Chapter 7: World Merge.

[Stage two, World Merge, of the World Awakening has commenced. Do well to survive]

…was the message every Awakened got before the whole of Earth was plunged into a tremendous earthquake.

Whatever was left standing of the city buildings started to come down to dust, leaving the really strong ones.

“What is going on?!” Chuck panicked, his voice vibrating as he clutched whatever he could for balance.

Eric, hell, everyone was trying to make sense of the situation; the quaking, the eerie ambient noise coming from everywhere.

‘Is this it? Is this how we'll die?’ Eric asked himself as subtle destruction happened all around him.

[The infusion of Elastris Hel has begun.]

Everyone saw this screen in front of them and the quaking got worse.

“Ah yes. This is how we'll definitely die.” Nelson chuckled, hope nearly lost from his face.

After about 10 minutes the quaking stopped, or rather reduced to slightly inconceivable tremors.

Relief flooded the cohort, as they smiled again, but Eric wasn't smiling.

In fact, he was as pale as a four-day corpse.

“Are you okay?” Erica placed her hand on her brother's shoulder. “You look sick. Wanna puke?”

Nelson smirked, about to make a quirky comment when the sky tended apart to reveal stars, planets and constellations.

Everyone was taken aback by the beauty of the scenery.

“H– hide.” Eric muttered, his voice shaking.

“Huh!” Nelson diverted his attention towards him.

“Hide!” He shouted and took off for the nearest building.

Everyone was taken by surprise by his sudden actions and looked at each other.

Nelson frowned, glanced back up and sprinted for the same building.

Seeing that the supposed strongest had ditched the open street for shelter, they didn't waste time at all.

Soon all of them were inside the building with Nelson standing over Eric.

“Explain.”

Eric however seemed to be having a mental crisis. He was sitting in a fetal position, sweating profusely.

“You guys couldn't feel them. Their rage, their intent, it was suffocating. And there were many of them.” Eric replied breathing heavily.

Nelson crouched to his level and looked him in the eye.

“Who are they?” Nelson asked softly.

Eric met his soft gaze with a frightening worrisome one.

“Animals, beasts from beyond. All their feelings pouring into this world… it's maddening.” Eric replied clutching his hair, hyperventilating.

Erica pushed through all of them and embraced her brother.

“Hush now. It will be fine. Hush now.” Erica said softly caressing his hair.

Chuck looked at the scene and shook his head.

“OG fodder man. You're a man, man up and stop being a wuss.” Chuck said, trying to fire him up.

Nelson wasted no time as he smacked his fist into Chuck's nose.

“You don't get to call him that, you lard bag.” Nelson growled before looking at Eric again.

“When are they coming?” He asked in a stern tone.

Eric chuckled, he seemed to have calmed down a bit but he was still pale.

“Coming? They're here.” He said as he broke a cold sweat.

These words caused slight panic as fear gripped their hearts.

“Well I don't see th-” Chuck's words were drowned instantly by an earth shattering roar.

Everyone clutched their ears and gritted their teeth because of this noise.

Fear gripped Eric's heart when he saw the message before him, or rather messages…

[Analysis: An Ace Grade 2, World Wyvern, is in the vicinity. Be advised!]

[Analysis: A Ace Grade 1, Demon Imp Monarch, is in the vicinity. Be advised.]

[Analysis: A Supernatural Grade 5, Greater Dire Bat, is in the vicinity. Be advised.]

[Analysis: A Legendary Grade 9, Abyssal Worm, had descended into the world. Be advised.]

More red alerts like this kept coming in as utter abominations kept trooping in from the torn space in the upper atmosphere.

“A legendary creature! A legendary creature is here.” Eric bit his lips hard, tears streaming from his eyes.

Nobody knew the true implications of having ‘zoopathy’ in the presence of formidable beasts and monsters, especially one that was 2 or 3 classes above you. All their murderous intent will be felt by him even if it wasn't directed towards him. He would be able to hear their chaotic thoughts and if he remained there, he might actually run mad.

[Nah! This won't do.]

The message appeared before everyone with the system as they simultaneously hear an entity's voice.

With the voice, time was suspended and everything was brought to a standstill.

In an unknown location, forever stuck at dusk or dawn, there was a fortress with an army of tens of millions stationed outside in perfect formation.

Within the fortress, a humanoid figure sat on a throne made from glistening black material. The inside of this place was dark, totally.

“The worlds are merging, sire. The mundane world has reached one seventh of the size of our world sir and the denizens are already descending into the world below.” An odd humanoid creature said as he was kneeling beige the entity on the throne.

The darkness stirred and a single soft green glow was visible from the thick darkness and that was the only part of the entity visible.

“Those impatient trashlings. Take with you an army of a million and prepare the mundane world for my coming.” The entity ordered, it's voice heavy and gutteral.

“Yes, my liege.” The creature acknowledged before standing up and preparing to leave.

Suddenly, the wide doors leading to the throne room opened as another creature came in.

“Your majesty is acknowledged.” The creature greeted with a bow.

“Speak.” The ‘king’ commanded.

