Jason stood amidst the chaos like a misplaced hero, why wouldn't he be? His confused eyes darted between faces, searching for answers he didn’t have. ‘I just made a few calls, I don't even know how to get in touch with Wilson.’ he thought but outside he stood firm and unrestrained. Amelia’s eyes brimmed with gratitude. "You saved us, Jason. I don’t know how to thank you." Her voice was soft, filled with sincerity that made Jason’s chest swell with unearned pride. The next morning, Luca Ashford despite barely getting any sleep the night before felt like royalty in his new surroundings. He stretched luxuriously on the massive bed, the silk sheets slipping off his bare chest, and slowly sat up, letting the morning light spill across the polished floor. After a brief breakfast, he began wandering through the sprawling villa, taking in every intricate detail, the carved railings, the oil paintings, the grand chandeliers. Though awe-inspiring, the huge size of the place started to wear off on him. By about 7:40 AM, he was exhausted. “This place is too damn big,” he muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. Silver and Shade, the two servants who had accompanied him the night before, exchanged knowing looks. It was clear their new master would need more help. Silver stepped aside just as the grand door creaked open and Luca Ashford stepped out, dressed in black slacks and a crisp charcoal shirt, its sleeves rolled up, glass still in hand. Their eyes met. The night air was cool and biting as Alfred Stewart’s sleek black car cut through the streets, tailing the other three vehicles that carried his men. Inside the car, Alfred’s fury could be seen . His fingers tapped against the leather seat impatiently, his mind racing. ‘Jason, you fool,’ he thought. ‘Do you think love will protect you when the world turns its back? Do you think the Thorntons will accept you? No, they will use you and toss you aside the moment you’re no longer useful.’ The driver stole a quick glance at the rearview mirror, clearly sensing the storm building in the back seat, but wisely said nothing. After two rings it connected. “It is done, Mad Tiger is no more!” Hearing this news was something that Wilson Brown couldn't contain. He had imagined that it would be a quiet and silent infiltration, instead the scene before him was a mess. The entire place was swarming with military personnel, it was surrounded. Dozens of heavily armed soldiers were stationed outside, their faces dark with frustration. Their rifles trained on the seemingly impenetrable structure ahead. Spotlights illuminated the building, their beams slicing through the darkness like blades. A few vehicles were riddled with bullet holes, and the tension in the air was suffocating. At the forefront stood Marina, her sharp gaze fixed on the dilapidated mansion in front of them. Her subordinates shifted uneasily as she clenched her fists.
