CHAPTER 58

“Mia!” Gabe loudly asked as he rushed over to her. “Are you okay?”

His voice startled her and woke her up fast. She was initially scared, but after seeing Gabe, her heart stopped skipping. “Gabe, what are you doing here?”

He felt that she picked the words right out of his mouth. “I came here to breathe some fresh air, and I saw you. Why are you here at this hour? It’s not safe for you to be alone here at night.”

“I know,” she tapped the bench, as if telling him to sit.

Gabe didn’t say another word and sat next to her. There was a foot distance between them, though. He briefly glanced at her, and she didn’t look alright. (Was she crying again?) He remembered the last time when she was crying in her bedroom, while looking at the photo frame of her parents. “Did you come here to feel the breeze, too?” he asked.

“Kind of,” she replied and looked at the stars just for the sake of it. She then looked at him and said, “Can I ask you something?”

“Yeah. Sure. Anything.” He put the mobile aside
