Chapter 6: Useless Trait?

They were all ready and fully armed, and they've understood each other's traits.

Matt's trait dealt with Armament Creation, and it allowed him to create modern weapons from nothing with a cool down time. He had supplied all of them with basic pistols before his mana points ran out. All his weapons come with infinite ammo enchantment.

Chuck's trait dealt with Necromancy, being able to raise the dead as an undead and he could only raise and control two undead at once. His skills are limited to creatures and entities on his level or below. He already had two undead demon imps on standby at the door.

Nelson's trait granted him the power of Pyrokinesis, the ability to manipulate flames and fire. Eric said he had the most potential presently since everywhere was blazing outside. He is also currently the strongest of the group.

Erica's trait centered around Cryokinesis, and it allowed her to create and manipulate ice as well as cold in her area. She currently has several basic icy daggers constructed and strapped to her.

“My trait is Zoopathy. I haven't sought out the details yet but on the periphery, it should allow me to… communicate with animals.” Eric spoke, his mood kind of dejected.

“Huh? What was that?! It allows you to do what?” Nelson said with his palm at the back of his ear.

“It allows for animal communication.” Eric replied but not loudly.

“Speak up fodder boy, it allows for what?” Nelson taunted, plastering a subtle evil smile on his face.

“It allows for animal communication, big oaf.” Eric yelled with exasperation, throwing his hands up in frustration.

“I can hear you clearly without you yelling, OG fodder.” Nelson yelled back before roaring in laughter.

‘Tch!’

“So while rich fodder is out there shooting guns and claiming glory, you'll be out here talking to rats and roaches?” He said before bawling out in laughter again.

“OG fodder through and through, my guy.” He added amidst laughter as he placed his hands on Eric's shoulders. “Don't worry, I take the wellbeing of my prey very seriously. You ain't dying on my watch.”

“Errr… thanks, I guess.” Eric replied with a soft frown on his face.

Everyone was ready, they were all dressed like robbers with several weapons visible and some hidden. They also had masks on their faces to emphasise this point.

‘Let me see what this skill, ‘Analysis’, looks like.’

Eric thought as he looked at his group of friends.

[Skill, ‘Analysis’ has been activated.]

The first screen appeared above Erica since she was the closest to him.

[[Awakened Information]]

[Name: Erica Jason]

[Race: Human]

[Level: 1]

[Class: Awakened]

[Grade: 9]

[Trait: Cryokinesis]

[Skills: None]

[HP: 100/100]

‘Basic information. Good thing it shows class, grade and HP. Wouldn't want to fight someone stronger than me.’

“What? Is there something in my hair?” Erica asked as she started to rummage through her hair.

“Rest easy, I'm just testing out a skill of mine.” Eric replied as he straightened her hair again.

“Oh? OG fodder has a skill? I'm impressed. So what's it called?” Nelson inquired as he looked at him with a taunting smile. “Critter summoning?”

Chuck almost choked on his saliva as he was very close to laughing.

Matt threw him a semi-hostile glance before looking at Eric expectantly.

“What's it called Eric?” Erica asked as well.

Everyone in the room had eyes on him and it pleased him so. He nudged his nose bridge as though he had glasses on and said.

“Analysis.” He declared proudly with a smile on his face.

“...” Nelson was speechless for a moment.

“That's actually pretty good.” He managed to voice out.

“Right?” Eric said, his ego swelling.

“Yeah, for a damn prey.” Nelson replied before chuckling.

“Pay him no mind, Eric. What does it do?” Chuck said, hoping to ease Eric.

“Pay me no mind! You're not even worthy of being called fodder, you dust! What subsidiary skill have you got, huh? Damn fatso, I should box your face.” Nelson growled at Chuck as his eyes glowed.

“Just like the name, it allows me access to basic information of targets, such as name, traits, skill, health and all of that.” Eric explained.

“Thought as much.” Nelson nodded thoughtfully. “It is useful indeed, jokes apart.”

“What? I don't have 15 intelligence points for nothing now, do I?” Nelson spoke up, when he saw everyone looking at him weirdly.

“Wait, you have 15?!” Chuck exclaimed.

“Yes, I'm far more intelligent than a speck of dust like you.” Nelson taunted.

“Can't believe Nel is actually more intelligent than me to be honest.” Matt spoke up with a wry smile. “I only have 14 intelligence points.”

“I have 16.” Erica spoke up and looked at Chuck. “How many intelligence points do you have?”

“10!” Chuck yelled as he grabbed his hair. “Hey Eric, how many intelligence points do you have?”

“Heh.” Eric only said before walking towards the metal bat in the corner.

“I have 21 intelligence points.” He declared with utter arrogance as he nudged his invisible glasses again.

“...” Chuck was devastated. He had his mouth open in shock and disappointment.

“Well I'll be damned. OG fodder strikes back.” Nelson said as he clapped his hands.

“Close your mouth dawg. You might catch a fly.” Matt said as he nudged Chuck's lower jaw.

“Let's compare stats. I want to know who really is fodder here.” Nelson declared standing on the sofa.

“Aiit bet.” Matt concurred with a smile.

Eric smiled and was about to agree when a message popped up in front of him.

[Analysis: A goblin horde is in the vicinity. Take heed.]

[Analysis: An Awakened Grade 8 creature, Orge Brute, is in the vicinity. Take heed.]

[Analysis: An Awakened Grade 8 creature, Orge Brute, is in the vicinity. Take heed.]

“Woah! We need to get out of here guys. Analysis detected two grade 8 monsters and a horde of grade 9s in the area.”

Nelson shivered involuntarily as memories of his fight with the imp flooded him.

“We've stayed too long in this area.” He said as he got off the sofa, preparing to leave.

“We'll pass through the makeshift alleyway at Mrs. Parker's house and head out of the street. I want us to find Amy as well.” Eric said as he checked himself for all his things.

‘Wait, I have an inventory dammit.’ Eric said when he noticed the bulk of weapons on him.

They had scoured the whole house for anything that could be used as weapons.

“Keep heavy weapons in your inventory guys. We'll need our speed.” Eric said.

“Way ahead of ya, IQ 21.” Nelson said as several knifes on his body glitched out of visibility.

“Why didn't I think of that?” Chuck said as his crowbar and shotgun glitched out as well.

Nelson looked at him incredulously.

“Punk, you're a fodder in terms of brainpower. I'm suprised you can even think!” Nelson spoke up before chuckling.

They were all ready to go for real this time. Eric had a pistol and his metal bat. Nelson had his beautiful crimson dagger in one hand and a pistol in another. Erica also had a pistol and a knife, her ice daggers floating all around her. Chuck, on the other hand, had his entourage of his two undead imps and a knife in hand.

“Where's your shotgun?” Eric asked.

“Leave me alone man.” Chuck said simply causing Nelson to chuckle softly.

“Fodder.” Nelson mumbled.

And with that, they moved out of the house ready to challenge the world.

“It's actually worse than I thought.” Eric spoke up as they walked, looking at the surroundings and the distant horizon. Every skyscraper in sight was either ruined or burning.

“Yeah. Imagine it getting worse than this.” Chuck replied.

As though the universe answered his prayers, everyone of them got a red system alert.

[Stage two, World Merge, of the World Awakening has commenced. Do well to survive!]

It started with a slight tremor, then an earthquake occurred.

Nelson gave Chuck a look of death as he tried to stabilise himself.

“Motherfu-” was only what he managed to say before an explosion occurred near them…
