There was darkness spreading over the capital. The snowstorm was blowing harder than it had been before and the dome flickered while the storm blew.
Alastair and Miranda dashed outside to behold what was happening. There were several other guards standing in awe by that time. They looked as the darkness kept spreading and each of them grabbed their Weapons tighter.Kevin showed up behind Drax and stood far away from the others. He watched the whole thing and said nothing in the process. He was not even interested in what was happening, and so, he turned around and walked out of the scene."What is happening?" Miranda asked as she kept looking. The energy from the dome flickered like it was rebounding something."He is trying to break the dome. He wants to freeze it." Alastair responded to Miranda. She gasped softly as he said the words and confirmed her fears. Miranda quickly took Alastair's hand and squeezed it."But he cannot do it, right? The sun sphere is pure sun energy. Freezing it is like freezing the sun. Is it possible to freeze the sun?" Elle asked no one in particular, but at that point, Alastair was not sure what impossible meant. If he was ever told that Cara could be defeated that swiftly, he never would have believed it. If he was told that his dragon would die like that, he would have laughed because everyone knew how durable dragons are. But there he was, gazing at the horror that was about to get unleashed."He cannot break through the sun sphere. I am certain of it." Drax said to Elle. Alastair turned around and looked at him."How do you know so?" He asked."I-my dragon told me. He said that the sun sphere was harnessed by the gods millions of years ago and contains pure sun essence. The sun was created to be the only thing that cannot be extinguished. But the sun spheres, like say turning into the night is capable of wearing out after some time.No matter what Corvius tries, he cannot break through the sun sphere unless you allow him to do so." Drax said to Alastair.Alastair understood what he meant. As the mage that cast the spell, he alone had the ability to modify it to his preference. He wondered how the rest of the kingdom was faring. Were they able to make use of the clones he sent out?"We need to check up on the Kingdom. If this is happening here, then they are in danger. I need to be out there protecting them. I do not want to lose my people. What kind of a queen will I be if I lose my people?" Miranda began to panic.Alastair turned to her."Do not worry. I will reach out to them now. But you know you cannot leave the capital. Corvius is waiting for you to do that but you will not do that, will you? I will reach out to them now."Alastair then turned to a guard."Send for the telepath Zora," he ordered and the guard dashed inside. He soon returned with a petite girl whose dark hair was plaited into a single lock. She bowed before Alastair and Miranda."You sent for me, High Mage?" "I need you to locate Reynolds," Alastair said to her. She was not so certain about the request."But, I cannot reach someone that far. My powers have limits. I'm sorry, High Mage." She said but Alastair exhaled."I will give you a boost..." Alastair said to her."Alastair!" Elle objected."I will amplify your magic by giving you some of my energy. I can do it as a dragon lord. Will you be able to find him then?" "I-I suppose so if he's still alive," Zora replied."Alastair, you already gave too much. This might cause severe damage to your body. Do you really want to risk it?" Elle asked him."The queen needs to be certain her people are safe," Alastair replied to her and she raised her hands defeated. She knew how stubborn Alastair was."Ready?" Alastair asked Zora who nodded. Then he touched her with his glowing hand and she took a deep breath in as the energy flowed into her.Alastair bit his lower lip as he began to feel intense pain from the process, but he did not stop. Zora exhaled while shuddering, and suddenly, her eyes turned white."Zora...Zora, what do you see?" Miranda asked her."I see winter through the eyes of a child. It's spreading." Zora responded."What else do you see? Can you see a sun sphere?" Drax asked. He needed to be direct for he knew Alastair had sent some out. Alastair was too pressured to even ask the questions by himself."Yes. I can see a sun sphere. It's covering the town where the child is. He is safe. There are other children here, and some adults. I see blood everywhere, but they are safe. I see some soldiers, and I see some mages-Elderien mages.""Speak to a mage," Miranda commanded.Zora grunted for some time while others looked at her and Alastair. He was beginning to bleed out from his nose and ears, and his eyes were red. Zora continued to grunt while the others watched in confusion."What's going on?" Miranda asked."Her powers have stretched beyond their natural limits. This will kill her if we continue. We must abort now." Elle said to Miranda."Abort. Abort now!" Miranda commanded and Alastair let go of Zora.Zora gasped as she fell to the ground and passed out. Alastair staggered back, eyes red with wounded blood vessels, nose bleeding, and ears dripping blood. Miranda looked at how bloody things had become. She took a look at the sphere and the darkness still hovered. "We need to rally the soldiers. We need to be ready just in case they breach the sun sphere eventually. Now I am at peace knowing that the people are safe. We need to make plans." Miranda said and looked around for Kevin but she could not see him. Alastair saw the worry in her eyes and as Elle attended to him, he brainstormed within himself to see if there was something he could do to make it all better. He wanted to do something to stop Corvius, but what could he possibly do?Alastair was confused, and as lightning struck the dome, he wondered if this terror was the end of Elderien. As the raging of the storms continued, Alastair walked inside. He could feel the entire environment getting toxic at the sight of his failure. As he walked into the palace, he wondered if that was how he would spend his last days, waiting for the day his death would come. But what could he do? He was defenseless, and he seemed useless.Maybe he should take a trip into Corvius' mind and destroy him from within. It would work, would it not? He Just needed to gather his strength and ask Zora to take the trip. Zora was a telepath, and she was capable of powerful things even if she did not know it. As Alastair contemplated the idea, he laughed within himself. He knew it was not going to work for obvious reasons.Zora could not manage such a task. It was beyond the scope of her abilities and Alastair doubted that someone as powerful as Corvius would just leave their mind unguarded. Did he even know the extent of Corvius' magic? He seemed to be a defensive mage. There was an aura of dark mag
