They'd been driving at full speed for hours and the horizon was now tinted with an orange hue. The rain had also long stopped its frenzy although the area over the battlefield field was still overcast.

The car revved its last somewhere around Upper Manhattan so they had the alight from the vehicle.

All of them were mentally drained as they looked for an intact or semi-intact building to take shelter in.

The faces of everyone there was pale from dread at the near death encounter. For the original members of the cohort, this wasn't their first time but for Maric and Samuel Baker, this was their own near death encounter, their own narrow escape episode.

The soon found an intact building to hide within and they did so promptly. Eric had alerted them that the area was relatively safe for their level with ogres, goblins and imps here and there.
