Chapter 3: The First Task

"Hello, Host. The Super Rich System is divided into four parts. The first part is the Task System, where your funds are unlimited but can only be used to complete tasks and cannot be diverted! There will be rewards upon task completion."

"The second part is the Daily System, which adds $100 to the Host's discretionary funds every second. As the Host's level increases, the Super Rich System will provide more money per second, such as $200 at level two."

"The third part is the Superpower Market, which can only be purchased with Super Rich Coins. The market includes the Invisibility Technique, Iron Man suits, X-ray Vision, and more."

"The fourth part is the Fortune Wheel, which can only be played with Super Rich Coins. Every 50 Super Rich Coins allows one spin."

"The Host is currently at the lowest rank of 'Tycoon Apprentice.' To reach the second rank of 'Tycoon Employee,' you must spend 10 billion dollars."

After the Super Rich System finished its introduction, Evan's mind conjured an interface akin to an iPad, divided into five sections, named "Loser's Personal Information," "Tasks System," "Loser's Funds," "Superpower Market," and "Try Your Luck."

Although these names left Evan speechless, his heart was pounding with excitement: "Hahaha, I, Evan, am on my way to becoming a super-rich tycoon! Hahaha, I'll charm not just one, but ten campus beauties!"

"No! Your first task isn't to charm ten campus beauties," the Super Rich System interjected with the first mission:

"Host, your first task—purchase a watch befitting your status!"

"Mission briefing: As the Host of the Super Rich System, you should have a strong concept of time, as every task has a time constraint. Therefore, please go purchase a watch to your satisfaction within two hours. If the task is successful, there will be no reward; failure will result in system unbinding! Note: Since the System has been integrated with the Host's brain, unbinding will lead to the Host's death."

Baffled, Evan retorted, "Enhance time awareness with a watch? No need! My phone shows the time! Skip this task and give me something better, like buying luxury cars or mansions."

The Super Rich System fell silent.

"Fine! Off to buy a watch it is!" With a flip of his bangs, Evan strode with purpose toward Lumina City's largest department store—Starlight Mall.

Starlight Mall, a bustling hub of activity, sat at the heart of Lumina City, drawing countless shoppers daily.

Evan sauntered to the bus stop, preparing to catch the 007 line in ten minutes, when the voice of the Super Rich System echoed in his head again: "Buses are slow, a waste of time. Remember, Host, you have only two hours! Time is money!"

Are buses really not an option? Is taking the bus a waste of time?

Isn't there a two-hour limit? An hour by bus and an hour to purchase the watch seems ample!

"This system is too demanding!" Evan muttered, wondering if the cost of alternate transportation, necessary to complete the task, could be reimbursed.

Resigned to the system's whims, Evan hailed a taxi.

The taxi zipped through the streets, reaching Starlight Mall in a mere fifteen minutes. Evan ascended to the sixth floor—home to electronics and luxury watches.

Unexpectedly, he had to halt, as he encountered a familiar face—his ex-girlfriend, Alyssa Ramos.

She was delicately made up, strolling past the iPhone counter with Anthony, flaunting a brand new iPhone 15 Pro Max in hand, her face adorned with a smug smile.

"Anthony, I never imagined not only does your family have a strong background, but you're also so capable. You joined the largest company in Lumina City, Prosperous Group, as the Chief Technical Officer, with an annual salary of over a million dollars, and gifted me such a wonderful phone. You're so much better than Evan!"

Anthony, with his buck teeth and gold-rimmed glasses, sneered, "Alyssa, don't compare me with such people. I have a father who's the mayor. With him covering for me, the chairman position at Prosperous Group is mine to take. What's a phone to me? Besides, I'm a bit tired; let's go back to the hotel and watch TV for a while?"

Their voices, loud and filled with pride, seemed to announce their status to the world.

"Damn it, why such bad luck to run into this wretch again," Evan cursed inwardly. But as he silently berated them, Alyssa's gaze suddenly fell on him.

"Oh, isn't that Evan? The famously impoverished also shops at Starlight Mall?" Her smile vanished as she approached Evan with Anthony, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "Spotted something you like? Can you afford it? Shall my new boyfriend lend you some money?"

Evan's eyes turned icy, his gaze sharp as a blade: "Step aside!"

For such a woman, even one more word was a waste to Evan.

"What? You're telling me to move?" Alyssa's face darkened with mockery. "What are you? Daring to tell me to step aside? A worthless pauper like you, I must have been blind to have been involved with you. Look at my boyfriend now, Dominic Taylor's son, Anthony Taylor, the Chief Technical Officer of the world-renowned Prosperous Group! He's a hundred times better than you!"

At that moment, Anthony, who had assaulted Evan just that morning, stepped forward. Adjusting his glasses with an air of magnanimity, he addressed Evan, "I forgot to introduce myself this morning. As the CTO of Prosperous Group and with a modest fortune, I'm making over a million dollars a year. Tell you what, pick out anything you like here, and I'll buy it for you as a thank you for looking after Alyssa for a year."

His words were laced with conceit, his chin held high, as if mirroring Alyssa's arrogance.

"Fine by me," Evan replied with a nonchalant smile, "Follow me, I'm here to buy a watch."

Within a few steps, they arrived at a counter—a Richard Mille boutique.

"How much is your most expensive watch?" Evan inquired coolly.
