Fred continued his suggestion, "Let's duel, one from my side and one from yours, lord Tejasv. Both sides would clash with no intervention whatsoever. The side that wins may bask in the glory of others' slavery or blood. What do you say? Isn't this a marvelous way to decide the outcome between us?"

His proposition was certainly good for a man about to die. He planned things through to save his skin from the mess before him. Tejasv found him in his tracks, so Fred had to either fight until he died or maybe try to buy some time.

Tejasv grinned and said, "Lord? Well, I like the sound of that! And Ah! about your proposition of a duel: I like that idea and even your intention behind that."

Tejasv realized Fred wanted to fight his way out of here with his subordinates' strength. Even if he gets defeated here, what more will happen? He’ll talk his way to pleading submission before Tejasv and becoming his subordinate, but Tejasv wasn't one to not infer these intentions.
