The following morning, while they had breakfast, Gabriel could see that Camella was still angry. She barely looked at him, her eyes fixed on her plate, and her responses were curt.

After breakfast, Camella ordered Jessie to go get her backpack. "Jessie, get your backpack. We’re leaving soon."

"I know I should have told you about Anna and Zoe. They’re just friends. Nothing more," Gabriel continued, desperation creeping into his voice.
