Ruby stood outside the hotel, her eyes fixed on the departing car till it disappeared into the distance. Though she claimed she doesn't like her boss and whatever kiss they shared was a mistake, she still felt jealous. She felt like a bride who was abandoned on the altar for another woman. With a heavy sigh, she spun on her heels and went to the hotel bar. She had nothing to do in the suite so instead of just staying there alone, she would rather go drinking. “Can I get a drink, please? A strong one” she said to the bartender. As she sipped her drink, her eyes narrowed replaying what she saw. She couldn't believe her boss who was always all over her, claiming he likes her would just leave her alone like that and follow a woman who he claimed wasn't his fiancée. “Liar!” she said and tightened her grip on her glass “Can I buy you a drink?” A voice said and she turned to look at him. Well he was good looking so maybe spending a night with him will make her stop thinking about her
“Is this the time to make him feel what I felt?” Ruby asked herself as she made eye contact with Damian. “Do you know him?” Mark asked when he saw how Damian was staring at them. “Oh,yes he is my boss' ' Ruby said and looked away from Damian. “Thank you so much for this. I'll use it well” she smiled broadly at him “Oh, there is something on your clothes' ' she said intentionally and removed the invisible thing on Mark's cloth. “Thank you” Mark smiled at her “Have a great night” he said and left her. When Damian saw that Mark was gone,he strode towards Ruby before she could try to enter the house. “Who was that?” He asked immediately when he was standing in front of her. “Oh,him? He is a friend sir” Ruby said intentionally so that Damian wouldn't suspect she was trying to make him jealous. “A friend? I see you have a new neighbour” he said as he watched Mark enter his apartment. “Why are you here sir? Shouldn't you be resting?” “Get dressed. You are buying me my dinner tonigh
Spending her Sunday evening eating dinner with Damian made Ruby laugh softly as she got ready for work. A part of her was happy she would be seeing Damian again at work. As she was applying her make-up,her phone rang and she picked the call on the first dial. It was Damian. “Come to my place. I need your help with something here. We will go to work together” his voice was cold and that made Ruby wonder what was wrong with him. “Okay sir” she said and Damian ended the call. She quickly put some finishing touches to her makeup and before leaving the house, hailed a cab to Damian’s house instead of taking her own car. When she got to the house, the front gate was opened for her and she entered. She sat down and patiently waited for Damian to come downstairs. “Would you like some tea?” His maid asked her. “No, thank you,” she replied politely. Finally after minutes of waiting,Damian was done dressing up and he came downstairs. As he walked down the stairs,Ruby couldn't help but to
“I'm so sorry Ruby. I didn't know things would turn out this way” Grace apologised, her voice barely above a whisper. “It's fine. I'll do my best to sought it out” “I have an idea” Grace said and Ruby turned to her to hear the so-called idea she had. “You said your boss likes you, right. Why don't you ask him to do you the favour of coming with you? He definitely will agree if he actually likes you” “You are definitely out of your mind. And besides, that might put me in trouble with his supposed fiancée. She is scary” Ruby said, recalling how possessive Veronica was everytime she sees her with Damian. “If he says he doesn't like that woman, then believe him and go for what you want. I trust myself when it comes to matters like this” Unlike Ruby who always tries her best to stay away from things that would cause trouble for her,no matter how much she likes or wants that thing,Grace was the opposite. She was daring and would always go for what she wanted. “Thank you for your idea,
The next weekend came faster than she expected,so she had to go on the trip since she wasn't able to come up with a better excuse. “Yes,I don't have a boyfriend! Is there something wrong with it?” She practised the reply she was going to give anyone who tried to talk down on her as she put her things inside her car trunk. After about two hours of driving, she got to the hotel they would be staying in Montauk for the weekend, she became happy when she saw Grace at the hotel lobby. “Hey! Finally you are here” Grace said and hugged her “Where is everyone else?” “I don't know. I haven't seen anyone since I came too. I guess we are the early birds” Ruby nodded as balanced her box well. “So I was thinking” she began to say “Can we room together? To cut cost” She suggested to Grace. “Room together? Definitely not” “Why?” Ruby asked and grabbed Grace’s hand. “Because you are not staying in your room alone. I got you covered” Grace said and tucked her hair behind her ears, waiting
“You both took so long to finally join us” Grace pointed out when Damian and Ruby finally joined the table. “We are sorry if we kept you all waiting. I have missed her face so much that I took some time to admire it” Damian gushed and pulled out a chair for Ruby who smiled at him for his kind gesture though was a bit uncomfortable. “Good thing you all haven't ordered” he added as he settled down “What do you mean?” Taylor asked as her eyes narrowed. “Dinner is on me” he snapped his fingers and the waiters who were already waiting at a corner with a food trolley marched towards their table and began to fill it up with a variety of foods. “Please eat all you want” he gave them a broad smile as they all stared at the foods that filled their table. Everyone except Taylor made it obvious that they were impressed. The fact that she,who was always winning against Ruby was now losing to her, made a part of her so angry, jealous and even felt resentment towards Jeremy for not becoming s
It was in the evening when Ruby finally opened her eyes. She had fainted earlier because Damian kissing her like that wasn't part of their plans. She never expected the kiss at all. She knocked her head when she remembered she closed her eyes. “You fool!” She scolded herself loudly. “You are awake?” Damian, who was sitting opposite the bed with his laptop in his hand said and she sat up immediately then watched him join her in bed. He touched her forehead to be sure she wasn't down with fever, because he was guessing that might be the reason she fainted. “What are you doing here?” Ruby asked and sat up immediately. “This is our room, remember?” “Oh.." she looked around and scratched the back of her neck awkwardly "Can...we not get another room? How can two of us share a room? We are adults” she pointed out. “Does it make sense for a couple to sleep in separate rooms?” He asked and stood up from the bed to get water from the fridge. “How will you explain that to your friends if th
The perfect frame of Damian standing by the window enjoying the nice view of the beach was what Ruby saw first as soon as she woke up. His left hand was in his trouser’s pocket while his right hand was holding a coffee mug. Ruby intentionally didn't make any sound because she wanted to take in his nice features for some time, until her phone rang loudly. She fell back to the bed immediately. Damian, who didn't know she was awake, turned to silent the phone so that she wouldn't be disturbed while Ruby kept her eyes shut like she hadn't woken up. “I know you are up. You are literally struggling to keep your eyes closed” he chuckled but Ruby didn't bulge. “It will be less embarrassing if you wake up now” he added and this time, she slowly opened her eyes. “It's morning already?” She asked as she sat up “I had a good sleep" she tried to hide her embarrassment. “Of course you had a good sleep, you are not the one who slept on the couch” “But you insisted on sleeping in it yourself. You s
