Making Money

As the sun rose to brighten the sky a certain man did something similar. He rose to hunt for money.

"There are auction houses in this world, right? There has to be."

Yen spoke to himself as he walked down the road.

{There exists an auction house a few blocks away.}

Unexpectedly, the system replied to Yen's words.

'How the hell did you find out about that?' Yen asked with suspicion and happiness.

{I possess a map of any world the user visits.} The system replied.

"A map of any world as soon as I visit it? Seems like too much of a cheat."

'Either way, lead me there.' Yen smiled as he commanded Stem, his system to lead him toward the auction house a few streets away.

{In that case, go left at the next stop…}

The system began giving out directions to its owner like a passenger directing a taxi driver.

"I want one of those!" Yen's eyes widened at the sight of a man riding a bicycle across the street.

He had memories of all available means of transportation available on Earth but since he had no means to afford any of them, he had been walking since he arrived on Earth the previous day.

Since the bicycle was a cheap means of transport, Yen decided that he would get one.

{You do know how much it costs, right?

Besides, you have not a dime to acquire a bicycle!

But since you want that, you've got another reason to complete this mission and make money.}

Stem scolded Yen in a relatable way.

"Yes, yes. We're heading to an auction house, aren't we?" Yen asked, his words heard by a lady who looked around to see who he was talking to but found no one.

{Take the next right and then stop in front of the grey two-story building you'd see.}

Yen did as instructed and arrived in front of the grey building.

The whole front of the building was covered with grey glasses and even the door was of the same material and color.

Yen walked into the building and found a reception office. He headed there and met a lady there who greeted him the moment he approached her.

"Good day sir, how may we help you?" She asked in a polite tone.

He heard Stem's voice in his head. {Tell her you're here for the auction. Mainly as a seller and not a buyer.}

"Good day. I'm here for the auction, mainly as a seller and not a buyer." Yen introduced himself as he had been instructed by the system.

"Oh, what would you like to sell today?" She asked and Yen revealed the pill in his hand.

Stem began passing words to Yen that he would speak to the lady. "While digging through an ancient tomb a few weeks back, I came across a few of these pills. Their function is something you'll have to see with your own eyes.

{Now lie about how it had saved you a few days ago.} Stem advised and Yen did just that. His lie stunned even the system.

"I call them the Miracle Pills. The reason for the name was a result of an incident that happened a few days ago. Stabbed in the heart…" Yen pointed to the bloodstain on his robe.

"Before my last breath, I took a few of them and I was healed…"

{Hey! That's not entirely true! Although it can heal most injuries, a heart injury would require more than one.}

'Then I'll just have to tell her that.' Yen responded to the system's warning.

"I'm afraid we'll have to see my boss for something like this." The lady walked out of the room and gestured to Yen. "Please come with me."

They walked into an office not too far from the reception where Yen met a man with brown hair and a suit. His eyes were covered by dark shades.

"Boss, he'd like to talk to you about something." The lady informed her boss.

After getting permission, Yen began speaking again, explaining his lies, line after line.

"There were fifteen of these pills and I took five of them when I was stabbed in the heart. I had an intuition it would take that much to survive a stab to the heart and here I am today."

"Since I'm left with ten pills, I'm willing to give out two of the pills for testing and the other eight will go for sale."

Yen bargained with the man.

Handing two of the pills to the man for tests.

He stared at Yen suspiciously for a while. "You won't be leaving if it turns out to be a lie so get that through your head."

"I certainly am being honest." Yen nodded his head.

'These cost 10SC each. I better make at least twice that amount after selling them all.' Yen plotted his future in front of danger.

"Fine." The man took a pencil and stabbed himself in his left palm leaving a see-through hole when he removed the pencil.

"I'll test it myself. if it turns out to be a lie, you would've ended up offending someone you shouldn't have."

He took one of the pills and swallowed.

Before it even passed through his throat, it dissolved, releasing a fragrance that wafted the room as he breathed out.

The pill began its work a few seconds later as the man's palm began closing, leaving him both shocked and regretful.

He had wasted one of such a limited amount of pills and certainly, he would have to waste another in front of the buyers to promote the other pills.

He evaluated the effectiveness of the pill as within seconds, the hole on his hand had disappeared.

"This could easily go for hundreds of thousands of Khartos."

"We'll sell this pill of yours and split the share 80-20. You'll take the bigger part while we take the other one. Don't worry, we'll make sure they go for as expensive as they can be sold."

The man jumped out of his chair as he planned to head to the auction room immediately.

"Is there anything you'd like to get from our auction?" The man asked Yen before heading out.

{Just say you'd like to find out.}

Stem spoke to Yen and he answered exactly as instructed.

"Raya, attend to the customer. Take him to the auction room as a buyer and see to it that he gets what he wants."

He instructed the lady that had brought Yen to his office.

"Yes, boss." She replied with respect.

"One more thing, do not reveal the seller under any condition." Yen pleaded with the man.

"Have a great time." The man nodded at Yen before walking out.

Yen decided to go along with the lady as they both headed to the auction room.

He remained silent all the way there until he was seated. Raya sat beside him as she would make sure to get whatever item he chose.

The place had over a hundred seats and only when every seat was occupied did the auction begin.

"Ladies and gentlemen. We welcome you all to the 70th auction for the year and I can assure you all, the item you'll see today are of great quality, comparable to the best we've ever displayed." A lady in black robes and hair made into two buns walked up the dimly lit stage.

"First on the list today is an item from the east side of the city. The relic of one of our fallen heroes."

The item was revealed, encased in a glass box.

"The weapon that Hero Yun Shan used in the battle against the enemies that fought to claim this land."

"The starting price is two hundred thousand Khartos!" She called the price and the bid began.

"Two fifty!"

"Two seventy."

"Three hundred."

The price kept rising until it hit five hundred thousand and was purchased by a fat-looking man.

"The next item on the list…"

The lady introduced item after item but Yen didn't seem interested in any of them.

One by one the items were sold until finally, someone took over from the lady.

The boss of the auction house himself climbed up the stage.

One of the major reasons why he had come was to see how much these pills would cost.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we've entered the important part of the auction. From here on out, only the best of the best would be revealed to you all."

"Our first item on this list is the original staff of Alheid, sent by an anonymous seller."

Gasps escaped some mouths in the room at the mention of Alheid. It was obvious they knew who it was.

"The starting price is a million Khartos."

"Two million!" Another voice answered immediately.
