Chapter 6

Caroline's colleagues waited in anticipation as they murmured amongst themselves.

“Just wait, you'll see he'll try to run away now.”

“Hmmph, though that Caroline is just too foolish, we aren't, let's see how she would still be considered better than us for falling for such a petty scammer.”

However, contrary to their expectations, Ethan waited until Caroline returned with the Card reader.

Thinking inwardly, he communicated with the system. 'I need a Card.’

[What type would the host like?]

'Which ones are available?’

[Black Card, Blackgold Card, Silver Card, and Gold Card. According to your account balance, you can only get a Black Card]

'Then what was the need to ask me what type I want?’

[...]

'Oh gosh, just give me a Black Card.’

[Right away]

Just then, Caroline called his attention. “Uhmm sir, I've brought the card reader. Your card please?”

Though she was trying to act calm, she was somewhat nervous, after all, she'd heard her colleagues and was worried that Ethan was indeed a scammer.

She'd always been taught by her mother to see the best in people so she never judged based on appearances and that had served well in life but what if now it ended up going badly?

She sincerely hoped that wasn't the case, after all, the man's bill wasn't something her measly salary could afford.

“None at all, give me a moment,” Ethan remarked as he reached into his pocket and fumbled for a bit before retracting his hand, revealing a Black Card.

Caroline's colleagues nearly fell over themselves as they were shocked by the card.

Those in the city were well aware that a Black Card was only utilized by millionaires so that meant this tattered young man was a man with money?

Caroline was equally shocked as she hadn't expected the man to be that rich.

Ethan handed over the card. “Please deduct the bill from it and of course, don't forget the tip.”

“Tip?”

“Of course, you performed your job wonderfully, it's only right that I tip you.”

“But…”

“How about a 10% tip?”

Caroline's jaw nearly dropped.

10%?... But his bill was a hundred thousand.

That means… ten thousand as a tip?... That was way more than what she was making from her salary.

Caroline couldn't even control herself as she inserted the card and punched in the numbers.

Ethan made up a pin on the spot and once the payment was made, he remarked. “I look forward to seeing you again.”

With that, he casually left, leaving Caroline stunned and her colleagues filled with regrets as they had ended up missing the opportunity to make a good impression.

Ethan left the store wearing one of the clothes he'd purchased.

It was a white shirt with milk-colored trousers and a pair of brown shoes to match.

He didn't bother wearing the suit jacket as it was summer and so, the sun wasn't exactly in a forgiving mood.

His appearance on the street caused a few ladies to stare at him, taken aback by the fact that one man could be so handsome.

Though curious to know if he still had a game, Ethan knew there was a death sentence hanging over his head and he still had almost 4.9 million to spend before nighttime.

Checking the Rolex he'd gotten, he found he only had 2 more hours before nighttime, hence, he had to hurry.

Taking a moment to figure out what next to buy, he quickly came to a decision.

Since he couldn't just rush into getting accommodation, perhaps a car was the next best thing.

So he hailed a cab down and headed to the most popular car retail center in the city.

***

Just like TnC, SteelHorse was another reputable company in the city that was into the car business with ties to large conglomerates like the creators of Bugatti and Ferrari.

For this reason, not just anyone could step in as the price for a single car was equivalent to the lifetime earnings of a 60-year-old middle-class man and that was just for the cheaper cars.

Ethan didn't go directly to the company as he first decided to get a mask to prevent being discovered by the members of the Williams family, at least, not until he was ready to face them.

He understood that as he was, he wouldn't be able to make much of a difference so to even the playing field, it was best to lay low and conceal his identity for the time being.

So for that reason, he purchased a mask from a store after which he got the cab to take him the rest of the way to SteelHorse.

On arrival at his destination, wearing a clear white mask with a simple aesthetic, Ethan stepped down from the cab and made his way to the entrance of SteelHorse, exuding a mysterious vibe that caught the attention of those in his path.

However, just as he was about to reach the doors, he heard a familiar voice talking behind causing him to pause.

Furrowing his brows, he glanced in a certain direction only to be bombarded by surprise and hate as he stared at Jason who was in the company of another woman.

Ethan couldn't be more amused at the sight as he wondered how Lucia would feel knowing the man she wished to marry and was praising so highly was currently enjoying himself with another woman.

Perhaps the saying, birds of the same feather flock together, was quite truthful.

He watched Jason approach and even pass by him while romancing the woman he was with and whispering sweet nothings to her.

His intentions were quite clear judging from how he was behaving causing Ethan to come up with a plan.

Though he couldn't directly confront Jason as that would be unwise, he decided to play a little prank, to show the little shit his place in the world.

With his plan in place, Ethan moved to implement it.
