Chp 89 - The Temptation

“Scout everywhere! Find that bastard!"

Adam dragged the dead weight of Layla’s unconscious body behind him as he tried to swim with one hand.

He dove under the water and held his breath as the whirring blade of the helicopter came close to where he was.

Praying that he didn’t pass out or kill Layla in the process, he waited patiently until the light passed where they were.

“Check there! Check everything well. He shouldn’t have gone far! Master would have our heads if we did not bring the culprit to him!”

Adam gasped as he came to the surface.

He breathed in deeply as he lifted Layla’s head above the water.

He thought he felt her shiver but he couldn’t be sure.

Shivering had been the norm for her in the past few days.

After a better check, he realized that the water around had not been a river after all.

It was a constructed moat.

He had heard of rich people building houses with a big body of water surrounding them as protection or decoration.

Adam had never really seen one in person.
