morning I went to take a shower, I was only wearing a pair of shorts and a towel. It didn't take me long to shower and get out of there, to sit down for breakfast in the cafeteria. However, on the way, I saw a bunch of people crowded at the entrance to the men's restrooms. This would delay most of the activities somewhat.

The girls' was obviously almost unoccupied. There were few girls at the academy, but it was a serious offense to mess in there. I just closed my eyes and ignored that possibility to get out of this line quickly.

After a while I saw the cause of this problem. A fight between several first level cadets. Maybe it was generated by the stress of not being left behind, and the indifference there was for the social classes, since the richest ones did nothing and went through their parents to the tests quickly, but that was no longer my problem. Like everyone else, I ignored what was going on. The only ones who could solve this were the same lieutenants who promoted this tense and classist environment. They took it upon themselves to remove the two people who disturbed the tranquility of the academy.

I decided to stay out of the fight between the first level cadets. Although the injustice and social discrimination at the academy outraged me, I knew that getting involved in that conflict would not be beneficial to my plans. Besides, I was focused on my goal of sabotaging the general's ship to prevent him from returning and leaving a trail of destruction.

As I waited patiently for my turn in line at the restroom, my mind was still working on the sabotage plan. I needed to know more details about the general's ship and its security systems. I remembered that there were some books in the academy library that could provide me with additional information, but everything changed when I overheard a conversation between two cadets standing in line.

"They say that Jhon got into a fight with Scott over Lucia."

"Is it serious?"

Jhon was mad, he was mowed down by jealousy that Scott was a helpful person to the other cadets. It was a very confusing thing for me. I just wanted to find out from other classmates what happened. I just hoped Scott wouldn't get kicked out of the academy for this, I felt it was very unfair, but Jhon had family members here, and he had more support to get out of this situation as if he had done nothing.

Waiting in that line for me was quite tense for me. Scott might try to save himself and tell about my secret relationship with Lucia. Although I wasn't quite convinced that he would be so sneaky to rat me out like that, there was a chance that he would. It made me more nervous being in that place, wasting my time.
