Dan exhaled, motioning for another cop to take Derek.

"We will handle it from here. But Zoe, next time follow the rules."

"You know what, Dan? I'd appreciate it if you stopped interfering in my business."

Dan gave a nasty, upset response. "Fine. But I just hope things don't go south someday."

Watching the vans drive off, Gabriel muttered, "Officer Dan hates me for no reason."

Zoe waved dismissively. "Don't mind him. Let's go."

They got into her truck, and Zoe drove off, her grip on the steering wheel tight. Gabriel glanced at her, a smirk playing on his lips.

"Nice work back there, partner."

"Shut up and buckle in," Zoe replied with a smile, her eyes focused on the road ahead, a determined look on her face as they drove into the night.

They were reaching his house when Gabriel stated, "Dan… I think he likes you, Zoe."

Zoe pretended not to hear him.

He chuckled. "I know you heard me clearly."

She rolled her eyes. "I don't know what you're talking about, Mr. Gabriel."
