Chapter 16
Sloshing, shifting red to orange, liquid in the lava lamp produces a special kind of eccentricity in the lab office. The ambiance in the darkroom becomes something like a neon steampunk-themed lightroom as it lost its purpose with the mixing glow beyond the dimness. On a table in the corner are several blood infusion chambers with needles that are all badly bent or ruined.
They’re all A-grade equipment provided, insisted, by the **** company. None of them are disposable types. More, like the ones you’d see in a science fiction movie about monsters and patching bodies, all metallic and stainless.
They are for several chemical transfusion tests, administered to the captive Primer aptly named Test Subject. A decision the staff made because their imagination and flair flew out the window. Much easier to remember, even after shortening it to TeSu.
There was never a dull moment upon its arrival since yesterday,
Following through with the other roster of human similarities in the body scan of TeSu that took quite a turn for awe or what others would say, “something expected, but at the same time, you feel surprised in the same way” sort of reaction.Sifting through the printed report and seeing all body parts have a staggering eighty percent commonality with the human body, preferably that of a female. Included in this document was an estimated favorability of what kind of female physique TeSu compares. The accuracy may not rate high enough to a standard Patraika assumed Reina considers as an acceptable score. But this proposed factor will remain in the long run for the program to pick through as she believes it will bear fruit if involved.Patraika included this note in the comparison report. Flawlessly managing to collect all this data before the end of yesterday was like a miracle she thought only to experience back in college. Even her disbelief at how lo
Pointing her held fork on the paper, Reina continued. “Those are humans harmed by nature, an influence whose origins we have no idea where it came. If we allow that drastic change to continue, what will become of our world, Patraika? Centuries of development gone to waste in one night? That’s not what we want our future to be.“Do you think it justified to stop thinking we need to do our best to solve this? Any countermeasure we can create that works are better than letting that thing have its way just because we know it’s letting us. The creature is underestimating us, Patraika, and that’s not a creature you want to waste your pity. We are not doing this for nothing; remember that.” Reina finally said as she fixed her utensils and tapped on her tablet to call over the staff.Swallowing her doubts, she stopped watching the video. “Where’s the finalized report for this?”Tapping on the tablet, Patraika receive
Considering the willy of an appendage needs to be included, than just the entire body affected by the drug. Because of this thought, Patraika ordered someone to prepare another dose of the toxin. This time it will be administered around the area of the legs and hips. They had to account for the possibility that, even if now and then the tail moves albeit, in small movements, it is not a guarantee that its non-effect will spread towards the torso and the rest of the body.Explaining this was easy to the staff, their experience apparent, despite only doing their duty as toxin injectors for about two days, approximate. Their goal was easy, aim at the skin between the hip and leg joint, disregard targets pain reception.Knowing the tail appendage and the legs’ anatomy meant it would be a supposed easy feat. Because of the way the hips protrude, leaving an arching space to lever that part of the thighs, it’s easy to guess without double-checking that the
There seems to be a mucous-like membrane wrapping around this, what Patraika can describe as, a stomach-like box looking bloated and satisfied with only water for its source of fill and nutrients. The membrane was cloudy to look, like clear white gelatin that melted on warm water. Bending forward as she tried to smell the substance, her face frowned as she took a picture while pulling it from where it wrapped around.Flimsy by sight but its consistency looked strong in terms of durability. There is a flexible quality in how it follows every part of the organ it wraps around as someone pulls it off the stomach like a layer of skin.Storing it on a container felt important, but the moment Patraika pulled it from the rest of it, it disappeared from the end of the forceps. Frowning, she tried thinking of something before asking one of the staff to fill a tube with a bit of water, just enough to fill the bottom. They looked at Patraika like she asked for something ab
Chapter 17Watery eyes made Min-Ain blink several times, a way for him to retain the little strength he got from drinking the energy drinks he ordered through the concierge. The hotel avoids canned products that are suspiciously low in quality. If a resident insisted on it, they would recommend their own or a different way to keep their wakefulness. Alas, Min-Ain preferred the convenience store type.Living in the suite had not given him the impression of luxury, just the pure bliss of skipping steps in life. Chores have been part of his routine back in his old life, and even here, he would continue doing so. He did things even if he knew he could just let the hotel do it for him. Nothing from the upgrade he received stopped him from fixing his things or putting his dirty laundry or dishes in their rightful place for him to clean.Seeing the maids roam the room to do the menial jobs was nothing for Min-Ain. At least their existence th
The list of cities the results showed varied from G, A, C-city, and five others in-between, all where the “couples” reside. They never strayed away from D-city yet managed to stay away from it during the course. The creepy part was that each match was a spouse who varied in gender and age. Their ages in G-city from centuries ago as an old couple never strayed and all showed about the same. So was the way their gender or age gaps interchanged. An exaggerated example of this would be the fifth couple on the roster. The couple is the last Caucasian on the list and what’s unique about their tandem is the glaring age gap they have from each other. The seventh in the list played with racial combinations. The eight wanted to come back as an old couple but with racial differences from each other. The variation goes on.The interval between how long each couple lived in the city they chose differed by a factor Min-Ain can only guess, but it ranged from
Upon waking, looking like a reminder of Eldrics godchildren he doted on, they sat in the dining room to start eating.Amidst the chewing, Eldric started their conversation with, “Seems like your eyes have deteriorated into dry balls of sand.”“I’ve had worse,” Min-Ain replied as he continued blinking his watery eyes. “Though I never thought I’d be doing so much reading in one day.”“As we always say, you will never get used to it, but you would probably experience tired wakefulness that you’ll be numb to the pain of not sleeping,” Eldric said poetically amidst chewing. “Mind if I ask about that file you sent me?”The boy looked at him nodding. “I’m not surprised.”“Were you aware of the things you sent me? I can understand most of the documents related to D-city and G-city, but a whole search file of people unrelated to ‘Dimension Pocket&rsqu
“Reason why I’m heading over. No point justifying things through a video call. Anything can be hidden in this matter, though I doubt she’d keep anything under the rug.“Do your work, I can’t let this matter slip, but the rest can move on as they should.” Prof. Tenorio said with a finality in his voice.Eldric recognized this tone, he knew Prof. Tenorio would never sleep in relaxation by the end of this day, and all they could do was walk forward. Or, at least, his side of the project. The last seconds of their conversation ended with Eldric telling Prof. Tenorio to call his husband, reminding him not to wait for a five-minute voice message about missing their anniversary, reminiscent of that one time a year ago. Scoffing at the memory, Prof. Tenorio ended their call and then let himself nap. They still have fifteen minutes till Northwoods. His trip from sending supplies to A-city, and having a brief conversation with th
