The tension at the counter was high with Rebecca moving to quell the disturbance.

“Excuse me, sir, but could you please not do this? You already had a spot in the line and so cutting the line here isn't ethical at all.”

“Oh please, shut up Rebecca.” Her co-worker who had helped the couple that cut the line during their shopping, stepped forward. “You can be stupid but that doesn't mean the rest of us have to continue in your stupidity.”

“What are you talking about?”

“It's clear for everyone to see that the ‘people’ you helped with shopping are beggars and nothing more. I dare say they'd just end up wasting our time with declined cards and word of mouth. There's no way they'd be able to afford anything here.”

“Never judge a book by its cover,” Rebecca replied only for her co-worker to snort.

“You can say that all you want but the truth is that these people are just going to waste valuable time for more important customers, like Mister Tim and his lover, Miss Amber. So excuse you, but y
