“They are treating this like they were going on a goddamn trip!”

Adam told Marriane when she called him aside to talk to him.

Adam was about to lose his temper with the people before she called him aside, saying that she would like to have a talk with him.

“You can’t really blame them,son,” Marriane said as she gestured to the kitchen stool for him to sit on.

“I am fine,” Adam stated instead and he stood looking out of the window.

His eyes went straight in the direction of the place where they buried the baby but he kept his mind away from the disturbing thoughts of her.

“Do they not understand how serious this is? After all those deaths, they still do not understand how serious this is." Adam asked no one in particular, still looking out through the window.

“Of course they know. They do know. They are scared, too. That is why they are clinging to things that bring them comfort. A semblance of familiarity,” she explained gently.
