Five seconds.

This was too short of a time for Gabe to think and take a proper decision. The easiest choice for most would be to kiss Elvis’ feet and be done with it, though he might get harassed afterward. At least, Gabe would still be alive to live this way. If it was Gabe of the past, he would probably have taken that choice.

However, now, Gabe couldn’t lower himself to kiss Elvis’ feet, especially when Elvis was pointing his gun at Zuri, and she seemed frozen.

“E-Elvis, are you out of your fucking mind?” Zuri tried to talk some sense into him. “I’m not your subordinate. I only came here because Alan told me. Do you really think he’d let you go after you kill me?”

It was a gamble. Zuri knew enough about Elvis that he wouldn’t recklessly pick fights with the other five bosses of the gang: Alan, Bruno, Marcelo, Trey, and Britney.
