Anna raised an eyebrow, confused. "No... I," she noticed the displeasure on his face and waved her hand dismissively, "I was just kidding."

Gabriel shook his head. "Honestly, it wasn't funny."

She gulped and stared at him. "Sorry."

He was briefly silent before he smiled and apologized. "No, sorry. Lately I… just haven't been good. I didn't mean to sound cold."

She nodded. "I understand."

"So, tell me more about this woman," he requested.

"Sure. Let's sit under the canopy and talk better."

She led him to a canopy beside the pool. They settled into the comfortable chairs, the afternoon sun casting a soft glow over the water.

As they sat down, Anna continued, "I really need to find her son. She mentions his name sometimes, but it's always so jumbled. I was hoping you might know someone who could help us."

Gabriel leaned forward, nodding. "I'll see what I can do. Maybe we can start by asking around the local shelters and hospitals. Someone must have seen her before."
