He picked the call to hear what John had to say. Indeed, they had guesstimated accurate. He had just found out that Jane was the one that gave the agents access to his house to collect the documents he could not find. He had just called to let them know of it and that he was about to go looking for her for answers on why she had to do it.

Too bad for him, Jane was not at a position to answer the questions he thought of asking her. She was busy keeping Ruddick Company and getting cold by the day at the Kibich Central Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue.

As much as David would not want to deliver such news to him on phone, he had to. John could not get hold of himself. He broke down to tears. It was at that moment that he knew she would never betray him. The fact that she was dead said it all. Jane was the second best friend he had killed within the last one-month and the last of his best friends. Jean was the first he thought to have had killed.
