Silas had been watching and waiting, his patience thinning with each passing day. The time for subtlety had come to an end. He needed the amulet, and Alex's connection to it was growing too strong. They had learned everything they could from observing Alex, but now it was time to force the issue.

The plan was simple. Alex’s greatest weakness was not his inexperience, nor his lack of mastery over the amulet’s full power. His greatest vulnerability was Samira, the one person who had stood by his side through everything. If Silas wanted to push Alex to the brink, he would take the one thing Alex cared about most.
