Chapter 5

Ryan looked at the one who just insulted him and wasn't surprised as it was none other than Gerald Lane.

"I don't have time for this!" Ryan shot back at Gerald as he took up his clothes.

Ryan walked to the counter and the lady sized him up as she looked at what he'd bought and after inspecting them.

"That'll be 25,000 dollars sir." The young brunette said.

"I'll pay." Ryan replied emotionlessly as he gave her his custom ATM card.

"It's probably a fake card that peasant can never have any amount of money to pay for such expensive clothes." Gerald mocked as he tapped his feet on the floor.

The lady took the card and swiped it as the machine beeped as it gave a green flash of light, showing that that amount of money had been debited.

The lady wore a frown as she'd began to believe the words that the other refined young man had said.

"This man is a peasant and a loser he can't afford this clothes look at how poorly dressed he is, he's definitely stolen someone's card." Gerald hollered; he wanted to humiliate Ryan.

The other shop assistants began to give Ryan a scowl.

Immediately the lady at the counter took her mobile device and dialed a number.

"What's seriously going on here?" Ryan inquired curiously as he felt that the shop had become tense.

"Please sir we have a serious situation down here." The brunette informed the receiver.

She then ended the call thereby keeping her mobile device.

It wasn't too long before the shop assistants blocked the exit as they awaited what'll happen.

After a few seconds, another man walked out from another door he was clean shaven and wore a customized corporate attire.

"What's the matter?" He asked with a stern look.

"This young man brought in a fake customized card and yet he's a peasant at best, he should be arrested for theft." Gerald answered.

"Is this true Gloria?" The man asked the lady at the counter.

"Yes sir the claims by our esteemed customer is right." Gloria supported.

Ryan then realized that he was being framed for what he didn't do, he then understood that this man was the manager.

"Young man you're coming with me to my office.!" The man hollered.

"But I did nothing." Ryan pleaded but his words fell on deaf ears.

He then gripped his hand and took him into his office and shut the door.

Gerald Lane smiled in excitement as he felt that it won't be long before Ryan will be arrested and humiliated.

Ryan then sat down in the office as the man had collected the card.

"I'll try to confirm if you're truly the owner of this card and if you're not I'll get you arrested." The manager replied in a belligerent tone.

He picked up his mobile device and made a call.

The manager while having the phone conversation got shocked by the kind of reply he'd gotten.

The manager dropped his mobile device on the table he was shocked.

To the man's shocking realization this young man in shabby clothes was the owner of this card, this card belonged to members of the Goldway family.

The manager genuflectingly began to beg for Ryan's forgiveness.

Ryan knew that the manager had confirmed his identity and so he smiled.

The manager knew that he could lose his job for treating a member of one of the most powerful families in the world.

"I just want to get my clothes that I rightfully paid for and leave." Ryan said with a grave look.

"It shall be done with immediate effect." The manager arose from his kneeling position.

As he opened the door and gestured for Ryan to walk through first, as Ryan walked through then followed by the manager.

Gerald Lane had already departed from the shop after purchasing the items he wanted to purchase.

"Gloria please give this esteemed customer of ours the clothes that he'd purchased with speed!" The manager hollered.

The lady at the counter was stunned by the reply of her boss but without hesitation she obeyed the instruction.

"As an apology for how my worker behaved please collect some extra clothes or shoes, it's on the house." The manager offered.

Ryan then walked back into the clothing line and picked up three boxes of shoes including a pair of brogues, then he selected a two packet shirts and pair of jeans.

"I think this will be enough." Ryan uttered as he noticed shopping assistants aiding him to carry and pack these materials.

"By the way I'll like you to address the unruly behavior of one of your workers." Ryan's tone changed to a much grave one as he shifted his gaze to the lady at the counter.

The manager took note of Ryan's statement and stared in the same direction as Ryan.

"If this is how you treat your customers like mere malfeasants you'll lose your customers quickly." Ryan added in a darker tone as his look became apathetic.

The cashier however suddenly started to tremble because she knew that she'd entered into some serious hot water.

"I'm .... I ..." She stuttered.

"Answer me!" The manager hollered furiously.

"Yes it's true." She uttered shamefully.

"If this is how you treat customers based on comments of others and parochial view then you're not fit to work here." The manager declared.

"Gloria you are fired!" The manager uttered not mincing his words.

The lady felt like she'd been showered with very cold water she walked slowly into the inner part of the shop.

It didn't take long before the manager pointed to another shop assistant to replace her.

Ryan felt no pity for that lady because she wasn't humane in how she handled him showing her immaturity and unruly behavior.

The manager immediately returned his gaze to Ryan.

"I promise that such an incident won't repeat itself it's my duty to make you comfortable." The manager politely spoke.

"I appreciate how you handed things speedily." Ryan replied as some shopping assistants held some of his bags.

The manager then signalled to the shop assistants to aid him with carrying those bags until he exited the mall.
