chapter five

"Do you believe me now?" I looked into Jonas's eyes panting. Jonas looked at me and stepped back. " I am not going to hurt you. you don't need to be scared of me. " I said looking at his face.

" Who are those people and why are they trying to have you killed?" Jonas asked with fear still visible in his eyes.

" I don't know too but I guess it has to do with Grace. Maybe her boyfriend is after my life." I replied looking out for our hiding place

" Jeez! What have you gotten yourself into? The more reason you should let go of Grace. Besides, she isn't the right girl for you."

" Why?" I asked looking puzzled

"Haven't you noticed? She is way out of your league dude." Jonas said sweating. " No, she is not." I fired back

" Let's just get out of this alive," Jonas replied

We walked out of hiding and didn't see the car anymore. " I think they have gone. " Jonas said with a smile touching his chest. We carefully packed our packages and went back to the dorm forgetting to get the new car I wanted to buy. We got back looking tired and worn out. I landed on the bed and looked at Jonas " Do you think we should report this to the police?" I asked forgetting I had superpowers

Jonas looked at me and laughed " The police? Don't tell me the power Grim Reaper is scared of some little men that want to have him killed.".

My mind raised and remembered who I was. I wonder why I haven't been contacted by the system anymore. " You are right. I will just have to deal with all of this by myself. I am sorry I brought you into all of this." I said feeling apologetic

Jonas looked at me and smiled raising his package " It isn't that bad. A little adventure is what I need this time around. How does your power work?" he asked looking at me

" I don't know bro. it is just like a switch I think. I don't know how to turn it on and off. The last time I was at the point of death was when I received my first assignment." I said gently going through the packages

" What assignment? " Jonas asked looking curious at me

" I can see demons.* my lips parted making Jonas more scared.

[ TENSE MUSIC ]

" you can see what?* Jonas asked looking at my face with disbelief. " You don't believe me? " I asked looking at his bewildered face

" No, I don't. Who the hell sees a demon? Are you even normal anymore dude?" He asked staring at my face

" I don't know what I am anymore but I think I am half human and half a reaper. I am not the only one though." I said looking at Jonas's face

" You mean there are more of you, Grim Reapers?" He asked

I nodded and we heard a bang at the door. The air was tense as we wondered who was at the door. We stopped talking and suddenly, some men in black materialized out of the walls. " Holly shit! can you do that too?" Jonas asked looking back at me and seeing I was equally surprised

" Did you tell him about us? I thought the system asked you to keep all of this a secret. Do you know what you have done is a grave offense?" Derek said removing the cloak on his face. " He is my friend. what am I supposed to do when he saw me being shot at without dying." I replied looking at the men standing before me.

" Zoey, wipe off his memories. he shouldn't remember anything about us or even about his secret," Derek instructed Zoey

Zoey walked closer to Jonas and before I could stop her, she placed her hands on Jonas's face and emitted a powerful air that made him fall asleep.

I looked at the men and they walked toward me " You need to stay hidden. The demons know about you and your powers.* Derek said rubbing his hands over his hairs

" Powers? What powers? " I asked looking at their faces.

" I am Derek. The leader of the Grim Reapers for this world. here is Zoey, she has the power to read into people's memories and sense the presence of any demon. Gilbert has the power to heal and also read into people's past but not as well as Zoey."

" What about you?" What are your powers?" I asked standing up to look at their faces as they unmasked themselves. " Well, I am strong and can move fast," Derek replied

" What about me? How am I supposed to know my powers?" I asked looking at them. " It will come to you with ease. You don't have to worry about that but right now, I think we need to find out who is trying to have you killed.

" I sense the presence of a demon in the school. Do you think they followed me down to the school?" I asked with a frightened face

Derek looked at Zoey, " I think they are attracted to the energy within you. You need to stay hidden and know how to conceal your powers from your friends."

" Stay hidden? I don't ever want to do that again! I am powerful now and I want ever be seen as a weakling again."

" Did you hear him? can you see this was a mistake all a long. I wonder why the system would decide to make a teenager have so much power when I am worthy of sch powers." Derek said in anger

" I think Aurora made her choice already. we should just learn to deal with it. Give the kid sometime to adjust." Zoey replied

" Sometimes? time is what we dnt have. You see that we are at war with the dark demon. level 4 demons. do you think he is ready? " Gilbert asked and I looked at them in confusion

" Level 4 demon? I am just at level 1." my lips parted and I looked at the three of them

" They are here!." Zoey said sensing the presence of the demon. " What do we do?" Gilbert asked

" I am ready to fight and join on this quest." I said looking at their faces " You need to hide for now. We can't risk letting them get hold of you." Derek replied

" But I have the powers." I shouted in anger and looked at Jonas who was still asleep " Is he going to be alright? " I asked getting worried that Jonas wasn't awake yet.

" You need to be concerned about yourself kiddo. " Gilbert replied. " He is a mundane. He isn't their focus but you."

I watch the men transformed into their Dark suits. " Here they come." Zoey said and I watch their eyes glowed and turned dark. " Hide!" Derrick said looking at me.

[ Argh! ]

I shouted venting my anger. The door to my room burst open and the demons came in. I watched as the fight unfolded as the grim reapers tried to defend themselves against the dark demons. Their powers was more fatal than Derrick and his men and I watched as they tried their best to divert their attentions from me. I grinned my teeth when I knew I could make alot of difference with me fighting along since with them. I looked at Derrick and I saw he was bleeding. Zoey was pinned down too while Gilbert was barely able to hold on. Everything became tensed as the grim reapers where held down.

" Tell me where he is!" I watched one of the demon walked towards Derrick and dipped it claws into his stomach. " I know you are hiding him so tell me where he is." I looked at the demon and I noticed there was something familiar about him

" What? I have seen this face before but where?" My head began to ache as I tried to figure out where I had seen the face of the demon before me. " So I have to kill one of you before you tell me where he is!" He shouted again and gave Zoey a blow to her stomach. I wanted to crawl out of where I was but I felt a feeble hand pulled me back. Jonas shook his head frightened at what was going on.

One of the demon looked at Zoey " She has the power to remember thing and sense demons and their levels. why don't we kill her. it would be impossible for them to track or know of our movement with this power. The Grim would be left vulnerable and we would be able to attack them without them knowing."

" Yes, you are right. I think I would consider that option but think of what we could gain when we consume the ultimate power of Aurora the goddess of the Reaper. I would be untouchable and everyone will bow at my feet. I would spread my minions and take over the earth. Men would kneel and marvel at my power." The leader of the demon said and he looked towards me. " What! isn't that Zaco's father? And who is that beside him?" I asked myself

One of the demon sniffled and looked at him " Grey, I think he is around." She said sniffling and walking towards the bed. I tried to block my nose and I looked at Jonas who was shaking and sweating. With each step coming towards the bed I froze seeing I was helpless. I knew Derrick and his minion were in no shape to help me.

" Stop! I will tell you were he is. " Derrick shouted at the demon walking towards me.

" Don't Derrick! please, the earth would be lost without him. " Zoey said as blood trickled down her face. " Tell me! where he is? " Grey said with a wide grin. " He is.... " Derrick said moving his hand slightly towards the bed and I froze.