Alastair staggered back as Drax mentioned the name. He had expected it, but he prayed it was not true. It wasn't supposed to be true. This was not supposed to happen. She told him she had aborted it. Or perhaps it was just a coincidence, perhaps it was another Sarah. It was a pretty common name."What do you know of your father?" Alastair asked Drax."I never knew him. I never even met him once. My mother said he didn't want us when she was pregnant, so she had to leave." Drax responded and took a glance at Cara when she breathed deeply."Did she tell you she was from here?" Alastair asked him but Drax shook his head."And the dragon bound to your soul, how did you get it?" Alastair asked Drax."I do not know. My mother once mentioned that I got it from my birth father. She said he was a very powerful man in Elderien. I am wondering if it was the king. Perhaps that would be the only reason why he would abandon us. He could not put up with the scandal. It is actually understandable." D
Corvius punched the dome with all he had and watched as the energy vibrated on the dome. He growled as he punched again, this time, putting in even more energy than he had before. He punched and watched as the dome shook with all of the energy it was absolved, but nothing happened. The dome remained as strong as ever, and it remained upright even as Corvius punched. The sun sphere gave off sparkles of energy like it was fighting back, a move that irritated Corvius."That's how you wanna play? We'll play!" He spat as he took a step back. He didn't even care that his army was behind him, watching all of his actions. The Northerners stood there and watched as their leader struggled with the dome, and it was not a sight that filled them with pleasure. But Corvius did not care about them or their feelings! The only thing he cared about was how his image reflected himself and at that point, he was feeling useless! He roared as he shot a stream of ice from his hand at the dome. The impact b
"You are disturbed..."Corvius heard Asmodeus say behind him as the demon appeared out of thin air. Since Asmodeus' binding with him and the absorption of the primal cubes which allowed demons to enter the plane, Asmodeus has been able to easily traverse both worlds, a leisure he enjoyed because of Corvius."I have faced the greatest humiliation of my life. I was so close to Victory and I watched as it got taken from me. I was a fool to underestimate the Elderiens. It will not happen again."Corvius calmly stated and the demon chuckled lightly."Was he there? Alastair, was he there?" Asmodeus asked Corvius."He was. He is the one responsible for this sphere. That mage helped him. They literally kicked me out of their Kingdom."Corvius scoffed at the reality. He was nearly running madly from the Shame."You never should have expected less from that Kingdom. They are the Pinnacle of strength as far as these lands are concerned. They have a strong army which is probably on their way here
The calm, the quiet, the serenity.Alastair watched as the incense burning in the room took him back to memories from a time long ago. He stood at the side of the room where Cara lay on the bed, covered with a large piece of bedding that nearly swallowed her whole. She was not moving, and her eyes were shut tight. As Alastair continued to observe her, he was taken back to the time when he watched a healer use the power of incense to amplify her powers and perform a very powerful spell to drive out a blood-sucking parasite. The parasite had taken root inside a man's intestines and sucked out blood within him. It started as a simple pain in the guts, which quickly spread even before the man knew it. The pain intensified as the parasite which was getting larger began to dig through the Anterior abdominal wall of the man.Alastair had witnessed it during his rotation with healers to learn the basic art of healing. He was fascinated by that particular event and when the healer started the
"What do you mean you cannot feel the Phoenix?"Alastair asked Cara who stopped sobbing and gazed into nothing in particular. She just sat there as a million thoughts roamed around her mind. She just didn't know exactly how to explain it to Alastair at that time."When I woke up earlier, I felt something shift within me. I thought it was just the aftermath of the attack so I shrugged it off. But I tried to feel my magic just now and I could not. It's not there."She whispered the latter part. Alastair did not say a thing. He just contemplated the problem before him."Your menu?" Alastair said to Cara. She touched her right shoulder but nothing happened. There was no magic to even initiate the process. It was real!"Alastair, what if Corvius killed the Phoenix?" Cara asked and recoiled."I do not think it is possible. The Phoenix cannot be killed. It simply exists and will continue to exist. I do not know what this is but this is not the death of the Phoenix. I am certain there is a lo
How dare he try to tell him what to do?Kevin raged on as he made his way to his quarters. He could not believe Alastair would dare try to tell him what to do. The realization that the mage had gotten bold made him furious. Fine, he would become the prince consult in a while but that did not give him the right. What does it matter if he decided to spend the rest of his days drinking? Why couldn't he focus on the things at hand, like saving the world or defending his queen from danger? Why did he want to overrule?Kevin cursed again, dragging his feet on the ground. The stench of blood still hung in the air and he saw some blood stains on the wall. The bloodstains reminded him of his fight with Obaro. He felt shivers when he remembered the fight. The way Obaro defeated him, the strength he possessed, the speed, it all scared him in a way.He knew what he should be doing, he should be walking around, trying to find ways to reach their allies, contact the generals, and mobilize the army,
The lady slowly took a seat and continued to gaze upon Kevin. She was beautiful, no doubt, and the green colored dress she wore made her look even better. Her hair was red, and she wore a black cloak as well."It is considered treason to obstruct a royal when they're busy. Did you know this?" Kevin asked her and she nodded slowly."The arcane books of King Tut. Second edition. Good thing we are no longer living in the old days, isn't it?"She stated calmly. Kevin was surprised by her knowledge. That was only available to royals. How did she know? And what did she mean by the second edition?"Who are you?" Kevin asked."My name is Tanya. I have been watching you for a while now, Lord Kevin." She said."Watching me? Why?""How do you feel?" She asked again. Kevin was already getting irritated by the question. Why did she keep asking, and why didn't she just let him drink in peace?"I feel fine." He said. "Now, off you go. I want my peace." He added."I'm afraid I cannot do that," Tanya
