Chapter 9

The security guard nodded at James turned his eyes back to Mr. Peter Causey and said- "Sir, you have to come with us now" he nodded at his men to take Peter away along with his unconscious guards whom James had beaten up and left for half dead.

James rushed to Sarah's side and immediately took off his coat and put it around her as he tried his best to lift her. He put his hand under her head gently helping her off the bed.

Slowly, even though she was still partially conscious, he met the Chief Security officer at the door and urged him to keep everything that had happened there quiet in order not to alert more attention than was necessary.

He knew Sarah would be utterly ashamed of the situation and hurt herself for even putting herself in that situation in the first place. He knew she would blame herself for all that had happened and he did not want her to deal with all of that.

"Please keep this quiet as possible, as much as you can. It does not leave the ears and eyes of this walls" he said to the CSO.

The officer nodded his understanding and James guided Sarah into an elevator, which took them back to the ground floor where he walked her outside gently without drawing much attention to himself or her.

"Try to walk steady, okay? I have got you and nothing will happen to you, okay?" He assured her. Putting his arms around her shoulder as she leaned her head into him, he walked casually, leading her with his feet so that the variety of people walking the lobby and reception area of the hotel would not notice that something was wrong.

He successfully got her out of the hotel lobby and to his great surprise just outside the hotel was a black Rolls-Royce parked by the entrance.

The man in the driver's seat honked the horn the minute he saw both of them walking up to the platform. James looked through the windows which were now rolled down and heaved a huge heavy sigh of disappointment. He knew this was a visit he dreaded so much.

He saw Sarah shiver as he held her, he pulled her closer to himself. He looked from her to the car still considering whether or not to get into the waiting vehicle. The driver honked the horn again and James diverted his gaze from the car to Sarah, her lips were turning white from the cold and she needed to rest.

Slowly, Sarah began to lose consciousness, it was this that made him rethink waiting for his car to arrive. Hence, he lifted her and helped her into the car as the driver pushed the Rolls-Royce open.

Sarah leaned into Thomas feeling chills roll down her spine as James shut the door and the driver locked it in. He rolled up the windows to avoid excess air from touching her.

She mumbled into his clothes as she cried, tears she could no longer control filled her eyes as the only thing she could remember were the cold, ruthless hands of that filthy Peter Causey touching her and groping her.

She mumbled a series of thank yous into James' clothes but James could not stand to listen to her cry. He used his hand to pat down her hair gently

"Shhhh, it's okay. You are safe now. Completely safe now" he whispered into her hair, as he rubbed his hand gently, decently up and down her back. He noticed that each time his hand went below her back to her waist area, she flinched as though hurt by his touch.

He could not tell if she had been injured or not, but his best guess.was that it was more psychological for her, after all a man had just tried molesting her and had almost raped her if he had not intervened at exactly the time he did.

The driver passed constant stares at them through the rearview mirror waiting for Sarah to either fall asleep or pass out from the effect of whatever was still bothering her. He knew from the way she spoke that she would soon be at peace and shut her eyes.

And he was not wrong, a few minutes into mumbling, she whispered another 'thank you' to James and fell asleep in his arms.

When James noticed that she had fallen asleep completely, he turned to the driver who had been watching them through his overhead mirror.

"I guess you were waiting for her to fall asleep just as I was." He said to the man whose eyes he could see had crinkled into a smile.

" You know me too well, Mr. Johnson, I have missed that you know? Not a lot of people can figure me out the way you do" he said to James bringing up old memories.

"Go straight to the point," James said to him refusing to play his game.

"The Boss sent me to you, he misses you and was wondering where you now live and what has been going on?" The man replied.

James pulled up his jacket which was wrapped over Sarah hugging her body.

"I am not returning anytime soon, Pablo, you can tell the Boss that. I have a business of my own to sort out and I need some more time. If it isn't urgent, I won't contact you or anyone else for that matter" James stated clearly.

"You know, the Boss is quite merciful, and even though he does not take too kindly with anyone who refuses him his request, nonetheless, he hears you and does not mind any of this as long as you have the money he needs, everything else is not his business or concern, just the money" the driver replied to James.
