Felix smirked and leaned back in his chair, tapping a finger against his chin like he was calculating a formula in his head.

He looked me over, his sharp eyes sizing me up — not just my money, but my ambition.

"Two million”, he said.

"Money is not the issue right now, Felix, but I need you to keep a secret. None of this must reach the ears of any students on this campus." I said, staring at him.

Felix looked around and smiled, "Well, that depends on how much you are willing to pay for my service and how much you are going to be paying to have me keep my mouth shut. I can do both if the pay is high enough."

I didn’t blink. I reached into my bag, brought out a slim envelope, and placed it gently on the table.

He raised a brow. “You came prepared.”

“I always do.”

He picked up the envelope, peeled it open slightly, then nodded. “You want your name everywhere, right? Campus fame? Digital presence? Social media dominance? All of that?”

“And more,” I said. “I want them to know I exist. I want every student, every teacher, every sponsor, and every recruiter to see me and ask, Who is this guy? Also, I need you to find me a set of adults who could play the role of being my parents. They must be rich and also be prominent people in the society."

Felix arched an eyebrow, "What? You need parents too?" He was staring at me.

"Yes, you just told me you can do this." I said, pausing a bit.

My voice was as low as possible, not trying to arouse any suspicions or make the librarian send me out. "Felix, I need you to think about this very well. I can make you even richer than this. All you need to do is give me what I want, and I will be out of your space."

Felix relaxed into his seat, tapping against the table slightly. He knew what I was asking of him was a punishable offence under the law, but then he looked at the money on the table again. "Then you might need to double the money, Ethan Summer. What you are asking of me is a big deal."

 I arched my eyebrows.

"You need to tell me the amount you need, and let's keep it at that." I said, looking at him.

I prayed silently not to ask for a ridiculous amount of money.

"Fine. Pay me five million dollars." Felix said, adjusting his spectacles.

"Okay, we have a deal." I said immediately, and his face went pale.

"What? Are you seriously going to offer me that amount of money?" Felix asked, taking them by surprise.

"Don't tell me you want more, Felix. I told you to think twice before you call your price." I said back defensively.

"No, it is fine. Are you doing this because of Frank?" Felix asked, his eyes locked on mine.

"You don't need to know that, Felix. All you need to do is get what I want done." I said picking up the money I placed on the table initially. "I am going to be making a transfer into your account. Can you please type it in?" I passed my phone to him.

" Fine."

His hands darted over the screen of my phone, and I pressed send. The money landed in seconds.

"Woah! I don't believe any of this is real. Why are you letting Frank talk down to you when you could easily kick his ass?" Felix sat upright and set to work.

I didn't say a word but simply looked at him as she walked on his system. "You can even afford to get yourself your own men in school. You know, people who can protect you." Felix added

"This is new to me." I replied immediately.

" What part? The money part or the fact that you want me to find you a disguise, parents?" Felix asked, adjusting his glasses yet again.

"You know I paid you to keep your mouth shut. If any word of this goes out, I won't only make you pay, but I am going to make sure..."

"I get it. You don't need to threaten me, Ethan. Look around; most of the kids here store their personal information with me. The kings, queens, chiefs and even the citizens. I hold the key to everything going on here, and you are welcome on board. You paid my money, so there should not be any problems." Felix said, clicking the system.

" Done!"

"Woah! That was fast. Are you finally done with everything?" I asked, staring at him.

"No, dummy. I meant I was done with the scouting. Look at her pictures and tell me who you want as your parents?"

I paused for a bit, looking at pictures upon pictures. All I saw were faces of grumpy men and women. People who actually did not care even if I died.

Their faces showed that all they would ever care about was the money. "What is it?" Felix arched his eyebrows. "Don't tell me you are having a rethink over all of this," he said, taking a pause to stare at my face.

"No, of course not, but I don't think I want rich parents anymore. Can you find me someone, a family that is very poor and could barely afford three square meals a day?" I said, looking at Felix.

"Why? You have the money, Summer. Why do you need a wretched parent?" Felix asked, his hand darting over the keypad once more.

The system browsed for a bit and suddenly came to a halt. It was displaying the pictures of two couples who had sad looks on their faces.

"Can you do a brief background check on them?" I asked again, and Felix nodded.

He typed some words, and their biography was brought up.

"Yes! I want the two of them to be my parents. Can you make that possible?" I said, looking at Felix, who was looking at me confused, wondering why I was picking them.

The hallways of Frontale University reeked of expensive perfums, arrogance, and wealth—none of which belonged to me. I tightened my grip on my worn-out backpack, my knuckles turning white. This was supposed to be my golden ticket, my chance to stand among the elite, to prove that talent and intelligence could break through even the thickest walls of privilege. But that was before everything went to hell. Before Selena. Before Frank. Before I lost everything. “Hey, isn’t that Ethan Summerville?” The voice dripped with mockery, sending a cold chill down my spine. I recognized it instantly—Paul Henderson, one of Frank’s lapdogs. A quick glance told me all I needed to know. He wasn’t alone. I barely had time to react before a shoulder rammed into me, knocking me off balance. My bag hit the marble floor, spilling out its contents—second-hand textbooks, notes scribbled in the margins, and an old phone with a cracked screen. The students burst into laughter. “Damn, you stil

My body ached as I shifted, the taste of blood thick in my mouth. I cracked my swollen eyes open, vision swimming as I tried to piece together what happened. The dim, flickering light of my dorm room cast long shadows against the walls. Laughter rippled through the hallway of Frontale University, bouncing off the pristine marble floors and the grand pillars that lined the corridors. I could hear it all around me—the mocking whispers, the amused smirks, and the quiet murmurs of pity and disdain. I clenched my fists, my breath ragged as I pushed myself up from the cold floor. My knees stung from the fall, my hands scraped against the unforgiving tiles. My backpack had spilled open, my few battered notebooks lying scattered like fallen leaves. Paul’s voice was the first to cut through the noise, sharp and laced with cruelty. "And down goes the pauper prince again!" he mocked, nudging his polished shoe against my shoulder, shoving me back down with ease. A fresh round of laughter erupted into the thin air. Where the hell was I? I pry open eyes as my head throb gently. My vision blurred before sharpening on the white ceiling above me, the fluorescent lights flickering slightly. The rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor beside me matched the erratic thumping in my chest. I tried to move my hand—and that’s when I saw it. The gentle glow of the tattoo. It was glowing again.
