Chapter 12: Level 0 magic

Harry took the book and looked at it it had a dark brown cover and on the front it said 'Basic Wizarding Knowledge' Harry opened the book and read through it. The book contains knowledge about novice wizards, including what Shank previously told that a person would be considered a novice wizard if that person possessed at least one mana orb of one thousand strands of mana.

After turning the page again, Harry finally neared the end of the book. Harry looked very happy when he arrived at the end of the book because there were several magic spells. A novice wizard could only cast level 0 magic spells and the higher the level of his apprentice wizard, the stronger the level 0 magic he could use.

Magic spells are divided into 10 levels, from level 0 to level 9. Apprentice wizards can only use level 0 magic spells and if they succeed in becoming junior wizards then they can only use some magic above level 0. In this book there are only 5 spells level 0 magic consisting of the elements fire, water, darkness, wind and light. At least this book can be useful for Harry to learn fire and light magic spells level 0 while for water, earth and wind magic spells. Harry couldn't wear it because he was not compatible with the element.

The level 0 spell for fire magic in the book was as simple as 'Fireball'. As the name suggests, the fireball magic spell is that the magician can turn his mana into magic in the shape of a fireball and then shoot it and cause an explosion. The more expert the wizard and the more mana they have, the more fireballs that appear will have a greater number and will be stronger.

As for light magic level 0 in the book it is called 'Little Healing Magic'. As the name suggests, this magic is useful for healing wounds but only on minor wounds. If one were to be separately injured such as losing a limb or being attacked in vital organs then this little healing magic would not work. Harry decided to learn this magic as well, even though it could only heal minor wounds this magic could be very useful in certain conditions.

For the first time, Harry read the technique of using level 0 fireball magic first with full concentration. In the book, it is written that in order to use fireball magic, a magician with the fire element must expel some of the mana they have in their body first and then if the mana has been successfully released it needs to be stabilized so that the mana does not disappear immediately. When mana is stable, the magician will try to turn the concentrated mana into fire and then stabilize it again so it doesn't explode and injure himself. For magicians who are new to using fireball magic, it is recommended to cast the spell first because if they cast the spell, the mana used will more easily turn into a fireball and will be more organized.

This book also advises wizards to use magic wands in practice. After all, the level of magic can help magicians make magic faster and stronger. The better the magic wand used, the magic produced will also be better. Therefore, in order to practice using a magic that was not yet understood it was better to use a magic wand that could assist in practicing at first.

But at this time Harry did not have a magic wand, so Harry was forced to practice using magic without the help of a magic wand at this time.

This book also explains that magic wands also have elements. The elements in the wand depend on the material used to make the wand. If the material used to make the wand is made from the core of a fire elemental beast then the wand will be of the fire element. The magic wand will only help the power of magicians who are of the same element. So a fire elemental magic wand can only help a fire elemental magician to cast magic.

If another elemental magician such as an earth elemental magician uses a fire elemental magic wand then it won't work. Fire elemental wands will not give any advantage to Earth elemental mages if equipped with them. Therefore, a material that matches the element that a magician has in making a magic wand is needed

.But for advanced magicians, they don't need to cast magic. Because casting spells will only make the magic used slower and easier for the enemy to detect. So, they used magic without needing to cast magic spells.

After reading the book Harry started to put it away again and sat down. He closed his eyes and felt the existence of mana in his body. Harry could see that at the center of his body was currently a ball of regularly flowing strands of mana.

Harry slowly started trying to get some of the strands out of his body. However, the mana strands didn't obey as Harry wanted and instead returned to the mana orb. Harry sighed "It seems I still need a long time just to practice removing some of the mana from the body."

But he still didn't give up and kept trying to extract a strand of mana from his body. After hundreds of attempts, when several strands of mana had approached his hand and were about to come out suddenly the mana stopped and returned to the mana ball.

Just as Harry had given up hope, he realized he still had it and moved it out of Harry's arms. A strand of mana managed to escape, but after that it shook and disappeared. Seeing the blade of mana that had disappeared, he was excited again because he managed to extract mana from his body even if it was only a single strand.

In the midst of the excitement, Harry wanted to try to get his mana back out but when he wanted to try it his body felt very tired and immediately fell into a pile of grass. Harry was surprised and opened his eyes slowly, when he wanted to sit up his head immediately hurt so he had to lie down again.

"What really happened to me?" asked the confused himself.

At that time a figure appeared who immediately approached Harry and helped him up. The figure was Shank, Harry was then helped by Shank to sit leaning against a tree. Shank suddenly gave Harry a bag that Harry himself didn't know what was in it.

"What is this? Water?"

"Drink first, right now you're exhausted from running out of mana. You've been training for more than 5 so I suggest you rest first. This is the pure water I took from the hot air balloon before."

Harry then thanked him and opened the lid of the leather pouch and took a sip of the water inside. The world doesn't have drinking bottles, so most people use water bags to store clean water for drinking. After drinking the water, Harry felt refreshed and he saw that the sky was already dark.

"Thanks Shank. I guess I should sleep now."

"You better rest now, I'll watch over you while you sleep." Shanks said.

Shank then disappeared and soon Harry fell into a very deep sleep due to his previous mana drain.
