Chapter 21 (part 2)

Perri’s warning didn’t stay long though as the Primer pushed through Horaz, puncturing his side, and reaching for Perri and Bernice. The creature pulled the two girls from the jeep after jumping off, it seemed like its goal was met as it growled. Sniffing at what it held, the two girls hugged each other, cushioning the pain of being compressed by a thick hoof. Both could feel the creature squeeze them without consideration or hold them tighter in warning, try any other thing but escape.

The growl turned into a mightier roar mixed with purring coming from its chest. Perri is aware of the sudden change in its demeanor as it showed signs of interest to her most. Holding Bernice for dear life, she whispered to her in a shivering voice. “I’m—I’m sorry...you sho—shouldn’t have been—”