“A creature has requested an audience with you. It calls itself, the emissary of god.” The creature spoke up, still bowing.

“Emissary?” The entity muttered, as though in thought.

“Let it in.” The entity simply said.

As soon as the command was given, a humanoid figure burst into the room. It was brightly lit and emitted an aura of the divine, it was the only thing that was bright in the room.

“Conqueror of the outer zone of Elastris Hel, your treacherous acts have reached the attention of my lord. And I have come, at his command, to order you to stop.” The creature bellowed.

The other creatures that stood beside the throne drew their weapons and began to move towards the bright figure.

The ceiling of the room was swarming with unknown monsters that were all at alert and baring their claws and fangs at the being of light.

The entity on the throne burst into laughter, hard laughter such that the room quaked and the creatures of the room cowered.

“Your lord told me… no, ordered me to stop my attempts of conquering more world. Let him come and stop me then.” The entity stood up from its throne, a mystical aura pouring from it.

Gravity increased a hundredfold in the entire realm as this creature raised its hand.

“This is the power of a Mystical second tier, you insect. Any last words?” The creature said as the void was conjuring in its hand.

“Kukuku.” The figure shrouded in light merely chuckled.

“You have refused to know your place, mystical second tier. I, emissary of the lord and a divine being of the eighth tier will put you in your place.” The figure shrouded in light said before its soft bright aura become hard and blinding.

“Wha-” This was what the ‘king’ could mutter before everywhere was drowned in a blinding flash…

In the mundane world, however, time had resumed but the chaos had subsided.

Everyone in the building were staring into empty space, or rather a screen.

[Due to unforseen circumstances, World Merge has been forcibly stopped.]

[An advancement will be given to everyone who survived.]

“An advancement?” Matt repeated before feeling an influx of energy and strength.

Everyone felt it.

“Eric, how are you feeling?” Erica asked concern etched on her face.

“The ravings have stopped and the abominations have dispersed but it remains a fact that they are still in the same plane of existence as we. I can feel their aura even if they are far away.” Eric replied before standing up.

“Are you sure it's safe to go out?” Nelson asked with a serious tone.

He had been petrified when those things descended into the world from yonder.

“Yeah, only fodder remain now.” Eric replied with a smile.

Nelson reciprocated the smile and walked out of the building.

“How's the hunt?” Erica asked the remaining members of the cohort that just arrived into the cave. “Futile. There are almost no animals or game in these woods.” Matt responded with frustration as he dismissed his shotgun construct, causing it to dissipate in a digital glitch-like manner. “Yeah, the forest was quite peaceful asides the occasional chirping of crickets and you know, normal forest ambiance.” Chuck added succinctly as he sat on a small rock and heaved a breath of relief. Chuck and Matt had gone out to search for food for the rest of the cohort while Maric and Mr. Baker went out to confirm where they were. “Nothing like I've seen before Eric.” Mr. Baker shook his head and sat down as he began recounting his scouting experience alongside Maric. Apparently they had gotten to land after the glacier and ocean current brought them here. And they got to this place on a misty night at the edge of a rocky cliff. “The forest on this part is quite normal, if I do say so myself.

  • Chapter 91: Exclusiveness

About two weeks had passed since the whole chaos of bounties ensued and the people now knew the consequences of their actions. The rewards of the bounties were automatically deducted from the one issuing the bounty, regardless of whether they had money or not. This has left many to be destitute in system currency and even many casually hunted. If one didn't know how to change appearance or hide from skills like Analysis and the likes, the hunted would not live a safe life. Following this development, as well, was the creation of several factions dedicated to bounty hunting and they have more or less ‘culled’ the useless bounties and claimed rewards for themselves, leaving the truly dangerous ones. Eric and co had finally reached land and it was a forest of some sorts, not too dense and not too sparse. They were currently residing in a cave, unsure of the next move they'll make. Amy and Nelson, especially Amy, were despondent about the fact that they lost something valuable that day

Everyone was adrift above a massive glacier, despondent and drained of all emotions and strength. There was an active ocean current propelling the glacier towards an unknown direction. Amy was still asleep and Nelson’s condition had stabilised due to his self-regeneration but it was still far from optimal. “What do we do now?” Chuck asked with a serious tone, seeing that Eric was just staring at the horizon where Jasmine and the man left for about six hours. “Cut it out, Necromancer. Let him process his thoughts and talk at his own leisure.” Matt refuted Chuck and shook his head. ‘He’s probably regretting keeping that girl alive back then.’ Matt mused internally before shaking his head. Countless moments of silence passed and Eric finally stirred, clenching his fists. The first light of day was just appearing from the horizon, painting it with a tint of surreal orange hues. Erica stood up from her spot on the glacier and walked towards her brother in hopes to get through to him.

After a moment's deliberation, he smiled and said; “Given the fact that it's from you, King Noel, it is utterly valuable. And Theft never lies, this is the heaviest skill you have and by the looks of it, you haven't even used it yet.” He then chuckled and rambled on, “I presume it's what makes you you and it is greater than the Samsara inheritance you possess.
