Curiosity

Reynolds could feel the air getting tighter. Even though the capital he was guarding had a sun sphere surrounding it, he could feel the chill. He did not fully understand what was happening, and why the world was suddenly freezing up, but Reynolds knew that there was more to it.

So, as he watched the sun sphere from the top of a balcony situated centrally in the capital, he tried to imagine what would be going on in the palace at that moment. The battle started from there, so, it made sense that it was mostly concentrated there as well. He had tried to find ways to reach out to the palace but he could not.

He did not even have a telepath with him among the mages that defended the capital with him. And when he did a head count, he found out that there were only four of them left. They were about a dozen, but the northerners had killed the others when they attacked.
