Ruby sluggishly reached over to silent the persistent alarm, which had been ringing every five minutes for the past half hour. She was jolted awake when she saw the time ,it was 7:30 am! She hastily gathered her things from Raymond's room, where she had spent the night, and made her way to the living room,careful enough not to wake the boy. As she changed into the outfit she had worn to work the previous day, Melissa suddenly appeared, startled, and let out a little yelp. "Oh my goodness, you scared me!" she exclaimed, her heart still racing.

Ruby shot her a glare. "You should have woken me up! Now I'm running late for work and will have to face Damian with his newly purchased sharp tongue"

Melissa offered, "Do you want a quick breakfast?"

Ruby's brief smile faded as quickly as it appeared. "No, thanks."
