Interlude: The First Victim

Two cars. A luxury car and a sports car. These people lived in a giant house that could only be called a manor. I lived in a low-income apartment building. They were two cars that cost more than I've ever made working at Pizza Kingdom. I drove a short car from the 1980s that smelled like shit. I had one hundred and fifty dollars in my bank right now. Maybe two hundred. These people had peacocks in their yard, watching me like I was a bit of filth on the ground.

I hated them. Whoever these assholes were, I hated them. It wasn't fair, I knew that, but goddamn it, I couldn't help myself.

I marched up to their driveway and slammed my thumb into the doorbell. The door opened right away, like the person on the other side was sitting there waiting for me.

He looked like he was in his twenties. This bastard was younger than me. He smiled when he saw me. "You're Jehan?"
