Chapter 14

Sarah walked outside the Mansion, out to the garden where she dialed back the number she had spoken to earlier within the mansion.

It was the Manager of United Bank, Mr. Derrick Jones.

" I am sorry, Miss Brown but there is absolutely nothing I can do to help you or Capitalize Escort anymore." Mr. Derrick's deep voice said over the phone.

"How on earth is that even possible? What did we do to make you change your mind so suddenly? We agreed to get the loan agreement signed tomorrow. You know how much this means to us and how much we need to save our company from winding down." Sarah pleaded.

Mr. Derrick listened to Sarah's pleaful tone while he drank from a bottle of wine. He knew how these people were.

"I can not do business with anybody who goes around harassing innocent businessmen like Mr. Peter Causey. I mean, he is such a respectable person." Mr. Derrick said, taking a bite from a lap of fried chicken on a plate his front.

"He tried to rape me! He drugged me! Mr. Peter Causey is just a monster! How can you even allow such a person to do business with you?!" Sarah screamed into her phone.

James, who had been worried about her the minute she left the house, snuck around the building and followed her.

He listened to her conversation with Mr. Derrick Jones.

"I am extremely sorry Miss Brown, but Mr. Peter Causey is a highly respected man in United Bank and a major part of our growth. We cannot help you or Capitalize Escort anymore. We will only hand over your accounts to you once the government approves the unfreezing of your accounts." Mr. Derrick murmured through a mouthful of chicken.

"I sincerely thought you were a man with standards, who could not stand to see others fall. Yet you are willing to harbor a criminal like Peter Causey? And even worse, you are willing to see a Company fall while he rises?!" Sarah uttered angrily.

Her words were fast becoming incoherent as she fought back angry words and tears.

James watched her stomp her feet angrily as she spoke to the person over the phone.

"You are the Manager of United Bank, and you have the final say in every matter" he heard her say.

The Manager of United Bank? He thought to himself.

Mr. Derrick rolled his eyes from exhaustion, he did not like going round in circles. It was the hardest part of his job.

He let out a heavy sigh and scratched his nearly balding head." That is the system of the world, Miss Brown and I am completely sorry. Thank you for your understanding." He said and hung up the call.

Sarah looked at the phone in her hand. The line had gone dead. She let out a loud shriek of anger as she realized he had hung up on her.

"No!" She yelled. Tears filled her eyes, threatening to spill, but she wiped them just as soon as they came.

"How dare you, Peter Causey?" She muttered to herself. "This can't be happening, no, this can't be happening," she said to herself.

"What would I do now? Who do I call for help? How do we get the loan to save the company? You bastard Peter Causey!" She cursed and stomped her feet angrily, she paced back and forth pondering on what step to adopt next.

She decided to confront the perpetrator of her peril.

Sarah found Peter Causey's phone number on her phone book and called him immediately. He answered the call almost immediately as it rang.

"I see the bird has finally come to roost. Now, you know that I alone have the power to save you from your current peril." Peter Causey boasted over the phone.

"Peter Causey, you dirty bastard, how could you?! How could you even think of manipulating the Manager of United Bank against me? How could you?!" Sarah fumed into his ears.

Peter Causey let out a hearty laughter that rang throughout the walls of his study. He had already expected to bask in the fury of Sarah Brown, this was priceless for him.

"Your torture is my delight, Sarah Brown, and I will continue to look forward to your dismay" he uttered satisfactorily.

"Why? What did I ever do to you? Was it a crime to seek business with you?!" She asked angrily.

"Business? Business you call it. Well, I completely agree with you, Sarah Brown. The only problem is that you and I both have different ideas of how I do business with people. Especially, lusciously, elegant, curvy, beautiful, young women like you" he said flirtatiously into the phone.

"You are nothing but a dirty, old, bastard who has no control whatsoever over the dirty rod hanging between his legs. If you think that I would let you win, then you must be joking" Sarah groaned out in a guttural voice.

"You should know better than to start a war you can't finish, my darling. I mean, I promise you would enjoy every bit of it, no drugs this time. I mean the drugs would have made you enjoy it even more, but...I'm just saying." Peter Causey laughed out.

"What do you want from me, Causey? What do you bloody want?!" Sarah vented, by yelling angrily at him.

"Nothing that I am not certain you cannot offer. You already know the answer to that, Sarah Brown. I am sure your dazzling eyes must be wide and sparkling by now with tears glistening there." He mused.

"I want to make things better for you, Sarah Brown and all you have to do is treat me well. Make me happy and everything will be completely settled for you." Peter Causey leered.

Sarah hung up the call angrily. She wished she had never provoked a snake such as Peter Causey.

On noticing that she had ended her call, James snuck out of the bush and walked away.
