CHAPTER 14
After cleaning the lawn, hall, and then learning to wash all the clothes using the washing machine with William’s help, and ironing the clothes, Gabe was finally able to get a break.

As he was exiting the house through the back door, Carrie gave him a box that had the leftover breakfast in it. It was a cream of wheat, which generally had nuts, spices, curry leaves, ghee, and more. However, in what was given to Gabe, there weren’t any nuts because they were all eaten by Carrie before she gave him the remaining food.

As she gave him the box she said, “Rest until afternoon and then come at two o’clock so you can wash the dishes.”

“Yes, ma’am, but…” Gabe hesitantly asked, “what about the payment? Is it daily? Or weekly?”

“We’re feeding you, aren’t we?” Carrie replied, “So why are you worried about the payment? We’ll give it to you in time.”

“Yes, thank you,” Gabe then went home and gave most of the food to his aunt, and she loved the taste and even remembered the last time she made th
