Ridiculed in Grandma’s Birthday Party

"What took you all so long? And why is this trash coming along with you?"

The one who said that was Tony's father-in-law, Josh. He's standing in front of the front door of a villa, waiting for his family.

They're about to join the birthday party of Grandma Tiffany, the current leader of the Robertson Family.

"He just came out of nowhere, Josh. I already asked him to go home, but he said he wants to come to the party!" explained Sasha, curtly.

Sasha was Tony's mother-in-law. Just like her husband, she looked down on Tony because he was such a poor guy.

"He was already outside the villa when we were about to arrive, Dad. Sis insisted on taking him with us. I disagreed, though. Look at him. His shirt is dirty and he looks like a poor, pathetic guy! He will only make us embarrassed inside!"

Now it’s Josephine who spoke. She's Tony's sister-in-law, and she hated Tony more than anyone in this world.

"Sorry. I didn't have time to change clothes. I came straight here from the bar and got stuck in the traffic," said Tony, lying.

Actually, when he was about to leave the bar, he was approached by a soldier who once was his subordinate in the military.

The soldier asked Tony to return to the military, but he refused to do it.

"You make me sick, Tony," Sasha complained. "And you know what, Josh, he just got fired from the bar. That's why he came here."

"What?! Already got fired? Isn't this just your fifth day as the bar's security guard, Tony?" smashed Josh.

"Yes, Dad. Unfortunately, I got fired again. Sorry," said Tony, looking down on his feet.

Tony beat up a guy who was roughing up a woman in the bar parking area. Turned out, the guy was the son of the bar owner.

Of course, that fat bar manager fired Tony!

"You are such trash, Tony! How could trash like you become the husband of my beloved daughter!" complained Josh.

"Oh, come on, Guys. Let's just go into the party room. We're already late," said Jade, Tony's beautiful wife.

Jade was always uncomfortable to see her family cornering Tony. But, on the other hand, she was also annoyed by Tony who got fired for the seventh time in the last three months.

To be honest, she began to lose her faith in Tony. Although Tony was a loyal husband, it was no use if he didn't have a steady job and decent social status.

There won't be a bright future for their little family if Tony's situation doesn't change soon.

Tony, noticing Jade's discomfort feeling, tried to hold her hand gently.

Jade looked at Tony in an annoyed expression. "Just make sure you don't get us in trouble inside. Okay?" she said.

"Got it," Tony replied instantly.

Josh sighed. He wanted to forbid Tony from going into the party room. But he knew that if he did that, Jade wouldn't want to go into the party room either.

"Okay. Let's go in!" said Josh, giving up on his idea.

Josh opened the door and they entered the party room, a big, large hall inside a villa.

The villa itself was one of the luxury villas owned by Josh's big family, the Robertson Family.

"I didn't expect to see your useless son-in-law in this party, Josh. Why do you take him with you? Are you trying to deliberately embarrass yourself and your little family in front of us?"

The one who said that was Esther, Josh's elder sister, the eldest child of the Robertson Family.

Esther always immediately criticizes Tony when there's an opportunity for her to do it.

She also hated Josh so much because Josh had been blessed with two children while she hadn't even married yet.

Being teased by Esther in front of his extended family, Josh's face became red.

"Mom's birthday party is a so special, you know, a sacred moment for the Robertson family. Only family members are allowed to attend this event. Instead, you bring in this outsider. Maybe your brain is starting to fail, Josh. People say that stupidity is contagious. It seems that your son-in-law's stupidity has rubbed off on you. Hahaha…"

Esther's laughter echoed in the room. Josh's face got redder. His hands clenched into fists.

He wanted to reply to Esther's ridicule, actually, but he didn't have the guts.

It's different with Jade. Finding her husband and family scorned like that, she stepped forward and said,

"Tony is my husband, Auntie. He is part of the Robertson family. He has the right to join this party."

"What did you just say, Jade? Part of the Robertson family? Hahaha…" Esther laughed again.

"Let me remind you, Jade, I will never acknowledge your marriage to this trash. He is just an outsider, a poor man who lives as a parasite in your small, pathetic family. And you're really stupid to still hold on to him. If I were you, I would have divorced him a long time ago and started looking for another man who really deserves to be my husband," said Esther, smiling crookedly.

Jade looked at her aunt with hatred. Her face started to turn red too like her father, but it was because she was so damn angry.

Meanwhile, Josh just kept silent. He secretly thought that what Esther just said was actually true.

If only Jade had never married Tony, they wouldn't have been teased like this.

Tony and Jade got married almost a year ago. Peter, Jade's grandfather, the leader of the Robertson family at that time, was the one who arranged this controversial marriage.

It seemed like Peter did that to return the favor because Tony once saved him when the car he was driving was attacked by bad guys.

Peter tried to defend Tony whenever he was disdained by the people in the Robertson family. Unfortunately, a month after Tony and Jade's wedding, Peter died of a heart attack.

"You know what, Jade, you and your family really have a good taste on man. A very very good taste," said Esther, smiling sarcastically and laughing out loud.

The people in the room, who had been watching the argument between Esther and Jade, were now giggling. They gave Jade and her family a dismissive look.

"This is how it is when you have a son-in-law from among the common people."

"It's useless to have a beautiful face but get a pathetic man."

"Well, he's actually handsome and has ideal posture, but… he has nothing."

"No matter how attractive it looks, trash is still trash."

Hearing the ridicule, Jade's face really turned red. Tony tried to hold Jade's hand to calm her down, but this time Jade immediately waved his hand away and glared at him angrily.

Tony got similar look from Josh, Josephine, and Sasha. It was as if Tony's value was really really that bad.

Indeed, when Peter introduced Tony to the Robertson family almost a year ago, Tony was just a poor guy who survived by doing odd jobs.

But previously, he was a legendary elite soldier, the Great General who had led the country's troops to win war after war.

Three years ago, he shockingly left the military. Since then he lived his new life in Karnaan City while hiding his true identity.

"What's wrong here? Why are you guys so noisy?"

Tiffany, the birthday grandmother, finally spoke. The laughter and ridicule immediately disappeared.

Sitting in a wheelchair, Tiffany was pushed gently by Christine, her loyal personal servant.

Everyone made their way for them. Christine brought Tiffany over to Josh and his family.

"Josh, what a coincidence you brought your son-in-law here. I have good news for you and your family," said Tiffany.

"Really, Mom? What's the good news?" Josh asked. Suddenly his eyes lighted up.

Tiffany looked at Tony, then Jade, then Josh again.

She said, "This morning I had a by-phone conversation with Bobby, Mr. Hammond's son who has been chasing your daughter for a long time. He said that today he will return from the US and he plans to propose to Jade. I've asked him to come here. Just make sure your daughter accepts his proposal. This is a really great opportunity to elevate our family status significantly!"

Dang!

Tony was surprised to hear that. Jade was his wife. How could Tiffany ask Jade to accept another man's proposal? Is this a joke?

"What do you mean, Grandma?" asked Tony, stepping up forward with a confused face.

Tiffany looked at Tony angrily. How dare this trash talk to her casually!

"Are you deaf, Tony? I said Bobby will come to propose to Jade and Jade should accept it!"

"But Jade is my wife—"

"Then divorce her! Now!"
