Origins ungeizefer

In the afternoon, I was able to find out everything that was going on. Apparently, Jhon was jealous of Scott and Lucia's closeness, since he was probably the new leader. Maybe he still had feelings for her and was out of control.

He started arguing with the other cadet. Until they came to blows last night and both were arrested and suspended. It was just a rumor.

Lucia is being investigated for the possible relationship with Scott, and the academy could pull her out. That worried me, even though she wanted to leave, it was bad for me. Interventions to communications were very useful for me, although I could ask her to teach me.

I laughed internally at what was going on, but I had other things to do at the academy. Today there would be a surprise test to measure our knowledge of various types of weather and terrain. It was basic stuff, but I had to do it to finish my activities for the day.

I headed there, but surprisingly there was Jhon in that place as if nothing had happened. Because of his family, they had suspended him for a few hours and left him there as if nothing had happened. They probably focused only on Scott and Lucia. They paid attention to Jhon's accusations.

I ignored him and just concentrated on doing the logic test. Surprisingly, however, I saw someone I knew. A mercenary who was a friend of my father. The first days I arrived here. I just tried to ignore him, but no matter how hard I tried, I got a little nervous. He was the only one who knew who I was.

The room was open, and the place was different from the rest of the places where we were tested. There were no computers, no technology, just a few chairs with some tables. This time we had to take the test by hand.

"Good afternoon," said the lieutenant as he opened the room. "We have decided to conduct the test in a quiet environment, with no technology or distractions. I just hope no one tries to cheat or anything like that. We have noticed certain attitudes of some cadets that are against the rules, as well as thefts in different places. We need to evaluate what kind of students we have here."

Hearing this, I felt a shiver run through my body. Depending on the questions I was asked, it seemed that I was considered a traitor in this place. Everything was against me, but I could not leave the room.

I turned pale at the thought of what might happen to me.

My companions began to do the truth test. I sat in one of the empty chairs waiting. It was very stressful for me. Everything was against me.

I tried desperately to think of how to answer the lieutenant, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't come up with a coherent answer that wouldn't qualify as a lie.

[...]

I remained in the room for more than two hours, waiting my turn. Although I did not have enough courage to face the situation, I decided to move forward and avoid attracting attention.

Finally, I made my way to the small space where the tests were being conducted. A lieutenant was holding sheets of paper while the mercenary was typing the results into a machine.

I took a seat in the assigned chair and the lieutenant began to speak, his voice echoing in the tense room.

"Okay, let's make this quick. It's only ten questions to detect threats lurking in this academy. It is suspected that someone has been sabotaging this place, so let's find out who is involved in this."

I nodded nervously in response.

"First question," the lieutenant said. "Have you been involved in extracurricular activities?"

"Uh... yes, I've been repairing machines and studying ships," I replied cautiously.

"Okay, second question," he continued. "Do you have anything against the administrative people at this academy? Tell us about it."

"Uh... yes, I'm quite annoyed with their way of evaluating first level students," I replied, feeling my hands become sweaty.

The lieutenant continued with the questions, each one increasing my anxiety. I knew my answers made me a suspect, and the lieutenant's gaze seemed to pierce me.

We came to the last question.

"Have you sabotaged or do you know who has sabotaged various equipment at the academy?" the lieutenant inquired, fixing his eyes on me.

"Uh... well, I think I do know, but it would only be a guess," I answered cautiously, fearing the consequences of my words.

At that moment, the lieutenant looked at me carefully, about to ask more questions. However, he seemed exhausted from repeated questioning and decided to give me a brief answer.

"You are dismissed. If the academy requires more information, we will contact you," he said, leaving me perplexed and filled with concern.

I left the booth, feeling uneasy. I knew I was still a suspect, and it was possible that I would be called in for clarification. Uncertainty gripped me as I walked away from the room, aware that my future at the academy was at stake.

I just walked out to the cellar to rest, I was worried, I was holding my head to understand what was going on. I was still not processing what was happening. I thought about running away, so my only alternative was to find Lucia and leave on this night.

So I headed to the cafeteria, she was sometimes there along with other cadets, but in the middle of the way I stopped. I had a lot of paranoia in my head and she had already warned me to take precautions. I calmed down and tried not to let my nerves get the better of me and tried to walk normally, all over the academy there were cameras and if I talked too much to Lucia they would get suspicious.

I just went back to the cellar, but I decided to read a book about the ungeizefer and their history against the guild. I needed to know their weaknesses and be prepared for any situation.

[...]

I returned to the dark and dusty cellar, looking for answers in the yellowed pages of an old book. This one I checked out from the library, just as Lucia had told me.

However, with each page I read, my mind was filled with unease and my heart was racing. The ungeizefer, those disgusting beings, were like ruthless parasites that reproduced among themselves at first, but they had discovered that by mixing with other creatures, they could prolong their lives and stay young longer. A shiver ran down my spine at the thought of what that meant: they would force people to have relations with them and pass on their altered DNA and have half-human offspring. They could regenerate if they lost limbs, even their heads.

According to the book, their current form was that of a salamander, since they parasitized another planet and took that form. Now they were beginning to use the human form. I did not know how they reproduced in their original form.

My mind wandered as I thought about how they passed their DNA to humans.

The book revealed that the ungeizefer, beings devoid of morality, had no common goal beyond their own ambition and perversion for power. They did, however, have a preference for the most dominant individuals of each species they invaded. Suddenly, my mind wandered to Lucia and Arturo, the most prominent among us. Would they be the targets of these monsters because of their exceptional intelligence and character? And, in the midst of my own thoughts, I couldn't help but feel that I, too, was in danger. The book mentioned the discrimination that existed among the ungeizefer, but it also revealed that they were willing to mix with other species in order to survive and be superior to others.

I continued reading the book and was shocked to read that these creatures of the night, the ungeizefer, avoided exposure to direct sunlight. Now I understood why they always wore those helmets, hiding their true nature under the guise of normality. At that moment, a spark of hope ignited within me. This information could be my secret weapon if I ever came face to face with them.

However, my hopes were tarnished when I noticed that several pages of the book had been torn out, depriving me of vital information. I had to find another source of knowledge before I attracted the attention of those who already doubted my intentions in lending this cursed book.

Worry came over me as I thought of Lucia, so precious and vulnerable at the same time. She would become one of the victims of the ungeizefer if I did not act immediately. I had noticed how some of our peers looked at her obscenely at times, even though she was the leader of the cadets, and now I imagined how those despicable beings would view her and what they probably wanted to do with her. I felt so disgusted at the thought of them touching her or doing anything to her, I bit my lips. Time was running against her and me. I had to get her out of here as soon as possible. I was willing to stay here and finish them all off, but I was also one of their targets, and it made me a little nauseous to know what they would do to me.
