CHAPTER 18

Out of the money Mia had given Gabe, he gave 100 dollars to Monroe, one of the guys he owed, thereby turning him back into his friend. Monroe owned a grocery store. Gabe used to work there in the past, but he got fired because the debtors kept coming to the store and causing a scene, and Gabe’s friend couldn’t just take it.

But right now, Monroe allowed Gabe to buy things from the store. This was the least bit of mercy Monroe could show, and Gabe appreciated it.

Out of the remaining 100 dollars, Gabe bought food items from onions and cucumbers to other things that wouldn’t put stress on his aunt’s body. He didn’t buy any spices or refined products, because they would negatively affect his aunt’s health.

He came home and went to the rooftop to get eggs, but to his shock, both the hens and the rooster were gone. All he could see were feathers.
